Setting Thiscut sequence soundslikeitissetinside of alarge buildingbecause we canhear
a distantwindinthe backgroundat the start.It becomesapparentthatthiscut
scene issetinside anarcade as we can hearbuttonsbeingpressedandittellsusthis
indialogue.The secondpartof the cut sequence issetinsideavideogame,where
the female characterisfightinganopponent.The intensemusicandalsothe
fightingnoisesmake itseemlike itisafightingarcade game.Alsothe dialogue tells
us that theyare playinga fightinggame.We alsohearthe clashof swordsor metal
weaponswhichalsotellsme thisisafighting game.
The windsoundscould’ve beenmade usingamidi
soundboardorusingfieldrecording.The music
wouldmore thanlikelyhave beenmade using
musical instruments,orpossiblyandacoustic
orchestra.The fightingnoisessuchasthe people
groaningand shoutingwould’ve beenrecordedin
a studioand lateredited.
Mood At the start of the cut scene there isa calm settingasall we can hear isthe windand
the dialogue.The moodthenbecomesmore tense andfastpacedastheyenterthe
game.All the fightingnoisesandthe intense musicassto this.Alsowhenthe
womanistell the storyhe voice beginstofade awayandseemto getfurtherwhich
isprobablyjustbecause the girl isconcentratingsomuch onthe game.
The dialogue hasbeenproducedina studio,
howeverfurtherintothe clipthe dialoguesounds
like it’sata furtherdistance whichmeansthat
theyhave usedsome effectsonitafterwards.
Game genre From the cut scene soundsthisgame seemstobe a fightinggame.We assume this
because of the musicand the sounds.Alsothe women’sdialogue tellsusthatthe
game is aboutfighting.HoweverThe LastOf Us is actuallya survival horror/
adventure game.
The noisessuchas the swordsclashingwould’ve
beenmade usingFoleyartistryastheywould
have to be capturedwell andwithoutand
ambientbackgroundnoise.
Narrative In thiscut sequence the twocharactersare talkingabouta game.One of the
characters isplayingthe game while the otherIsnarratinginthe background.They
start off by talkingandquietandcalmvoiceshoweverwhentheythenbeginthe
game theybegintotalk louderandfasterbecause itisgettingmore intense.
All of the dialogue heardinthiscut sequence will
have beenproducedina studioaswe can hearit
veryclearly.
