Speech On Old Age
The old age is viewed as a state of withdrawal. It is a state of withdrawal from active life resulting
in decreased interaction. Indian value system and social structure has undergone change. Changes in
the social institutions like the joint family, weakening economic pressures, weak physique of the
aged, high rising prevalence are largely affecting the elderly. The capacity to welcome them just as
they are is the fundamental response to elderly problems; surely all of them deserve recognition and
respect. Social gerontology was given a formal recognition in sociological and psychological
literature. The care and diseases of the old known as Geriatrics came into existence as a special
branch of medical science. The greatest hopes for a long life emerge towards an old age is not then
by chance where the years of life thereby succeeded are lacking of hope. Majority of the elderly
feel that they are burden on society, role less, powerless, ignored, and unable to contribute with the
younger generation they interfere. The important indicators of the old age are beliefs, attitudes,
speech, dress and style. In India, traditionally the elderly assign a place of respect and honour as
compiled by social values, norm and religion. The...show more content...
In fact aging is not just biological but psychological and sociological. No doubt, aging is a
physiological phenomenon but the problems of the aged are sociological. The number of the
aged above 60 is likely to go up from 350 million in 1975 to 590 million in 2005 according to
UNESCO estimate. In developing countries more than half of them live. India alone had 43
million old people in 1981. The number of aged in future would increase at a much faster rate than
ever before. Almost half a billion people, more than 90 percent world's population were over 60
years in 1990 that number will triple to 1.4 billion by

The size of the elderly rose in absolute terms during the last century from 12 million in 1901 to
approximately 71 million in 2001 and is likely to reach 113 million in 2016. Yet another feature of
ageing in India is the fact that the proportion of elderly is much higher in the rural areas than in the
urban areas. The sex–wise pattern of growth of elderly population reveals that the increase is greater
among women in the recent past, which indicates that elderly women will outnumber elderly men in
the future.
There is therefore an urgent need to examine the various aspects of this new and fast growing
population to ensure the design of appropriate policy and programmes directed to meet the varied
needs of this vulnerable and dependent group. India, like many traditional societies, today faces a
unique situation in providing care for its elderly as the existing old–age support structures in the
form of family, kith and kin, are fast eroding and the elderly are ill–equipped to cope alone with their
lives in the face of infirmity and disability. The onus of caring for the elderly is therefore now much
more on the state than the family and will necessitate the creation of adequate institutional support.
While the western countries have a fairly well organised network of institutions for the care of the
elderly, the growth and

Technology–integration in Old Age Homes in India A Status Paper
Sugan Bhatia, Ph.D. President Indian University Association for Continuing Education Delhi 1.1
The elderly (aged 60 years and above) in India account for more than 9 percent of the total
population. The National Population Commission estimated that the population of the elderly is
expected to grow from 71 million in 2001 to 173 million in 2026. This demographic scenario
appears to indicate a very precarious condition for the older persons in terms of their capability to
enjoy the right to life with dignity. While those in the age group 60–69 years could be expected to
lead a fairly healthy life and offer their services as volunteers for informal care giving to others in the

innovating and quality–enhancing elements in providing improved standards of services and care to
the residents of Old Age Homes as also to the potential customers of the Age Care Industry. It has
been integrated in the Old Age Homes with the specific aim of enhancing their autonomy in daily
living and participation in the activities and management of services. 3.1 The study design is
based on the perspective of users of the Old Age Homes in India. Older persons face a number of
challenges as a result of increased likelihood of having Physical, Sensory, and Cognitive Deficits in
their lives. Technologies are being used to supplement human care–giving (involving both the
care–provider and the care–receiver) since these help increase the autonomy of elders and enable
them to "age in place". Such technologies are gradually beginning to find a place in the Indian
society as well, both at the level of home
modifications and personal use, and, in institutions created for the Senior Citizens. However, such
use is often restricted to people with education, resources and awareness; institutions have relied on
many such technologies as part of the process to make

Descriptive Essay On The Old House
The old house has been abandoned for years but on one day I saw a light shine throw the old
house window. I thought to myself wondering how there was a light no one lives there. At least
that's what I always thought.... One day I had decided to go to the old house to see if there really
was someone there I walked up to the house and I nervously moved my hand towards the door to
knock I heard a big crash and, a loud scream like someone was possessed so I ran back home. I told
myself tomorrow I will go back to try again. So the next day I went back to the old abandoned house
to go knock on the front door and I saw a raven flying across the water. It was almost as if the
raven was protecting the old house. For whatever may be inside the old house.
I was so nervous but my mind was in a different universe telling me you must go inside the house
and find out the truth of the old abandoned house. So I keep on walking going towards the old house.
My whole body was shaking in despite of what might be inside. Wondering to myself is someone in
there is someone hurt is someone getting killed whats going on all these questions running through
my brain...
So I approached the door and I moved my hand to knock once then twice the door flung open and
it was dark inside but I caught myself just walking I could not stop I don't know why I keep on
walking. Then I heard the scream again I ran up the stairs scared but I knew I could not stop so I

