Power point presentation water cycle

  1. 1. What is a water cycle?
  2. 2.  The cycle of processes by which water circulates between the earth's oceans, atmosphere, and land, involving precipitation as rain and snow, drainage in streams and rivers, and return to the atmosphere by evaporation and transpiration.
  3. 3. Now that you know, what it is, what are the processes? I Know! I know!!!
  4. 4. The processes of the water cycle includes:  Evaporation  Condensation  Precipitation  Collection  Run Off
  5. 5. Evaporation: Evaporation is when the sun heats up water in rivers or lakes or the ocean and turns it into vapour or steam. The water vapour or steam leaves the river, lake or ocean and goes into the air.
  6. 6. Condensation: Condensation is when water vapour in the air gets cold and changes back into liquid, forming clouds.
  7. 7. Precipitation: Precipitation occurs when so much water has condensed that the air cannot hold it anymore. The clouds get heavy and water falls back to the earth in the form of rain, hail, sleet or snow.
  8. 8. Collection is: When water falls back to earth as precipitation, it may fall back in the oceans, lakes or rivers or it may end up on land .
  9. 9. Surface Runoff: Surface runoff is when the water falls on the surface of the earth and it runs back into the collection such as the oceans, rivers and lakes etc.
  10. 10. DIAGRAM of the WATER CYCLE
  11. 11. RECAP Now let’s watch a video from youtube about watercycle https://youtu.be/ncORPosDrjI
  12. 12. Guess what class? It’s now time for question & answer …. Let’s go….
  13. 13.  What is a water cycle?  Name one process of the water cycle?  What do we call the process when the sun heats up the water and it turns into vapour or steam?  Name 2 forms of water that comes from the heavy clouds?  List 2 places that water is collected when it runs off the surface of the earth The end!
  14. 14.  The cycle of processes by which water circulates between the earth's oceans, atmosphere, and land, involving precipitation as rain and snow, drainage in streams and rivers, and return to the atmosphere by evaporation and transpiration. Back to questions
  15. 15. The processes of the water cycle are:  Evaporation  Condensation  Precipitation  Collection  Run Off Back to questions
  16. 16. Evaporation Back to questions
  17. 17. Water falls back to the earth as :  Rain  Hail  Sleet  Snow Back to questions
  18. 18. Some places that water is collected when it runs off the land includes:  Ocean  Lake  river Next Slide
  19. 19. Great job guys!! Now you will be placed in two groups and will be given some materials to create a water cycle. Then you will display your water cycle to the class.
  20. 20. HAVE FUNNN!!!!!
