2. Olympics In London
London has hosted the Olympic Games on past two occasions , in
1908 and 1948, with a third scheduled for 2012. The planned 2012 Summer
Olympics will make London the first city to have hosted the modern Games of
three Olympiads. London is the only city in the United Kingdom to have ever
hosted the Olympics; the United States is the only country to have hosted Summer
Olympics on more occasions than the UK. No city in the UK has hosted the Winter
Olympic Games.
2012 Summer Olympics
The 2012 Summer Olympics are planned to take place between 27 July
2012 and 12 August 2012. The London 2012 Olympic bid was announced as
the winner of the bidding process on 6 July 2005. The planning for the
Games is still ongoing, with many announcements and developments
taking place.

The Trafalgar square Christmas tree
The Trafalgar Square Christmas tree is the name
for the famous Christmas tree donated to the
people of London by the city of Oslo each year
since 1947.The tree is prominently displayed in
Trafalgar Square during the Christmas season. The
tree has provided a central focus for the Trafalgar
Square traditional carol-singing program,
performed by different groups raising money for
voluntary or charitable organizations . The tree
remains until just before the Twelfth Night of
Christmas. The Trafalgar Square Christmas tree is
typically a 50- to 60-year-old Norway spruce,
generally over 20 meters tall.
