BritWeek is a non-profit organization that hosts a series of events in Los Angeles every spring focused on creativity and innovation between Britain and California. The events attract thousands of attendees including celebrities, business leaders, and politicians. BritWeek has raised over $1.5 million for charities. BritWeek’s mission is to create greater awareness of the many ways in which Britain and
California work closely together, and further build this relationship to advance business,
the arts and philanthropy in both of these thriving regions of the world.
BritWeek is a program of events and activities held every spring focused on creativity
and innovation. The events attract support from thousands of people including
international celebrities as well as business and political leaders.
BritWeek's philanthropic and educational programs have raised more than $1.5 million
dollars towards meaningful causes including prevention of malaria, children's literacy
and international professional internships.

BritWeek’s exciting red carpet launch party kicks off the BritWeek program and attracts a

7. BritWeek Gala Charity Dinner
SIGNATURE EVENT
BritWeek’s annual gala charity dinner is a formal but lively event attended by 500 leaders in
business, culture, politics, and media, as well as influential British talent.
This event also has a star-studded red carpet and receives significant press coverage. In 2012, we
received 1 million media impressions.
BritWeek supports a different charity every year. Our 2013 charity and honoree will be
announced soon.

BritWeek’s annual innovation awards competition and dinner is held in conjunction with UK
Trade and Investment and offers the opportunity to discover and recognize the most innovative

An audience of over 200 investors, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and press gathers at the

9. BritWeek Film & Television Summit

BritWeek’s Film & Television Summit is a major entertainment industry conference
presented by Variety in partnership with BAFTA LA.
At this important event, 250 entertainment industry thought leaders and figureheads
gather. For example, 2012 featured keynote speaker Graham King producer of
‘Hugo’ ‘In The Land Of Blood and Honey’ and most recently ‘Dark Shadows’ plus
panels of industry leaders from both California and the UK. Previous keynotes include Sir
Ben Kingsley, Ian McShane and Helen Mirren. Previous panelists include Jane
Tranter (Head of BBC WorldWide Production) Paul Abbott (Creator and Executive

10. Christopher Guy BritWeek Design Awards
SIGNATURE EVENT
Now in its 3rd year, the Christopher Guy BritWeek Design Award celebrates British
design while supporting the work of young California design students
The award ceremony and cocktail party is attended by 250 VIPs, high net worth
individuals, press, and prominent design professionals from across California, including
leaders in fashion, architecture, interior design, and more
In 2012, students designed a piece of furniture with Christopher Guy elements, but based
on the creations of famed British milliner Philip Treacy. The submissions were judged
by Christopher Guy Harrison, Philip Treacy, and Martyn Lawrence Bullard, with the
first prize winner receiving a one month internship at Christopher HQ in Singapore.
2013 will introduce even more new, creative elements.
11. New Events for 2013 – Santa Monica
Santa Monica & BritWeek on the Third Street Promenade: Downtown Santa Monica and
BritWeek will host an exciting two day public event on May 4th and 5th on the Third Street
Promenade. This lively festival will engage Santa Monica residents (which has the largest
British population in the area), surrounding community, and visitors.
With an overarching flower theme, the event will allow for booths along the pedestrian-only
promenade to engage with the community through education, competitions, demonstrations,
and more.
This event offers a fantastic opportunity to engage your brand with thousands of people that
live in or are visiting this popular LA destination, including a huge expatriate community.
12. New Events for 2013 – Architecture
BritWeek is delighted to announce that this year it will add a substantial architecture program to
engage with the design community, including architects, interior designers, style leaders, and
more.
As part of this program, Stephen Gee will release his book on British-born architect John
Parkinson as part of BritWeek 2013. John Parkinson was instrumental in building much of
Downtown LA in the early 1900s, including Bullocks Wilshire, City Hall, Union Station, and
more. Stephen’s book is the first published book on Parkinson’s work, and will be part of a
larger, exciting focus on the influence of the UK on LA architecture and design.
This program will be an exciting addition to the BritWeek calendar, and represents a fantastic
opportunity for British brands to gain exposure to the Los Angeles design community.
13. New Events for 2013 – UK Music Festival
BritWeek is delighted to announce that for 2013, we have partnered with Spaceland
Presents to produce a UK Music Festival.
Spaceland Presents has long been known as an innovative concert production company.
Founded in 1993 by promoter Mitchell Frank, Spaceland Presents hosted earliest L.A.
performances by Beck, FooFighters, Arcade Fire, Elliott Smith, White Stripes, Black
Keys, Artic Monkeys, and Weezer, among many others.
The BritWeek Music Festival will feature established and up-and-coming musical artists
concentrated on Saturday, April 27th with possible extensions to Friday and/or Sunday. It
will be held at one of Spaceland’s own venues, ranging from 700 to 7,000 in capacity.
This will be a truly creative experience, engaging the LA art & culture community with the
latest UK talent. Substantial pre-event marketing, social media outreach, and unique
sponsor presence on the day of the event, provides a unique platform for brand
engagement to thousands of art, music, and cultural tastemakers.

Every year, BritWeek has a dynamic and diverse program of art, fashion, retail, music, sports,
and more. For example, we’ve hosted brand launches, film screenings, retail activities, book

For example, 2012 saw the launch of the BritWeek Art Competition & Art Battle. Well over 100
entries were displayed in the Farmers&Merchants Bank Downtown. The competition was judged
both by the public, on Facebook, and by special guest judges from the Los Angeles Art
Association. The winning pieces were flow to London to be showcased during the Olympics.
The Art Battle saw 2 London based street artists from the UK , Eine & Inkie, compete against their
Los Angles counterparts, Mear One & Man One, creating street art on Jaguar car hoods and
luxury Christopher Guy furniture.
The BritWeek Art Battle was filmed for KCET ‘Opencall’ and aired on August 31st, 2012
We will be having another substantial art program in 2013.
