Course Description:
Psychology is the study of life. In this study we will define psychology as the science
of behavior and mental processes.
General Purpose:
The course aims at enabling participants to have a better understanding on people
thinking by thinking critically about careful controlled observation
Conditions to be able to sit the final exam are:
1. Do not miss over 3 classes during the whole course
2. Submit all the assignments. If you failed to submit any of the assignments you
will not be allowed to pass the course and won’t be allow to sit the final exam.
3. Assignment will not be marked if submit over 1 week late

2. Assessments
• Assignment 1 (15%): Short essay (1,000 words). Due 24th Dec. Is
psychology really a science? Can human behaviour and mental processes
actually be studied using scientific methods? Discuss and give reasons with
relevant references.
• Assignment 2 (20%): Thinking critically essay (1,500 words): Do you think
the roles that your mother and father played in society shaped their
psychological characteristics? Did they shape your psychological
characteristic?
• Presentation (10mins) and Report (1000 words) (35%): Observing and
influence human behaviour: TBA
• Final Exam (20%): TBA
• Class participation (10%): Class Attendance and participation during the
discussion. Students who often come to class late or do not respect the class
environment will be given lower marks or zero marks.
