Redwood Falls Parks & Recreation Mission Statement

The mission of the Redwood Falls Parks and Recreation Department is to provide quality facilities and
programs for all. Quality Parks and Recreation Programming enhances economic development, community
crime prevention, and adds to the quality of life for ALL residents and visitors of the community.
We would like to achieve a “community climate” of personal wellness, and mutual respect. Community
facilities and parks are used by citizens of all ages participating in meaningful recreation activities. Facilities are
well cared for due to a systematic plan for immediate care and crucial long-term maintenance. All citizens will
be welcomed and encouraged to utilize the park system and participate in the City Recreation programs.

Tobacco Free Policy

The City of Redwood Falls prohibits the use of tobacco products in all City buildings including the Redwood
Falls Aquatic Center, the Redwood Area Community Center and at City parks during youth-oriented events.

Fitness Assessment Packages:
• Marathon Package -

$100/Session Non-Members & $90/Session Members

The Marathon Package will include the following tests: Body Composition,
Strength, Flexibility, Height, Weight, and Cardiovascular. The package is
for 6-months, being assessed on Week 1, 6, 12, 18, and 24. Not only will
you be having the assessments every six weeks you will also receive a
meal plan and a workout plan. These plans will change every six-weeks!

• Half Marathon Package -

$70/Session Non-Members & $60/Session Members

The Half Marathon Package will include the following tests: Body Composition, Strength, Flexibility, Height,
Weight, and Cardiovascular. The package is for 3-months, being assessed on Week 1, 6, and 12. Not only
will you be having the assessments every six weeks, you will also receive a meal plan and a workout plan.
These plans will change every six-weeks!

• In-Training Package - $30/Session Non-Members & $25/Session Members

The In-Training Package will include the following tests: Body Composition, Strength, Flexibility, Height,
Weight, and Cardiovascular. This package includes assessments by the time. No workout plan or meal
plan is available with this plan.
Each assessment will take approximately 1-hour and must be scheduled in advance.
Any cancellations made less than 24 hours before the appointment will be charged a $20 fee.

PERSONAL TRAINER - POLLY BOWEN

POLLY BOWEN

Polly Bowen, RACC’s personal trainer, is available to help our members and
non-members reach their fitness goals, have a productive and time-efficient
workout, and feel comfortable working out in the Fitness Center. Polly will work
one-on-one with clients. Every session will be at the convenience of both client
and Polly. Polly has the proper credentials and is an avid exerciser. A session is
$20 per hour and you must go a minimum of two sessions. If you would like
more information regarding this, please call us at 644-2333.

Online Registration Upgrade

City of Redwood Falls Parks & Recreation Department - Online Registration System to be Upgraded Nov. 25.
The Parks & Recreation Department uses Maximum Solutions for our program online registration platform. Maximum
Solutions is launching an updated platform, and will upgrade the City of Redwood Falls Parks & Recreation
Department’s online registration features the week of Nov. 25. Park & Recreation members will see a new interface
and will need to once again create an account. We apologize in advance for any inconveninece this may cause.
The new platform will be more user friendly and provide additional options. Thank you for your understanding.

MEMBERSHIP INCLUDES:

Walking and running track, open gym, open ice
skating and fitness center. The membership rates
will reflect the collaborative spirit for which the
center was built. The Redwood Valley HS/MS
students and many other user groups will use the
building. There will be times that portions of the
center will be unavailable for use due to community events, tournaments, or a rental.

November 18 - March 13 (9:30-11:30 a.m.)
$1 fee per child (1:4 parent to child ratio - please)

Preschoolers (ages birth-6) and their adult supervisor
(parent, babysitter, etc.) are welcome to come and burn some of that winter build-up of energy at the
Redwood Area Community Center. This will be an open play time for kids ages Birth-6 that are accompanied by their adult supervisor. Pre-schoolers can bounce balls, run, jump, crawl on mats, and just
have fun in the fieldhouse.

YOUTH WRESTLING TOURNEY

The Redwood Valley Youth Wrestling Club will sponsor a youth wrestling tournament.
The tournament will be open to any boy or girl in pre-kindergarten through the 6th grade.

