This training course runs for 4
weeks, and includes both
asynchronous and synchronous
requirements. All assessments
must be successfully completed to
receive credit and be assigned a
course. If you have any issues
accessing the course, please
contact your instructor.
Purpose
Introduction to Fortis College Online
These Presentations are intended to expose you to online policies, procedures and
initiatives specific to Fortis College Online, where our weekly live sessions will focus more
on the role of the instructor. The review of these PPTs and completion of the weekly
quizzes are required for ALL FOUR WEEKS to be assigned a course.
As you go through these presentations, please be sure to read through the comment
boxes as they will contain explanations for the information found on the slides.

Instructor Status
Faculty Candidates
Faculty Candidates are invited to join the faculty on active status after successful
completion of the following:
1 – NFT101 Instructor Training
2 – 42-Day(70-Day = Hybrid) Instructor Evaluation while teaching their first course
3 – Mentorship Program while teaching their second course
Instructor Status
Faculty Active Status
Once new faculty members are on active status, they are eligible to teach more
than one course at any given time based upon instructor performance and course
availability. As a general rule, faculty members remain on active status as long as
expectations are met for the following:
1 – teach at least one course within a period of six (6) consecutive months
2 – complete all mandatory trainings on time
3 – maintain an up-to-date and accurate digital faculty file
4 – fulfill roles and responsibilities as set forth in the Fortis Faculty Handbook &
Online Addendum.
Instructor Status
Faculty Termination
Faculty members on active or inactive status may be terminated if expectations are
NOT met for the following:
1 – teach at least one course within twelve (12) months of the start date of their last
course
2 – complete mandatory trainings within 30 days of the original deadline
3 – maintain an up-to-date and accurate faculty personnel file within 30 days of the
original deadline
4 – fulfill roles and responsibilities as set forth in the Fortis Faculty Handbook &
Online Addendum.

Professional Development & In-Service
Professional Development Requirements
• All faculty are required to complete a minimum of four (4) clock hours of
verifiable Professional Development activity each calendar year.
• Professional Development activities can include, but are not limited to,
professional seminars, CEUs, advanced degrees in discipline, presentations to
professional organizations within the discipline, online webinars, etc.
• Professional Development refers to development within the discipline for
which you have been hired to teach!
• You must provide documentation of your participation in these Professional
Development activities to your Program Associate Dean no later than
December 31st each year.
In-Service Requirements
• All faculty are required to complete a minimum of four (4) clock hours of
verifiable In-Service activity each calendar year.
• In-Service activities can include, but are not limited to, participation in Virtual
Training Academy (VTA) courses offered in-house, required trainings offered
by Fortis throughout the year, optional trainings offered by Fortis, in-person
teaching conferences (ex: FAPSC), online webinars, etc.
• In-Service refers to development within the field of teaching/instruction (aka
pedagogy), and can be either online or residential in nature, so long as those
skills are transferable to your role as an online or hybrid instructor here.
• You must provide documentation of your participation in these In-Service
activities to your Program Associate Dean no later than December 31st each
year.

Quarterly Faculty Meetings
Quarterly Faculty Meeting Requirements
• All Fortis Online and Hybrid faculty are required to participate in quarterly
online meetings, held four times throughout the calendar year.
• Prior to each meeting, you will receive an invitation from the Education
Department that will include all login information you will need to participate.
• During these meetings, vital information will be shared so it is important for
all faculty to be present. However, if you are unable to participate due to
emergency, please contact your Program Associate Dean so arrangements can
be made for you to participate in a “make-up” meeting session.
• Occasionally, these meetings will also include a training component, which
will also satisfy your In-Service requirements.