Essay on Getting Older
Getting Older
With this changing world around us; everyone has different feelings and thoughts about getting
older. Some people are afraid to get older while others anticipate it. The select few might even try
to delay the process by having surgical procedures done to have their body appear to be younger. In
these next couple pages I am about to discuss the answers from interviews I preformed. All of the
questions were geared towards the aging process and the person's feelings about growing older. I
asked 5 different cohorts (1) the same exact questions. The grouping of the ages was as follows: 1
person from each cohort – age 6–15, I chose 11 year old girl Kayla; age 16–25, I chose 20 year old
Tara; age 26–40, I chose 27 year old...show more content...
But John and Douglas had stated positives that had already happened in their lives such as having
and raising children and grandchildren along with the ability to watch them grow, mature, gain their
own independence, and even begin to start a whole new family of their own.
I feel that most people below the age of around 40 go through their lives sometimes not truly
appreciating the positives, but looking forward to becoming released from restrictions. I do
believe the older a person gets, the wiser they become, not only from gaining knowledge as they
travel down the road of life, but gaining experience and the sense to know, realize and truly
appreciate how their cards of life had been dealt in front of them. When responding to the fears and
bad things about the aging process the answers varied considerably. The group had had dreaded
dying, your body wearing down (2), their health status (3), as well as needing long term care (4) and
nursing homes (5).
Everyone knows about the biological process of aging. Typically, without using technical terms
that not everyone is used to, most if not all people know that when you get older you gain
wrinkles and your hair color slowly fades to white or grey. Though people know that everyone has
to go through this process, some easier than others, we still fear and loathe this process. I believe
that part of the international feeling of dread about

Should Children Take Care of Their Aging Parents
Should Children Take Care of Their Aging Parents
Why some people send their aging parents to a nursing home? The answer is that some people do
not want to take care of their elderly parents and some people think nursing home care gives the
elderly a better care. Most people believe that taking care of aging parents is their children's
responsibility. In different countries of the world, people live according to their own cultural
values. They have the right to express their own opinion .Some people believe that children should
take care of their aging parents; others think children should not take care of their aging parents. I
strongly agree that children should take care of their aging parents for some reasons.
To begin with, they gave us life. Parents who help us to grow up; without them we would not be in
this world. Parents took care of us when we were completely helpless and in need. They provided
shelter, clothes, medicine whatever we needed at that time; also they provided education, and teach
us how we could survive in this world. Parents always try to make their children able and they want
to see them a successful person. Sometime parents even kill their own desire and happiness to make
their children successful. Therefore, they have right to expect something from their children in their
old age. Parents are like God; they are the most precious in our life.
Another reason is that aging parents need better care which they only get at home because only their

Old Age Homes: A Lucrative Business Opportunity
Old Age Homes В–Why it can be a Lucrative Business Opportunity
Synopsis
Genesis
In the Vedic times, human life of a hundred years was divided into four segments or ashrams. A
seven year old was supposed to live in Brahmacharya – ashram / gurukul or a present day distant
equivalent of a boarding school till his twenties. The second quarter of his life was to be spent as a
householder or a Grhasthya. In the third quarter, he was to retire from routine household activities
and set out into the forests, which was called Vanaprastha– ashram. This was the stage where
contemporaries lived together, in probably what could be called a rough equivalent of a "retirement
retreat". The last quarter of his life was to be spent in his search for God...show more content...
For eg, travel a distance to meet your friends, travel to the doctor – if the person is not suffering
from a serious ailment, travel to the club, and so on.
It is a fast growing idea with a huge market. Although poor old destitutes do need shelter and should
have separate, and very differently managed, old age homes for them at no or low cost, an old age
home should no more be looked at as just a "charitable institution" or asylum.
It should be taken seriously as a lucrative venture. It should involve management as a career option
just like in hotels and resorts.
This project will show how concepts from our age–old Vedic roots can be combined with modern
thought to provide the perfect physical, material, emotional, psychological and spiritual solution to
problems faced by senior persons today. This project looks into real–life issues that people have in
moving into an old age home, and attempts to provide solutions to them through proper planning and
application of effective management techniques. This leads us to a very lucrative option for
organizational management.
Historic Genesis
Our Indian tradition regards the Vedas to be the fundamental scriptures of knowledge within which
is encapsulated the art of living life, the right way.
In Vedic India, the ordinary family life was called a life of the hermitage (ashram or discipline). The
family man knew that there were four ashrams or shelters through which he must pass В–

The On Old Age And Death
Aging and death are natural processes and all living creatures are bound by this phenomenon. There
is simply no escape from this universal and immutable law of nature. This subject is widely
discussed in the Kalam–e–Mawla, which is a poetic composition in Hindi of the teachings of Imam
Aly (AS).
In verse two–hundred–and–thirty, the Imam states that old age brings with it the tidings of death and
should prompt an individual to be heedful and accumulate earnings for the Hereafter. The Imam
compares black hair (youth) to a night of heedlessness, when one's entire life is spent in slumber of
ignorance. On the other hand, He compares grey hair (old age) to the emergence of daylight of
awareness and heedfulness, when one realizes that only a little portion of one's capital, in the form
of life, remains at his disposal.
Continuing the discourse on old age and death, the Imam says in verse
two–hundred–and–thirty–seven, with advancing years, one should constantly remain mindful of
death. He reminds us that the angel of death hovers over our heads and therefore, young and old
alike, should not consider death afar. The Imam concludes that the light of God dawns in the hearts
of those who realize the nearness of death and, as a result, remain conscious of God and act piously
at all times.
Verse two–hundred–thirty–nine conveys a candid reminder to us about the certainty of death and the
perishable nature of this world. The Imam says that the message of death and the perishable