WRESTLING

The Redwood Valley Youth Wrestling Club wants you! Students 4 years old through 6th grade
are invited to participate. Wrestlers will learn basic wrestling techniques and skills, proper
conditioning, and will have the opportunity to compete against others of same size.
Participants will have the opportunity to attend area tournaments, as well as free admission
into our home tournament. Singlets available for a deposit with a partial refund at the end of
the season. Deposit should be made payable to Redwood Valley Youth Wrestling
Association. Wrestling shoes are recommended, but not required. The wrestling club is
always in need of parent help. If interested, please show up at practice in workout clothes
and proper shoes.

Youth Activities

CARDINAL CAGERS

Hello all of you basketball players and fans. Get ready to
“Rock the Field-house”! Once again this basketball
program will be offered to boys and girls in K through 4th
grade. Sessions will be similar to a camp situation, where
basic basketball skills and fundamentals are practiced the
first couple of weeks with inter-squad games to
follow. A t-shirt is included in the fee. Students may ride
Bus #5 from Reede Gray to the RACC.

Traveling Soccer

Traveling soccer is back to celebrate it’s 13th season
here in Redwood Falls. Soccer players compete at the
Rec-Plus Level through the Minnesota Youth Soccer
Ass’n. and play teams from the Southern Minnesota
Soccer Alliance. The program teaches basic soccer concepts and skills, develops self-confidence, and emphasizes fair play, healthy competition, and fun. Boys and
girls ages 7-16 and their parents are invited to attend the
meeting. Teams will play a minimum of 8 games and
attend a minimum of one tournament.

RAYBA is a youth baseball
organization that offers traveling
baseball to youth ages 7 (coach pitch)
through 13 years of age. Teams will
travel for league (if one is available)

FREE THROW
CONTEST

January 12th, 2014

The St. Catherine’s Knights of Columbus, in
conjunction with the Redwood Falls City
Recreation Department, is sponsoring a
FREE THROW CONTEST for boys and girls
ages 10-14 on Sunday, January 12th, 2014,
in the TLV Gymnasium. Registration is
from 12:00-12:30 p.m., with competition
beginning at 12:45 p.m. Competition is free
of charge to all participants.
Enter by using the Fieldhouse doors.

INDOOR

Golfing/Batting Cage

No more hitting foam golf balls into a net
or taking soft toss with a whiffle ball. Try
out the Indoor Golfing/Batting Cage. The
cage is a 70' long x 14' high x 12' double
wide cage that can be used for live batting
for baseball and softball players as well as
live hitting for golfers. Participants are
asked to bring their own golf clubs and
balls as well as bats, balls, and helmets for
live hitting. The cage can be used by 2 separate groups at one time as it is a double
cage. It is located on the south side of
Fieldhouse Court #3. Call ahead and
reserve the court today!

Get ready for some fun as you learn dance skills, combinations and a
routine to perform at the February 7 RVHS Boys and Girls Basketball
Douible-Header halftimes! Students of all levels can participate. Check
the RACC website for any updated information of the week of Feb. 3.
Instructor: Ramona Larson

Costume: Participants will wear the 2013 Summer Dance Camp top with black shorts
or black/pink zebra shorts AND silver pom poms. Those who participated in the
Summer Dance Camps already have this costume. Those who did not participate will
need to bring $19 to Ramona Larson the first day of Dance Camp for the top and silver
pom poms. Provide your own black shorts.

Adult open hockey is a time for adult hockey
players (8th grade and older) to participate in
pick-up games and scrimmages - it is NOT a
league. The program has already started and
will continue through mid-March. All participants MUST check in at the front desk each
night they participate.

This is a basic orientation of the fitness center for men and women 55 & older. We will
demonstrate the proper use of the equipment
in the weight room, as well as explore new
activities. No experience necessary.

