Day camps provide supervised activities and fun for children during the summer break from school. They typically run from June to early September and offer a variety of arts, crafts, outdoor play and special theme days to keep kids engaged and entertained over the summer. Enrolling children in day camps gives them social interaction with other kids and a full schedule of enrichment activities rather than having them feel like they are in the same routine as the school year.
2. First of all, remember that
a DAY camp is different
from an OVERNIGHT camp.
If you are considering a day
program for your kids,
these “camps” are usually
in session from June until
Labor Day (depending on
your region’s school year).
3. Also, consider signing a
child up for a day camp
versus regular child care
since a typical child care
center does not always
have those special
activities kids want to
enjoy in the summer.
After all, we don’t want children to feel like they
are in the same routine they have all school-year
long. This is a special time for kids!
5. Kids should be given
ample outdoor play
time.
Summer programs are
a great place for kids
to meet others in their
age groups.
6. This can be a great comfort
for some children,
especially the younger
ones, some of whom may
not have had any prior pre-
school or kindergarten
experience away from the
house.

7. Will they be able to
enjoy a variety of arts
& crafts?
Will there be “theme
days” or weeks?
8. One of the things kids look
forward to most during the
summer months is going to
theme or water parks &
other special events.
It will be great if your day
camp offers these type of
activities.

in secure & structured