Abstract
The elderly population is rising globally and similar trends are being observed not only in Asia but
also in Pakistan. A developing country facing several challenges in the form of political instability,
lack of economic growth, low savings of the elderly, weak pension system, makes life challenging
for the elderly. Pakistan's demographic trends show that between 1990 till 2010, the population aged
60+ years increased by 75.1 %. It is projected that the life expectancy will increase to 72 years by
2023. WHO report (1998) projected that 5.6 % of Pakistan's population was over 60 years of age,
with a probability of doubling to 11 % by the year 2025.

Our Religion stresses a lot on the rights of elderly people and we are asked to serve elderly
relatives of our parents if parents are not alive. We make fun of the West that they send their parents
to "Old Houses" and do not bother to inquire about them.
Now if we analyze that what is happening to elderly people especially in the poverty struck rural
areas it gives us following haunting facts : –
Elderly people die miserably due to lack of food and medical attention.
They develop psychotic disorders due to depression and dejection.
They develop certain diseases by not eating healthy food which is not providing the necessary
multi–vitamins needed to survive in the old age.
Employee's Old age benefits pension money is used by their family members.
They have very limited social life.
Lack of religious and basic education deprived them from doing anything useful to pass the time.
Children of even well settled families tend to ignore grandparents who just need to share love with
them and focus.

Reflections on Old Age with Billy Graham Essay
An important sector of society is older adults and their various contributions to future generations.
Billy Graham's book Nearing Home: Life, Faith and Finishing Well sheds light on the various
attributes of growing old and about life in general. An important idea he expresses is the influence
older adults have on society as well as their ability to leave a spiritual legacy which is far more
important than material inheritances. I also believe that older adults are essential to society and that
Graham's opinions are in tune with society and are useful to readers of all ages. Graham also
discusses two major themes of adult development: retirement and primary aging. His book can be
used to help professionals working with older adults in a...show more content...
He notes, peer pressure has always been around and that "the older generation should be looking for
ways to encourage the younger because they are constantly bombarded with wrong teaching, poor
examples and pressure tactics" (Graham, 2011, p. 115). Influencing the younger generations is
important but Graham emphasizes that the older generation needs to stay true to themselves and to
their faith, that in the end their authenticity will open the door to impacting younger generations.
Billy Graham (2011) considers this "a privilege" for the older generation and shows that the Bible
teaches older generations to pass on their knowledge to those who are younger (pp.116–117). Lastly,
he calls those in older and late adulthood to be all that God has called them to be and remember
even their attitudes and the way they chose to live out their later years makes an impression on the
younger generation. "Leaving a legacy" is another significant idea in Billy Graham's book
(Graham, 2011, 118). It highlights the importance of a life well lived as well as its impact. He
discusses that although the intensity and times of influence on one's children and grandchildren
diminishes with age that is not a reason to stop, because the older generation still has an impact. He
writes, "...the greatest legacy you can pass on to your children and grandchildren is not your money
or other material things...The greatest legacy you can pass on to them is your character and

Interview With an Elderly Person Essays
Aging and being old was dominated by negative characteristics and conditions such as illness,
depression, and isolation for a long time (Eibach, Mock, & Courtney, 2010). At first glance the
terms "success" and "aging" seem to be in conflict to each other. When asking people about aging,
their answers have many facets that are also found in psychological definitions: successful aging is
seen as health, maturity and personal growth, self–acceptance, happiness, generativity, coping, and
acceptance of age–related limitations. In the psychological sense successful aging is also often seen
as the absence of age–associated characteristics (Strawbridge, Wallhagen, & Cohen, 2002). It seems
that successful aging means is not aging. Methods I...show more content...

Old Age Homes
Introduction
"What happens to parents when space is limited in the heart and homes of their children?
Old–age homes have become popular in Bangladesh. The traditional structure of a family of
Bangladesh is turning into a fast, racy lifestyle, where ambitious youth are discarding the old values
and in turn, their parents.
The parents are forced to live out their old age alone. An old man, once the head of the family is
now a subdued member of a house of strangers. The woman who once happily cooked three meals a
day is now forbidden from entering the community kitchen. There are no phones in the old–age
center, and the residents know no one will ask for them. The wrinkles on their faces are as
pronounced as the pains of being discarded. The...show more content...
Lastly I will put question when old homes can be beneficial for our country.
I intend to find answers to such questions through my research work. The primary data will be
collected by interviewing and passing questionnaires to the general citizens of Dhaka city. To further
clarify matters, I will take help from a wide range of interesting secondary sources. They mostly
include the related materials published in the books, internet, newspapers, magazines, journals,
reports, motion pictures and even in a song. By integrating my primary and secondary data, I hope to
give conclusive evidence to support my hypothesis.
In brief, the hypothesis I am aiming to prove in this research is that, our parents do not deserve to
live in an old home at their old age and the children of our country should keep their parents with
them till their last breath.
Areas of Research
Through the research paper I intend to do my research about the following areas:
1. Introduction of old homes in Bangladesh.
a. When it was first introduced in Bangladesh?
b. Who organized these old homes?
c. What kind of elderly people first started to reside there?
My finding was from 1960, by a private initiative– Bangladesh Association for the Aged and Institute
of Geriatric Medicine (BAAIGM) is working with the elderly issue for this country. This is way
before any government action was taken. But the first old home was established in 1994 at Gazipur
and the Nobel

