Blackthorne Manor Preparation for Battle
Weaponry Each soldier will be equipped with the following weapons
Lords & Knights Swords The Greatsword Double handled 50 – 72 inches in length Excluding handle 6 – 10 lbs The Scimitar Sharp curved edge 30 – 36 inches in length	 Spears Angon 6 feet Barbed head Iron made

Serfs Battering Rams Used to break down walls of enemy fortress Caltrops A four pronged device placed around the castle to pierce the hooves and occasionally feet
Armor & War Animals Applies to knights and lords only.  All armor will be blessed by high church officials
Lords & KnightsArmor High Quality (for high ranked knights and lords) Have steel plates Have cushions Tailor-made High quality steel to protect from lethal weapons Low Quality (for early knights and serfs) Made from poor steel Don’t have cushions
Lords & KnightsArmor Each piece of armor will be covered by leafs and twigs For camouflaging into the forest Each piece will be made from darker alloys  For camouflaging into the castle
War AnimalsHorses Each knight and lord will be equipped with a horse Horses will have armor Horses will be trained to: Trample over dead bodies Carry the knight and his heavyarmor Bite and kick on demand

Communication Will have messengers delivering important messages from wing to wing Will train birds to deliver All messages will be written in a code If enemies intercept it they won’t be able to understand
Food If fighting at home Our farmland is inside the walls of our manor, so it will be very hard to salt.  If fighting away Our food supply will be well guarded by a legion of pages, serfs, and a few commanding knights.

Medical Carefor injured soldiers For every 10 acres of land there will be a small tent prepared for small injuries Priorities are lords and highly ranked knights Serfs, archers, and low ranked knight are treated afterwards Have simple supplies Few medicinal herbs Cotton pieces For wrapping cuts Beginners surgical tools Mainly for stitches
Medical Carefor injured soldiers For every 100 acres of land there will be a small building prepared for severe injuries  Priorities are lords and highly ranked knights Serfs, archers, and low ranked knight are treated afterwards Have latest supplies High quality surgical tools Other simple necessities Have the most expert butchers and wise woman

War LocationEnemy’s Location If fighting at enemy’s location, we will Contaminate water Using raw meats and/or dead soldiers Stop all access of food Capture and torture as many people as possible Torturing methods will be explained Create an unpenetratable design  So enemies can’t break through our army
War LocationAt Sea/Ocean We have a vast naval army Soldier contributions from our allies Pettington Manor Duxford Manor Ships and boat contributions from our allies We will have food and other necessary supplies delivered via caravans and rafts
War LocationAt Sea/Ocean Rafts Very big Strong enough to carry several men and goods Medicine supplies, etc. Cogs Also very spacious Only have one mast Size varied according to amount of supplies Capable of sailing through rough waters
Torture Methods The Judas Chair A chair with spikes covered over it Spikes vary from 500-1000 in number Placed over extreme heat Foot Roast A device which held feet to open flames  The Coffin Torture A torture method where the victim was placed in a coffin for several hours Coffin is placed in the center of the town

Soldier Formation
Soldier FormationPhalanx This is a Greek and Macedonian formation done with spears. Ours uses angons.
Soldier FormationHedgehog Our variation of the phalanx is called the hedgehog All soldiers in the hedgehog are armed with angons At every white border further in, the angons are raised at a higher angle Due to the circular formation, the hedgehog cannot be attacked The hedgehog only consists of ¼ of the army Serfs Strong Serfs and Weak knights Reasonable Knights Pages and Squires High Ranked Knights Best Knights

Battle Strategies The best for the last!
Greek Fire A secret liquid that we have created Ignites when in contact with water “Grows” when tried to be put out with water If used at home We will use our moat to ignite it
Manor PositionThe Maze  Built to confuse the enemies The manor is placed at the center of the maze Several entrances and only one exit Is very narrow 25 feet high To prevent the enemies from climbing over
Maze Specifics The Maze will have tunnels that are stairs Very high Have dead ends For extreme difficulty getting back out Very Narrow So they have to go on single file Maze will be built over a solid rock formation Because of the stairs and walls, battering rams can not destruct the maze
Catapults Strategically and mathematically aimed at specific places in the maze

Castle FeaturesBattlements Are located at the top of our walls  Archers can shoot down at the enemies
Castle FeaturesThe Moat 30 feet deep Filled with steel stakes at the bottom Filled with water A drawbridge will connect the moat to the castle Castle waste will have been dumped into the moat Will cause no damage if they try contaminating the water If enemies try drinking it they will be poisoned
Statues Real Knight Fake Knight Statues of knight will be placed around the manor As a diversion Among the statues real knights will be positioned The statues’ armor will be made from the same steel alloys that created the castle camouflage  To be more realistic, fake blood  will be added onto the swords
Stoning Enemies will be stoned as they enter our manor  Only will be used if the enemies pass through the maze  Our highly trained hawks will drop the enemies rocks with no specific target Will fly above the enemies
