  13. 13. 2000’s<br /><ul><li>With a delayed production Sony Playstation 2 hits the shelves on 2000 but soon after it’s release all stores run out and who ever wanted a console will have to buy it from eBay at twice the retail price or wait for stores to re-stock</li></ul>- Nintendo releases the “Game Cube” with special 8cm game disks<br />- Microsoft enters the video game industry with the XBOX console<br />- Consoles are produced with great graphics, DVD, online play and some with Hard Drive<br /><ul><li>By mid 2000’s production of consoles comes down to a few BIG players</li></ul> - Nintendo – with the “Wii” system (previous name REVOLUTION)<br />- Microsoft with “XBOX 360”<br />- Sony – with “Playstation 3”<br /><ul><li>Companies focus on new technology</li></ul>- Microsoft – Wireless connection, HD DVD and graphics<br />- Sony – Wireless connection, Blue Ray and graphics<br />- Nintendo – Wireless connection and body interaction (family friendly)<br />
  14. 14. 2000’s ( continued )<br /><ul><li>When production was planned for the XBOX 360, Wii and Playstation 3 it was taken into account the backwards compatibility for old games. </li></ul>- Nintendo Wii was released on 2006 with a new revolutionary control that had accelerometers and infrared detection to sense its position in 3D space<br />- Microsoft is released in 2005 with wireless controls, headsets and Ethernet connectivity for online gaming. HD cables that can also connect to regular TVs<br />- Sony releases Playstation 3 in 2006 with wireless controls, Ethernet connectivity and the worst enemy of Microsoft the Blue Ray<br /> - During the first weeks that the Playstation 3 was released consoles were sold for $2300 Dlls on eBay<br />- Violence during the release of the PS3 included a costumer shot and several campers robbed at gunpoint<br />- Two GameStop employees fabricated a robbery to cover up their own theft of several PS3s and four XBOX 360<br />
  15. 15. Microsoft XBOX 360<br />Hard drive of 20GB and 60GB<br />Accessories for XBOX 360 are the wireless modem, WEB camera, HD DVD drive and extra controllers<br />Each new game release retails at $59.99 <br />

XBOX 360 (Problems that caused a new release)<br />XBOX 360 had several problems after it’s release:<br />- Consoles Graphics chip heats up causing RED ring of Death<br />Extra costs for add-ons: Wireless, Web Cam and HD DVD<br />Users pay for ONLINE Play $49.99 for 12 month service<br />HD DVD was dropped from production after it lost the battle against SONY’s Blueray on March 2008<br />Due to this and many more problems Microsoft Modified its console and accessories <br />
