Ever After High is a boarding school for teenagers whose parents are fairy tale favorites like Snow White, Rapunzel, Alice in Wonderland, etc. If your daughter or granddaughters are like mine, they're fascinated by the books and web adventures of these new fairy tale princes and princesses, and looking forward to collecting their favorite characters. There are 2 groups: Royals, which are characters who are happy to accept their parents' destinies, whether that's living happily ever after or sleeping for 100 years. On the other side of the coin, we have the Rebels, who are determined to make their own destinies even if, as Ever After High Headmaster Grimm believes, it means that they will destroy their stories and ultimately themselves. Rebel Number 1 is Raven Queen, who understandably doesn't want to be bad like her mother the Evil Queen. Then there's Darling Charming, a princess who sees herself as the heroine of her story, not just a damsel in distress always waiting to be rescued. And Ginger Breadhouse, who wants to make delicious desserts and host her own cooking show in spite of being the daughter of the child-eating Witch from Hansel and Gretel. Other Rebels include Cerise Hood, daughter of Red Riding Hood and Mr. Badwolf himself, the Mad Hatter's daughter Madeline Hatter, the Cheshire Cat's daughter Kitty Cheshire, and life-sized puppet Cedar Wood, whose father is of course Pinocchio. Finally we have C.A. Cupid who is the adopted daughter of Eros, and Poppy O'Hair, daughter of Rapunzel and older twin sister to Royal Holly O'Hair. And last but not least, the only Rebel prince, Hunter Huntsman, the son of the Huntsman from both the Little Red Riding Hood and Snow White stories. Honestly most of my granddaughters' requests are for the Rebel characters instead of Royals because they feel most of the Rebel dolls look more 'cool' instead of just 'pretty', and because they can imagine better stories with them. The way my granddaughter Jessie said it, everyone knows how the Snow White fairy tale turns out in the original version and it gets boring if you have to always play it that way with Royal Apple White, too. It's more fun to make believe if you can change the stories any way you want like the Rebels do. Besides the Royals and Rebels, there are some other supporting characters that you might come across as part of the Ever After High stories. Most of these aren't assigned as Royals or Rebels yet, though that may happen when their characters are more developed. These include narrator Brooke Page, Daring Charming (another of King Charming's children, brother to Royal Dexter and Reble Darling, Humpty Dumpty's son Humphrey Dumpty, and the Frog Prince's son Hopper Croakington II. Rounding out the supporting cast are the Pied Piper's daughter Melody Piper, Robin Hood's son Sparrow Hood, and Hansel & Gretel's children Gus and Helga Crumb. http://expressmobiledesign.com/rebels-rule
