Iceland
Beer remained illegal in Iceland until 1989.
In Iceland, if something is sold at a sale price for
six consecutive weeks, that discounted price
becomes the new regular price and it cannot be
advertised as the sale price any more.
The majority of Icelanders don’t have surnames.
A majority of Icelanders believe in elves, but
there are no forests.
Iceland is not a very cold country. The average
temperatures for January is -0.4°C.
Iceland has under 350,000
residents. The capital and
largest city is Reykjavík.
Iceland is volcanically and
geologically active. There are
geysers and hot springs.
Iceland does not have
army, navy or air force. If
an Icelander wants to
serve in the military, they
can join the Norwegian
army by an agreement
between the two
countries.
4. Are you a genius?
The measurement for being considered
a genius is normally associated with
MENSA. The Intelligence Quotient (IQ)
was invented in 1908 by Alfred Binet, a
French psychologist. The average
score was measured to be set at 100.
To qualify for membership you have to
get a score in the top 2%. To qualify as
a genius you have to score over 140.

UCAS Advice – The window for student finance is coming to a
close. The deadline is 27 May 2018. If you need advice come
and see us in the Sixth Form office.
UCAS Visit – There is a trip to the UCAS Fair at the NEC on
Monday 25 June 2018. Please tell your tutor if you wish to go.
