 Marketing Brochure to sell yourself, used for job hunting.
 Provides opportunity to showcase strengths.
 To display the results of past work experiences and accomplishments.
 To get a interview!

How solid is your Resume?
 Is your resume free from grammatical errors, does your resume reflect the
position you are applying for?
 Your resume is YOUR first impression, but it does not guarantee the job.
 May prevent your from getting your dream job if not executed correctly.
 Recruiters typical spend between 10-30 seconds to review a resume.
 A typical job opening generally generates 50-300 resumes WOW!
Format of Resume
 Always format your resume to highlight your skills and accomplishments.
 The font size should be 11 or 12, never use a font size of 10 or smaller
 Times New Roman provides the most charters per square inch.
 Try to keep your resume to 1 page however 2 page resumes are common and
acceptable. *Be sure your second page signifies your career goals.
Relevant Content
 A short objective statement could be helpful if you are a entry-level
candidate.
 You will need several versions of your resume when applying to different
types of positions.
 If transitioning into a new field be sure to include a objective.
 Also if your education is your strongest qualification, list it before your
experience.
 include your GPA or NOT???????????
Experience
 Use bulleted format to start each bullet with an action verb. Ex. Of action
words: administered, delegated, developed, hired, increased.
 Insure that you exhibit your contributions, in a way to display what you have
done and the results from your contributions.
 Use percentage and dollar amounts
 Give all skills and accomplishments that may be relevant to the position.
 Always send a cover letter
 Request a resume review/critique
Advice to our audience.
 Proof read your resume several times to ensure it is error proof.
 Avoid fancy paper and fonts
 Avoid graphics and photos
 Avoid slang in resume
 Multiple colors
 Try to be the first person that submits a resume
 Become more involved with professional associations, networking is the best
strategy to secure your dream career.

  • 6. Why do we need a Resume?  Marketing Brochure to sell yourself, used for job hunting.  Provides opportunity to showcase strengths.  To display the results of past work experiences and accomplishments.  To get a interview!  *Please note: A resume is not a professional autobiography

How solid is your Resume?  Is your resume free from grammatical errors, does your resume reflect the position you are applying for?  Your resume is YOUR first impression, but it does not guarantee the job.  May prevent your from getting your dream job if not executed correctly.  Recruiters typical spend between 10-30 seconds to review a resume.  A typical job opening generally generates 50-300 resumes WOW!

Format of Resume  Always format your resume to highlight your skills and accomplishments.  The font size should be 11 or 12, never use a font size of 10 or smaller  Times New Roman provides the most charters per square inch.  Try to keep your resume to 1 page however 2 page resumes are common and acceptable. *Be sure your second page signifies your career goals.

Relevant Content  A short objective statement could be helpful if you are a entry-level candidate.  You will need several versions of your resume when applying to different types of positions.  If transitioning into a new field be sure to include a objective.  Also if your education is your strongest qualification, list it before your experience.  include your GPA or NOT???????????
  • 11. Experience  Use bulleted format to start each bullet with an action verb. Ex. Of action words: administered, delegated, developed, hired, increased.  Insure that you exhibit your contributions, in a way to display what you have done and the results from your contributions.  Use percentage and dollar amounts  Give all skills and accomplishments that may be relevant to the position.  Always send a cover letter  Request a resume review/critique

Advice to our audience.  Proof read your resume several times to ensure it is error proof.  Avoid fancy paper and fonts  Avoid graphics and photos  Avoid slang in resume  Multiple colors  Try to be the first person that submits a resume  Become more involved with professional associations, networking is the best strategy to secure your dream career.
