Devotions on the Small Catechism
by Richard E. Lauersdorf
One of a small number of devotional books discussing Martin
Luther's Small Catechism, As Luther Taught the Word of Truth
contains 58 devotions that will deepen your understanding
of scriptural application. Each devotion penetrates a
concept or phrase found in one of five chief parts of the
catechism. The author also uses personal remembrances to
connect with resonant events in the reader's life. At the
heart of every devotion is the comforting message of the
gospel, which is just as Luther taught the Word of Truth.

Jane Schlenvogt examines this God-given privilege in her
book The Gift of Prayer. In it she marvels at the gift of
prayer, uses the Lord's Prayer to discuss the various
aspects of this gift, and gives some practical advice about
how to pray and about how to receive the bLessings tnat

Lutheran Comfort in the Resurrection

visual experience of death. Beginning with Jesus' own
resurrection, she leads the reader through Scripture's
teachings about our own resurrection and the joys of
heaven that await all who are clothed in Christ's right-
eousness. The book is tied together by the metaphor of a
thread woven into a garment representing the thread of
resurrection hope that is woven into the very fabric of our
Christian faith. Papercover. 109 pages.