Descriptive Essay On The Old House
I turned around, looking back at my old room. The paint on the wall is peeling off, the ceiling
was falling apart, and the floor was cracking open. This was the house I have been living for
thirteen years, and now I need to leave. Mom and dad bought this house from an old man, then
thirteen years past, this is 2004. yes, it is already 2004, how fast is it! I stood there, staring at the
empty room with only a little furniture. I can't feel home, where is my home? I don't know this
weird feeling. Happy and sad at the same time. However, if I left, is it going to be an enjoyable
life, or it is going to be another way that leads me to my doom? I kept repeating in my mind. Isn't
this what I was always hoping? To leave this old and dirty house? I told myself to not panic. I
turned and look at the broken window, the reflection of myself. Dark black hair, brown eyes, and
a friendly smile. Everyone like me in this village, if I move to a new place, they will like me too.
Would they? Everything is fine as I expected. But, as I step into our old truck, as I heard the old
engine's rumbling sound, I suddenly realized what am I facing. I am facing the unknown, it's like a
black hole, you never know what is going to happen when you step inside. It's endless. As this

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Old Age Home
Sometimes visitors visits the old age home at their happiest occasions like Birthday, Wedding day,
remembering of the family members or at any festival times. They bought some blankets, food items,
sweets and some other products which is needed by the inmates. At that time there is a clash between
the inmates to get that product. Indian government help those poor people by implementing various
schemes like National Old Age Pension Scheme (NOAP) which was introduced to provide Rupees
200 per month to the old and destitute people. But money cannot take place of emotional support,
care etc. In 2007, The Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and senior Citizen Act (Senior Citizen
Act) is enacted to provide some speedy and inexpensive remedy to get maintenance. The bill
provides for
a) Appropriate mechanism to be set–up to provide need–based maintenance to the parents and senior
citizens
b) Providing better medical facilities to them
c) For institutionalization of a suitable, mechanism for protection of life and property of older persons

Crisis Intervention
Often, the contact between Social Worker and client occurs at a stage of crisis which can be the
onset of critical illness, sudden loss or other life transitions where the older person's normal coping
strategies are no longer sufficient to manage the current stressors. Crisis intervention theory is based
on psychodynamic ego–psychology and its focus is on increasing the client's emotional capacity to
deal with the problem.
5.4.Task–Centred
Task–centered practice is a systematic and goal–directed framework where the Social Work
intervention is time limited. The focus is mainly on the "here and now" and task centered practice
deals with eight problem areas which are psychosocial in nature and can affect many older clients:
1) Interpersonal conflict

Essay On Old Age
Ageing is a natural and inevitable consequence of human life. Once born, there is no scope for a
man from old age. Old age brings both physical infirmity and social predicament. The Major social
problem of older people is their adjustment to their surrounding social world in general and their
immediate families in particular. In foreseeable era, old peoples were taken care of in a joint family

the society at large. And their family treated them humanely and with care and sympathy. Advent of

My Old House
My old house has some of my greatest memories and experiences as a child. My mom, dad, uncle
and grandma were the caretakers of me, my older brother, and two older sisters. As you can tell, we
had a huge family. They immigrated to America 20 years ago to start a family. I remembered we
had a huge back yard with a lot of nature around. My parents who were farmers really knew how to
take care of plants and animals. Every day my parents would tend to their garden. Life was very
carefree. I remembered vividly my fond memories of my childhood. I remember watching scary
movies with my siblings in the living room sitting on the sofa. Some of my favorite movies were
scary movies like "Children of the Corn" or "Goosebumps". The only problem was having
nightmares or dreams of ghosts or spirits walking across my room. I remembered a big white blur
floating through the edge of my bed where my parents and my siblings all slept together. The
creepy part was having a huge mirror in the room where it was believed to be the gateway to and
from other dimensions, or when I thought I saw my sister transform into a demon right before my
eyes. I remember not being able to sleep all night because of it. I remembered waking up in the
middle of the night with sweat running throughout my body. Things were freaky and paranormal but
in the end, I realized that things were normal. Watching all those scary movies