of the 4th week of NFT101 to be

  • 2. Welcome to NFT101! This training course runs for 4 weeks, and includes both asynchronous and synchronous requirements. All assessments must be successfully completed to receive credit and be assigned a course. If you have any issues accessing the course, please contact your instructor.
  • 3. Purpose Introduction to Fortis College Online These Presentations are intended to expose you to online policies, procedures and initiatives specific to Fortis College Online, where our weekly live sessions will focus more on the role of the instructor. The review of these PPTs and completion of the weekly quizzes are required for ALL FOUR WEEKS to be assigned a course. Instructor Status Faculty Candidates Faculty Candidates are invited to join the faculty on active status after successful completion of the following: 1 – NFT101 Instructor Training 2 – 42-Day(70-Day = Hybrid) Instructor Evaluation while teaching their first course 3 – Mentorship Program while teaching their second course
  • 23. Instructor Status Faculty Active Status Once new faculty members are on active status, they are eligible to teach more than one course at any given time based upon instructor performance and course availability. As a general rule, faculty members remain on active status as long as expectations are met for the following: 1 – teach at least one course within a period of six (6) consecutive months 2 – complete all mandatory trainings on time 3 – maintain an up-to-date and accurate digital faculty file 4 – fulfill roles and responsibilities as set forth in the Fortis Faculty Handbook & Online Addendum.
  • 24. Instructor Status Faculty Termination Faculty members on active or inactive status may be terminated if expectations are NOT met for the following: 1 – teach at least one course within twelve (12) months of the start date of their last course 2 – complete mandatory trainings within 30 days of the original deadline 3 – maintain an up-to-date and accurate faculty personnel file within 30 days of the original deadline 4 – fulfill roles and responsibilities as set forth in the Fortis Faculty Handbook & Online Addendum.
  • 26. Professional Development Requirements • All faculty are required to complete a minimum of four (4) clock hours of verifiable Professional Development activity each calendar year. • Professional Development activities can include, but are not limited to, professional seminars, CEUs, advanced degrees in discipline, presentations to professional organizations within the discipline, online webinars, etc. • Professional Development refers to development within the discipline for which you have been hired to teach! • You must provide documentation of your participation in these Professional Development activities to your Program Associate Dean no later than December 31st each year.
  • 27. In-Service Requirements • All faculty are required to complete a minimum of four (4) clock hours of verifiable In-Service activity each calendar year. • In-Service activities can include, but are not limited to, participation in Virtual Training Academy (VTA) courses offered in-house, required trainings offered by Fortis throughout the year, optional trainings offered by Fortis, in-person teaching conferences (ex: FAPSC), online webinars, etc. • In-Service refers to development within the field of teaching/instruction (aka pedagogy), and can be either online or residential in nature, so long as those skills are transferable to your role as an online or hybrid instructor here. • You must provide documentation of your participation in these In-Service activities to your Program Associate Dean no later than December 31st each year.
  • 29. Quarterly Faculty Meeting Requirements • All Fortis Online and Hybrid faculty are required to participate in quarterly online meetings, held four times throughout the calendar year. • Prior to each meeting, you will receive an invitation from the Education Department that will include all login information you will need to participate. • During these meetings, vital information will be shared so it is important for all faculty to be present. However, if you are unable to participate due to emergency, please contact your Program Associate Dean so arrangements can be made for you to participate in a “make-up” meeting session. • Occasionally, these meetings will also include a training component, which will also satisfy your In-Service requirements.
  • 30. New Instructor Roadmap Items to Complete: Primary Contact:  HR Employment Paperwork (Florida CIE; DPOS; Ohio; IRS; etc.) Program Associate Dean  Faculty Personnel File Paperwork (Development Plan; Employment Verification; Resume; etc.) Program Associate Dean  Official Transcripts ordered w/ Fortis as mail recipient Program Associate Dean  NFT101 Training Course NFT101 Instructor  Initial Course Set-Up (Announcement; Course Review; etc.)

Please be sure that the following hiring paperwork is in the completion process:  Colorado Form  CIE Form  Ohio Form  I-9 Form with copies of ID  Unofficial Transcripts( Official transcripts are ordered) All paperwork must be completed and submitted no later than the end of the 4th week of NFT101 to be assigned a course.
