Responding to an ever-transforming world - Paul Dinte

Right after lunch at the last day of the IIC Partners annual global meeting in Stockholm, Paul and I decided to have a coffee and continue the discussion we started about his professional Walkabout.
Because of his 35 year Walkabout experience, I’m curious to find out how he has seen the industry change and how he makes sure his firm stays at the top of its game.

So Paul, what are some of the main changes you have witnessed in your business in the past years?

Well, there have been many changes in theory. However, I think where we are today is that we've come to the recognition, as have our clients as they transform their businesses, we also have to transform our business. It's not good enough anymore to be just an executive search firm.   And how do you go about that?
We have to think and act strategically and we have to engage with different capabilities that our clients demand of us in order to help them grow their businesses and leverage their organizations as they go through transformation.   Sometimes it might be that we're helping them think through questions such as: “What does their leadership team need to look like for the next five years?”
  3. 3. Or it might be helping them think about their competitors and what they are doing differently. And then it may be about what people are doing in other industries, how we can bring those to our client’s organization. And finally, how can we execute that through an executive search assignment where we look at candidates that we wouldn't ordinarily see in our so-called swimlanes. So for us it's really important to understand what our clients think, what they're planning and how they’re strategically going to market. Many of the insights that we obtain come both from our clients and our partners across the world. People in different places and situations are doing different things and we need to creatively bring those to Dinte, and offer them to our clients to help them build, grow and leverage their organizations, so that they are always ready for the future.   Paul Dinte CEO Dinte Executive Search