Essay on Neglect of the Elderly
The Neglect of the Elderly
With the growing number of senior citizens in our expanding society, abuse and neglect of the
elderly is a widespread issue in our society. Neglect can come in many ugly forms and can be
quite horrifying when actually investigated. When we as a society fail to meet the needs of our
senior community we are only creating a perhaps dreadful prelude to our own inevitable destiny.
Elder neglect is the failure to fulfill obligations to a senior citizen. According to one report, it
accounts for 49% of elder abuse cases (Protecting the Older Adult, Nursing, July 2000). Neglect
comes in many forms. A caregiver is required to supply sufficient amounts of nourishment, a
comfortable shelter, safety,...show more content...
(Litigating the Pressure Sore Case, Lesley Clement, Forum Vol. 30 (6), August 2000). A resident
that is bedridden or confined to a wheelchair must be repositioned at least every two hours in
order to relieve pressure on specific areas. Bedsores that are neglected or untreated can cause
tissue to deteriorate becoming painfully infected. Prevention requires adequate staffing putting in
time and actual effort. The fact whether the neglect was intentional or not is not the important
issue, it is whether the safety of the resident has been compromised as in allowing a resident with
Alzheimers to roam unsupervised outside the facility. Staff may be more susceptible to elder
abuse if they are stressed by too many responsibilities, are deficient in training, work under
deprived conditions or just not suited to care giving in nursing homes. Many elders who are cared
for in the homes of their family members, who are responsible for their direct care, are also being
abused through neglect. This type of neglect is harder to detect. Friends and members of the family
might just chalk up signs of abuse to the fact that the elder might be showing signs of dementia or
just basic old age syndrome. Elders may not be able to stand up for themselves in abusive
conditions especially if they are frail and not thinking, seeing or hearing as well as they used to.
They depend on their caregivers to assist them. Family

