- Living in 5 countries, Denmark, Swizz, Holland, Norway and Lithuania I have been lucking to get my learning in one of the bigger transport countries in the world, small Denmark. A country also lying in one of the smaller transport corridors in the world, a topic I will mention more about a little later Worked in 7 countries also Russia and Romania Not living but working both for 1 year on dedicate project, I have the luck also to work in these two countries, which each in have an impact on the logistics in their part of the world Romania, biggest supplier of drivers for EU Russia, the country in the world with the longest railway track I have Worked +35 years in the logistic industry Not only have I worked I have also been fortuned to work with most countries around the world, where countries differs with their approach based on possibilities to logistics, impacted by history and culture EVEN More – I got the opportunity to work with all transport modes/type have also been one of my duties. Worked within all kind of logistics Air Road Rail Sea Intermodal Last mile My background is Road, which I learned in what today is DB Schenker and later in LT came back to the ROAD, starting DSV Road in East Europe in 1993 In CH back in 1983 I learned about the multimodal at very early stage, which today is growing fast in China and EU In Holland to which I moved in 1984 I was lucky to work in Rotterdam which some of you might know is the biggest container port in Europe. In Norway, the stage chances a little, here I got my learning about new cultures working with quite some state transport companies in former East Europe Back in Denmark, I got the opportunity to learn about, - Niche transport – furniture, delivering to shops all over Norway. My history brought me to LT, when a company specialized in East Europe, was asked by the Danish foreign ministry to join on a trip to LT. In LT, the connection the world became next learning In Hoptrans got deep involved into Air from Middle east to LT and further to RUS, later from China to Lithuania and further to EU Railway To KAZ, from China and to/from Italy Today I spent most om my time in one of the leading Lithuania logistic companies Hoptrans, which focus on Infrastructure logistics As we call it. Where the main focus is Connecting the world and in this case especially China with North Europe Hoptrans road or history, brought us into the last big development in new time – e-commerce or omni channel, loved kids have many names. In the start up years ago, Hoptrans was among the first developing e-commerce logistics to Russia. Connectivity and Integration, have always been a part of the logistics world. There are few persons which earlier really knew a lot about how is the international trade. Logistics guy, they follow the move of products every day. Changes and development are most often done by rebellions, who want to develop something new. But from the overall holistic point of view, this is the creation of something new in logistics. This is a new concept, an entire new market. Volumes will be more than sufficient to support all the stakeholders, and instead of competition this will create even stronger ties, since all projects will become interconnected. - The countries of Europe and Asia are increasingly integrating together economically, logistically and politically via China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the various other endeavors of the broader New Silk Road, opening the gateway for a paradigm-shifting renaissance of technological innovation across the region. Trans-Eurasian transportation networks are being unified and streamlined, IT infrastructures are being upgraded and fused together, energy capacity is being boosted manyfold, and new types of problems are creating the opportunity for new types of technological solutions. Jonathan Hillman of the Center for Strategic International Studies (CSIS) in Washington D.C. posits that Asia has become a laboratory of new transportation ideas, and this is immediately evident when looking at the technologies that are emerging along its new array of trans-Eurasian trade corridors. “Just as the compass and the domesticated camel facilitated greater mobility in ancient times, all these innovations have the potential to reshape today’s economic landscape,” Hillman proclaimed. Over the past five years, an entire 40+ line network of direct cargo trains between China and Europe has emerged, and while the innovativeness of this system is mainly found in the realms of politics and customs protocols rather than technology, this system has inspired a reimagining of the future of rail transport.