The package is for 6-months, being assessed on Week 1, 6, 12, 18, and 24. Not only will you be having the assessments every six weeks you will also receive a meal plan and a workout plan. These plans will change every six-weeks! • Half Marathon Package - $70/Session Non-Members & $60/Session Members The Half Marathon Package will include the following tests: Body Composition, Strength, Flexibility, Height, Weight, and Cardiovascular. The package is for 3-months, being assessed on Week 1, 6, and 12. Not only will you be having the assessments every six weeks, you will also receive a meal plan and a workout plan. These plans will change every six-weeks! • In-Training Package - $30/Session Non-Members & $25/Session Members The In-Training Package will include the following tests: Body Composition, Strength, Flexibility, Height, Weight, and Cardiovascular. This package includes assessments by the time. No workout plan or meal plan is available with this plan. Each assessment will take approximately 1-hour and must be scheduled in advance. Any cancellations made less than 24 hours before the appointment will be charged a $20 fee. PERSONAL TRAINER - POLLY BOWEN POLLY BOWEN Polly Bowen, RACC’s personal trainer, is available to help our members and non-members reach their fitness goals, have a productive and time-efficient workout, and feel comfortable working out in the Fitness Center. Polly will work one-on-one with clients. Every session will be at the convenience of both client and Polly. Polly has the proper credentials and is an avid exerciser. A session is $20 per hour and you must go a minimum of two sessions. If you would like more information regarding this, please call us at 644-2333. The Parks & Recreation Department uses Maximum Solutions for our program online registration platform. Maximum Solutions is launching an updated platform, and will upgrade the City of Redwood Falls Parks & Recreation Department’s online registration features the week of Nov. 25. Youth Activities Weather Hotline: 507-644-2335 LITTLE CRITTER’S CLUB MONDAYS & THURSDAYS November 18 - March 13 (9:30-11:30 a.m.) $1 fee per child (1:4 parent to child ratio - please) Preschoolers (ages birth-6) and their adult supervisor (parent, babysitter, etc.) are welcome to come and burn some of that winter build-up of energy at the Redwood Area Community Center. This will be an open play time for kids ages Birth-6 that are accompanied by their adult supervisor. Pre-schoolers can bounce balls, run, jump, crawl on mats, and just have fun in the fieldhouse. REDWOOD VALLEY YOUTH WRESTLING TOURNEY The Redwood Valley Youth Wrestling Club will sponsor a youth wrestling tournament. The tournament will be open to any boy or girl in pre-kindergarten through the 6th grade. Soccer players compete at the Rec-Plus Level through the Minnesota Youth Soccer Ass’n. and play teams from the Southern Minnesota Soccer Alliance. The program teaches basic soccer concepts and skills, develops self-confidence, and emphasizes fair play, healthy competition, and fun. Boys and girls ages 7-16 and their parents are invited to attend the meeting. Teams will play a minimum of 8 games and attend a minimum of one tournament. Teams will travel for league (if one is available) as well as tournament play. Any questions, visit our website at: www.redwoodfallsbaseball.com FREE THROW CONTEST January 12th, 2014 The St. Catherine’s Knights of Columbus, in conjunction with the Redwood Falls City Recreation Department, is sponsoring a FREE THROW CONTEST for boys and girls ages 10-14 on Sunday, January 12th, 2014, in the TLV Gymnasium. Registration is from 12:00-12:30 p.m., with competition beginning at 12:45 p.m. Competition is free of charge to all participants. Enter by using the Fieldhouse doors. INDOOR Golfing/Batting Cage No more hitting foam golf balls into a net or taking soft toss with a whiffle ball. Try out the Indoor Golfing/Batting Cage. The cage is a 70' long x 14' high x 12' double wide cage that can be used for live batting for baseball and softball players as well as live hitting for golfers. Participants are asked to bring their own golf clubs and balls as well as bats, balls, and helmets for live hitting. The cage can be used by 2 separate groups at one time as it is a double cage. FEE: $20 8th -12th graders will be put into a match play format league where they will get a chance to play individuals or doubles tennis. Adult Associations & Activities Adult Activities Redwood Falls Softball Association The Redwood Falls Softball Association will be holding its annual meeting at the Redwood Area Community Center on: April 3, 2014 6:30 p.m. Anyone interested in playing, sponsoring, or managing a team is encouraged to attend. Leagues consists of church, men’s, women’s, and co-rec softball. Important items for the upcoming season will be discussed.
