STRATEGIES ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]
1.- TRAININGS EMOTIONAL HEALTH: MOTIVATE THE FAMILIES TO HAVE BETTER SELF ESTEEM, BOTH INDIVIDUALLY AND AS A FAMILY. ENCOURAGE BELIEF IN THEMSELVES. THIS IS IMPORTANT CONSIDERING THE CIRCUMSTANCES UNDER WHICH THEY LIVE.
“ FAMILY LIFE PLAN” COMPONENT ENCOURAGE FAMILIES TO DEVELOP A LONG TERM FAMILY LIFE PLAN AND CREATE A CONCRETE DREAM THEY CAN WORK TOWARDS. THE CHILDREN ALSO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROCESS AS FULL MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY.
RESOURCE ADMINISTRATION COMPONENT: ENCOURAGE FAMILIES TO EFFICIENTLY USE FINANCIAL REOURCES AND NOT RELY ON FAMILY OR COMMUNITY FINANCERS. FAMILIES ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE ARE MANY DIVERSE RESOURCES IN THE COMMUNITY AND THAT POOR RESOURCE MANAGEMENT DRAINS THE ENERGY OF THE FAMILY AND DEMOTIVATES THEM
ECONOMIC MANAGMENT COMPONENT : ECONOMIC LIFE PLAN TRAINS FAMILIES IN BASIC SKILLS NEEDED TO RUN A SMALL BUSINESS TO GENERATE OR INCREASE THEIR OWN FAMILY INCOME
2.- PERSONAL ACCOMPANIMENT FAMILIES ARE VISITED IN THEIR HOMES TO ENCOURAGE THE APPLICATION OF WHAT THEY HAVE LEARNED AND TO UNDERSTAND THEIR REALITY. FOR AGAPE, THIS STRATEGY HAS BEEN CENTRAL TO UNDERSTANDING THE REASONS FOR FAMILIES’ LIMITATIONS AND POVERTY AS WELL AS THE EMOTIONAL AND FINANCIAL NEEDS THAT NEED TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE PROJECT.

5.- MICROFINANCE WE GAVE SMALL LOANS OF 200 SOLES (ABOUT US $70) TO FAMILIES THAT HAD SOME TYPE OF BUSINESS EXPERIENCE THAT CURRENTLY DID NOT HAVE ACCESS TO FORMAL CREDIT. AGAPE ADVISED THE FAMILIES IN THE HANDLING OF THEIR CREDIT. THE NEXT STEP WOULD BE ACCESS TO A FINANCIAL INSTITUTION
6.HUMANITARIAN SUPPORT THERE WERE COMPLEMENTARY DONATIONS GIVEN IN KIND TO 5 FAMILIES AT A TIME WITH SPECIAL NEEDS THAT WARRANTED URGENT AND EFFECTIVE HELP.
TESTIMONY OF DOMINGA JARAMILLO CRUZ
BEFORE AFTER Dominga is a widow with 3 children with whom she lives with in one small room. “ When I began to sell popcorn I had to walk all day, which hurt my back. I began to sell food, but there was competition and it didn’t go well. I bought an old salchipapa cart from a woman to try it out. In the Agape talks I learned that I had the ability to do many things. This made me feel so good. I also learned how I could improve my business and how to save. With the help of Agape I fixed and painted my cart and began to sell fried chicken and “salchipapa” on the corner by my house and it went well. Now my daughter has rented a juice machine and she is helping me. I am so grateful.”
TESTIMONY OF EDITH ESPIRITU LLATA “ Since my husband left me for another, I have had many problems. I didn’t know how I was going TO make it with my children and I felt hopeless. I began to wash clothes in other peoples houses, and with this I only earned enough to buy lunch. The talks helped me a lot, I realized that I wasn’t treating my children well, and that they were being hurt. They trained me in hand crafts, I learned to make handbags and ornaments. At first they helped me with the materials, but now after selling I am able to save my money and buy my materials.”