Essay On Old Age Homes

  • 1. Speech On Old Age The old age is viewed as a state of withdrawal. It is a state of withdrawal from active life resulting in decreased interaction. Indian value system and social structure has undergone change. Changes in the social institutions like the joint family, weakening economic pressures, weak physique of the aged, high rising prevalence are largely affecting the elderly. The capacity to welcome them just as they are is the fundamental response to elderly problems; surely all of them deserve recognition and respect. Social gerontology was given a formal recognition in sociological and psychological literature. The care and diseases of the old known as Geriatrics came into existence as a special branch of medical science. The greatest hopes for a long life emerge towards an old age is not then by chance where the years of life thereby succeeded are lacking of hope. Majority of the elderly feel that they are burden on society, role less, powerless, ignored, and unable to contribute with the younger generation they interfere. The important indicators of the old age are beliefs, attitudes, speech, dress and style. In India, traditionally the elderly assign a place of respect and honour as compiled by social values, norm and religion. The...show more content... In fact aging is not just biological but psychological and sociological. No doubt, aging is a physiological phenomenon but the problems of the aged are sociological. The number of the aged above 60 is likely to go up from 350 million in 1975 to 590 million in 2005 according to UNESCO estimate. In developing countries more than half of them live. India alone had 43 million old people in 1981. The number of aged in future would increase at a much faster rate than ever before. Almost half a billion people, more than 90 percent world's population were over 60 years in 1990 that number will triple to 1.4 billion by Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The size of the elderly rose in absolute terms during the last century from 12 million in 1901 to approximately 71 million in 2001 and is likely to reach 113 million in 2016. Yet another feature of ageing in India is the fact that the proportion of elderly is much higher in the rural areas than in the urban areas. The sex–wise pattern of growth of elderly population reveals that the increase is greater among women in the recent past, which indicates that elderly women will outnumber elderly men in the future. There is therefore an urgent need to examine the various aspects of this new and fast growing population to ensure the design of appropriate policy and programmes directed to meet the varied needs of this vulnerable and dependent group. India, like many traditional societies, today faces a unique situation in providing care for its elderly as the existing old–age support structures in the form of family, kith and kin, are fast eroding and the elderly are ill–equipped to cope alone with their lives in the face of infirmity and disability. The onus of caring for the elderly is therefore now much more on the state than the family and will necessitate the creation of adequate institutional support. While the western countries have a fairly well organised network of institutions for the care of the elderly, the growth and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Old Age Home Is Good or Bad Technology–integration in Old Age Homes in India A Status Paper Sugan Bhatia, Ph.D. President Indian University Association for Continuing Education Delhi 1.1 The elderly (aged 60 years and above) in India account for more than 9 percent of the total population. The National Population Commission estimated that the population of the elderly is expected to grow from 71 million in 2001 to 173 million in 2026. This demographic scenario appears to indicate a very precarious condition for the older persons in terms of their capability to enjoy the right to life with dignity. It has been integrated in the Old Age Homes with the specific aim of enhancing their autonomy in daily living and participation in the activities and management of services. 3.1 The study design is based on the perspective of users of the Old Age Homes in India. Older persons face a number of challenges as a result of increased likelihood of having Physical, Sensory, and Cognitive Deficits in their lives. Technologies are being used to supplement human care–giving (involving both the care–provider and the care–receiver) since these help increase the autonomy of elders and enable them to "age in place". Such technologies are gradually beginning to find a place in the Indian society as well, both at the level of home modifications and personal use, and, in institutions created for the Senior Citizens. However, such use is often restricted to people with education, resources and awareness; institutions have relied on many such technologies as part of the process to make Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Descriptive Essay On The Old House The old house has been abandoned for years but on one day I saw a light shine throw the old house window. I thought to myself wondering how there was a light no one lives there. At least that's what I always thought.... One day I had decided to go to the old house to see if there really was someone there I walked up to the house and I nervously moved my hand towards the door to knock I heard a big crash and, a loud scream like someone was possessed so I ran back home. I told myself tomorrow I will go back to try again. So the next day I went back to the old abandoned house to go knock on the front door and I saw a raven flying across the water. It was almost as if the raven was protecting the old house. For whatever may be inside the old house. I was so nervous but my mind was in a different universe telling me you must go inside the house and find out the truth of the old abandoned house. So I keep on walking going towards the old house. My whole body was shaking in despite of what might be inside. Wondering to myself is someone in there is someone hurt is someone getting killed whats going on all these questions running through my brain... So I approached the door and I moved my hand to knock once then twice the door flung open and it was dark inside but I caught myself just walking I could not stop I don't know why I keep on walking. Then I heard the scream again I ran up the stairs scared but I knew I could not stop so I keep on running up stairs the stairs were getting Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Some people are afraid to get older while others anticipate it. The select few might even try to delay the process by having surgical procedures done to have their body appear to be younger. In these next couple pages I am about to discuss the answers from interviews I preformed. All of the questions were geared towards the aging process and the person's feelings about growing older. I asked 5 different cohorts (1) the same exact questions. The grouping of the ages was as follows: 1 person from each cohort – age 6–15, I chose 11 year old girl Kayla; age 16–25, I chose 20 year old Tara; age 26–40, I chose 27 year old...show more content... But John and Douglas had stated positives that had already happened in their lives such as having and raising children and grandchildren along with the ability to watch them grow, mature, gain their own independence, and even begin to start a whole new family of their own. I feel that most people below the age of around 40 go through their lives sometimes not truly appreciating the positives, but looking forward to becoming released from restrictions. I do believe the older a person gets, the wiser they become, not only from gaining knowledge as they travel down the road of life, but gaining experience and the sense to know, realize and truly appreciate how their cards of life had been dealt in front of them. When responding to the fears and bad things about the aging process the answers varied considerably. The group had had dreaded dying, your body wearing down (2), their health status (3), as well as needing long term care (4) and nursing homes (5). Everyone knows about the biological process of aging. Typically, without using technical terms that not everyone is used to, most if not all people know that when you get older you gain wrinkles and your hair color slowly fades to white or grey. Though people know that everyone has to go through this process, some easier than others, we still fear and loathe this process. • 7. Should Children Take Care of Their Aging Parents Should Children Take Care of Their Aging Parents Why some people send their aging parents to a nursing home? The answer is that some people do not want to take care of their elderly parents and some people think nursing home care gives the elderly a better care. Most people believe that taking care of aging parents is their children's responsibility. In different countries of the world, people live according to their own cultural