The document summarizes the author's process of recreating a portrait photograph in Photoshop. They took a photo of themselves, imported it, and used filters to match the original portrait. While the recreation captured the essence, weaknesses included a different background and shot type than the original. The author learned they should have retaken the photo to better match the original portrait's close-up shot type and background.
1. Portrait evaluation
My recreation was a swift process and didn’t take too long to make. First of all
I had to take my picture. After that I imported it into Photoshop and sorted
through the filter gallery, which did not take that long
just heading to filter, then filter gallery. I made the
picture look like the original portrait, then after doing
that I made some colour adjustments and light and
contrast.
The weaknesses of the portrait is that the photo looks nothing like my
recreation as in it’s a totally different shot type and the background is in a
random place not really relevant to the original photo.
As you can see there are lots of different
filters in the filter gallery
The one on the left is an original image and
the one on the right is the photo after its
been through the filter gallery
2. The shot type I was aiming for was a close up but ended up with a medium
shot if I realised at the time I would have retaken the photo. We also used a
tripod to get a clear steady shot. I think that a more colourful image would be
harder to recreate because you have to bear in mind that u need all the correct
colours in the correct places to make it look authentic to the original.
If did my photo again I would make it so the background suited the original
portrait more, to do this I would pick a better location to take my photo and I
would also make it so the person who took the photo of me took the correct
shot type (close up). But overall I think that my recreation of the original
portrait was satisfactory for my first attempt of a portrait recreation.
