- 32. Important Password Info. Effective December 2nd, 2006, Outlook passwords will need to be a minimum of 6 characters in length and need to be complex in nature. Complex passwords must contain at least one upper case and one lower case “Alpha” character and at least one “Numeric” character. (Special characters such as #, @, or & can be used for extra security but are not required at this time) It is also important to note that the system will not allow you to generate a password that includes your username.