values. They have the right to express their own opinion .Some people believe that children should take care of their aging parents; others think children should not take care of their aging parents. I strongly agree that children should take care of their aging parents for some reasons. To begin with, they gave us life. Parents who help us to grow up; without them we would not be in this world. Parents took care of us when we were completely helpless and in need. They provided shelter, clothes, medicine whatever we needed at that time; also they provided education, and teach us how we could survive in this world. Parents always try to make their children able and they want to see them a successful person. Sometime parents even kill their own desire and happiness to make their children successful. Therefore, they have right to expect something from their children in their old age. Parents are like God; they are the most precious in our life. Another reason is that aging parents need better care which they only get at home because only their children Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Old Age Homes: A Lucrative Business Opportunity Old Age Homes В–Why it can be a Lucrative Business Opportunity Synopsis Genesis In the Vedic times, human life of a hundred years was divided into four segments or ashrams. A seven year old was supposed to live in Brahmacharya – ashram / gurukul or a present day distant equivalent of a boarding school till his twenties. The second quarter of his life was to be spent as a householder or a Grhasthya. In the third quarter, he was to retire from routine household activities and set out into the forests, which was called Vanaprastha– ashram. This was the stage where contemporaries lived together, in probably what could be called a rough equivalent of a "retirement retreat". It is a fast growing idea with a huge market. Although poor old destitutes do need shelter and should have separate, and very differently managed, old age homes for them at no or low cost, an old age home should no more be looked at as just a "charitable institution" or asylum. It should be taken seriously as a lucrative venture. It should involve management as a career option just like in hotels and resorts. This project will show how concepts from our age–old Vedic roots can be combined with modern thought to provide the perfect physical, material, emotional, psychological and spiritual solution to problems faced by senior persons today. This project looks into real–life issues that people have in moving into an old age home, and attempts to provide solutions to them through proper planning and application of effective management techniques. This leads us to a very lucrative option for organizational management. • 9. The On Old Age And Death Aging and death are natural processes and all living creatures are bound by this phenomenon. There is simply no escape from this universal and immutable law of nature. This subject is widely discussed in the Kalam–e–Mawla, which is a poetic composition in Hindi of the teachings of Imam Aly (AS). In verse two–hundred–and–thirty, the Imam states that old age brings with it the tidings of death and should prompt an individual to be heedful and accumulate earnings for the Hereafter. The Imam compares black hair (youth) to a night of heedlessness, when one's entire life is spent in slumber of ignorance. On the other hand, He compares grey hair (old age) to the emergence of daylight of awareness and heedfulness, when one realizes that only a little portion of one's capital, in the form of life, remains at his disposal. Continuing the discourse on old age and death, the Imam says in verse two–hundred–and–thirty–seven, with advancing years, one should constantly remain mindful of death. He reminds us that the angel of death hovers over our heads and therefore, young and old alike, should not consider death afar. The Imam concludes that the light of God dawns in the hearts of those who realize the nearness of death and, as a result, remain conscious of God and act piously at all times. Verse two–hundred–thirty–nine conveys a candid reminder to us about the certainty of death and the perishable nature of this world. A developing country facing several challenges in the form of political instability, lack of economic growth, low savings of the elderly, weak pension system, makes life challenging for the elderly. Pakistan's demographic trends show that between 1990 till 2010, the population aged 60+ years increased by 75.1 %. It is projected that the life expectancy will increase to 72 years by 2023. WHO report (1998) projected that 5.6 % of Pakistan's population was over 60 years of age, with a probability of doubling to 11 % by the year 2025. They develop certain diseases by not eating healthy food which is not providing the necessary multi–vitamins needed to survive in the old age. • 11. Reflections on Old Age with Billy Graham Essay An important sector of society is older adults and their various contributions to future generations. Billy Graham's book Nearing Home: Life, Faith and Finishing Well sheds light on the various attributes of growing old and about life in general. An important idea he expresses is the influence older adults have on society as well as their ability to leave a spiritual legacy which is far more important than material inheritances. I also believe that older adults are essential to society and that Graham's opinions are in tune with society and are useful to readers of all ages. Graham also discusses two major themes of adult development: retirement and primary aging. His book can be used to help professionals working with older adults in a...show more content... He notes, peer pressure has always been around and that "the older generation should be looking for ways to encourage the younger because they are constantly bombarded with wrong teaching, poor examples and pressure tactics" (Graham, 2011, p. 115). Influencing the younger generations is important but Graham emphasizes that the older generation needs to stay true to themselves and to their faith, that in the end their authenticity will open the door to impacting younger generations. Billy Graham (2011) considers this "a privilege" for the older generation and shows that the Bible teaches older generations to pass on their knowledge to those who are younger (pp.116–117). Lastly, he calls those in older and late adulthood to be all that God has called them to be and remember even their attitudes and the way they chose to live out their later years makes an impression on the younger generation. "Leaving a legacy" is another significant idea in Billy Graham's book (Graham, 2011, 118). It highlights the importance of a life well lived as well as its impact. He discusses that although the intensity and times of influence on one's children and grandchildren diminishes with age that is not a reason to stop, because the older generation still has an impact. He writes, "...the greatest legacy you can pass on to your children and grandchildren is not your money or other material things...The greatest legacy you can pass on to them is your character and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Interview With an Elderly Person Essays Aging and being old was dominated by negative characteristics and conditions such as illness, depression, and isolation for a long time (Eibach, Mock, & Courtney, 2010). At first glance the terms "success" and "aging" seem to be in conflict to each other. When asking people about aging, their answers have many facets that are also found in psychological definitions: successful aging is seen as health, maturity and personal growth, self–acceptance, happiness, generativity, coping, and acceptance of age–related limitations. In the psychological sense successful aging is also often seen as the absence of age–associated characteristics (Strawbridge, Wallhagen, & Cohen, 2002). It seems that successful aging means is not aging. Methods I...show more content... 2. Which part of aging are you the least satisfied with? This question can be seen as a follow up question of the first. If there are any negative aspects she sees in life, this question will present the details. 3. Where did you see yourself at this age? This question might explain any happiness or unhappiness my aunt experiences. Her past ideas about her life could give clues as to why she is happy or unhappy. 4. Is there something that surprised you about aging? This is a follow up to question 3. 5. If you could go back, what changes would you make? This question gives my aunt the opportunity to reflect on her past and think about what she would change if she could. 6. If you could tell your younger self something, what would it be? I added this question during the interview because of her answer to question 5. 7. You live alone. How do you manage your everyday life? I was curious to hear how she is coping with her age–related limitations. 8. What positive aspects do you see when getting older? This question is supposed to turn the conversation towards a more positive experience. It is often easy to see what problems aging causes but it is equally important to understand that aging can also have positive aspects. In case my aunt would answer any of the prior questions negatively, this is the chance to end the interview on a better note. The answers to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Old Age Homes Introduction "What happens to parents when space is limited in the heart and homes of their children? Old–age homes have become popular in Bangladesh. The traditional structure of a family of Bangladesh is turning into a fast, racy lifestyle, where ambitious youth are discarding the old values and in turn, their parents. The parents are forced to live out their old age alone. An old man, once the head of the family is now a subdued member of a house of strangers. The woman who once happily cooked three meals a day is now forbidden from entering the community kitchen. There are no phones in the old–age center, and the residents know no one will ask for them. The wrinkles on their faces are as pronounced as the pains of being discarded. The...show more content... Lastly I will put question when old homes can be beneficial for our country. I intend to find answers to such questions through my research work. The primary data will be collected by interviewing and passing questionnaires to the general citizens of Dhaka city. To further clarify matters, I will take help from a wide range of interesting secondary sources. They mostly include the related materials published in the books, internet, newspapers, magazines, journals, reports, motion pictures and even in a song. By integrating my primary and secondary data, I hope to give conclusive evidence to support my hypothesis. In brief, the hypothesis I am aiming to prove in this research is that, our parents do not deserve to live in an old home at their old age and the children of our country should keep their parents with them till their last breath. Areas of Research Through the research paper I intend to do my research about the following areas: 1. Introduction of old homes in Bangladesh. a. When it was first introduced in Bangladesh? b. Who organized these old homes? c. What kind of elderly people first started to reside there? My finding was from 1960, by a private initiative– Bangladesh Association for the Aged and Institute of Geriatric Medicine (BAAIGM) is working with the elderly issue for this country. This is way before any government action was taken. But the first old home was established in 1994 at Gazipur and the Nobel Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Descriptive Essay On The Old House I turned around, looking back at my old room. The paint on the wall is peeling off, the ceiling was falling apart, and the floor was cracking open. This was the house I have been living for thirteen years, and now I need to leave. Mom and dad bought this house from an old man, then thirteen years past, this is 2004. yes, it is already 2004, how fast is it! I stood there, staring at the empty room with only a little furniture. I can't feel home, where is my home? I don't know this weird feeling. Happy and sad at the same time. However, if I left, is it going to be an enjoyable life, or it is going to be another way that leads me to my doom? I kept repeating in my mind. Isn't this what I was always hoping? To leave this old and dirty house? I told myself to not panic. I turned and look at the broken window, the reflection of myself. Dark black hair, brown eyes, and a friendly smile. Everyone like me in this village, if I move to a new place, they will like me too. Would they? Everything is fine as I expected. But, as I step into our old truck, as I heard the old engine's rumbling sound, I suddenly realized what am I facing. I am facing the unknown, it's like a black hole, you never know what is going to happen when you step inside. It's endless. As this thought continuously flows through my mind, my eye lid started to felt heavier, heavier and heavier as the truck slowly drives on the muddy road. Followed by the rumbling sound of the truck, I slept on the back seat. I felt Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I divided it into male–female category to know what they think about aged parents. Surprisingly most of the respondents (25) think aged parents become burden for them. And another amazing reason they chose that after just getting married they want to live alone rather to live with their parents. Here I found the female respondent more supportive than male. The annoying grand children option did not work that much. Only 2 female chose this behind sending parents to old homes. But in the forth option I did not expect any tick mark but there are people in our country who leaves their homes willingly. 5 responses were in other category. 11.It is the breakup of the system of the joint family and the introduction of a nuclear family that has brought this unhappy situation enter our society and the old age homes have come up to cater to the needs of the elderly. 12.Besides this, since the women have started working out of homes, there is now, no one to look after the routine needs of the elders at home. • 18. Descriptive Essay : My Old House Kenneth Lee Ms. Fenenbock Eng105 8/29/13 Descriptive Essay: Final Draft My Old House My old house has some of my greatest memories and experiences as a child. My mom, dad, uncle and grandma were the caretakers of me, my older brother, and two older sisters. As you can tell, we had a huge family. They immigrated to America 20 years ago to start a family. I remembered we had a huge back yard with a lot of nature around. My parents who were farmers really knew how to take care of plants and animals. Every day my parents would tend to their garden. Life was very carefree. I remembered vividly my fond memories of my childhood. I remember watching scary movies with my siblings in the living room sitting on the sofa. Some of my favorite movies were scary movies like "Children of the Corn" or "Goosebumps". The only problem was having nightmares or dreams of ghosts or spirits walking across my room. I remembered a big white blur floating through the edge of my bed where my parents and my siblings all slept together. The creepy part was having a huge mirror in the room where it was believed to be the gateway to and from other dimensions, or when I thought I saw my sister transform into a demon right before my eyes. I remember not being able to sleep all night because of it. I remembered waking up in the middle of the night with sweat running throughout my body. Things were freaky and paranormal but in the end, I realized that things were normal. Watching all those scary movies Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Essay on Neglect of the Elderly The Neglect of the Elderly With the growing number of senior citizens in our expanding society, abuse and neglect of the elderly is a widespread issue in our society. Neglect can come in many ugly forms and can be quite horrifying when actually investigated. When we as a society fail to meet the needs of our senior community we are only creating a perhaps dreadful prelude to our own inevitable destiny. Elder neglect is the failure to fulfill obligations to a senior citizen. According to one report, it accounts for 49% of elder abuse cases (Protecting the Older Adult, Nursing, July 2000). Neglect comes in many forms. A caregiver is required to supply sufficient amounts of nourishment, a comfortable shelter, safety,...show more content... (Litigating the Pressure Sore Case, Lesley Clement, Forum Vol. 30 (6), August 2000). A resident that is bedridden or confined to a wheelchair must be repositioned at least every two hours in order to relieve pressure on specific areas. Bedsores that are neglected or untreated can cause tissue to deteriorate becoming painfully infected. Prevention requires adequate staffing putting in time and actual effort. The fact whether the neglect was intentional or not is not the important issue, it is whether the safety of the resident has been compromised as in allowing a resident with Alzheimers to roam unsupervised outside the facility. Staff may be more susceptible to elder abuse if they are stressed by too many responsibilities, are deficient in training, work under deprived conditions or just not suited to care giving in nursing homes. Many elders who are cared for in the homes of their family members, who are responsible for their direct care, are also being abused through neglect. This type of neglect is harder to detect. Friends and members of the family might just chalk up signs of abuse to the fact that the elder might be showing signs of dementia or just basic old age syndrome. Elders may not be able to stand up for themselves in abusive conditions especially if they are frail and not thinking, seeing or hearing as well as they used to. They depend on their caregivers to assist them. Family Get more content on HelpWriting.net
