Collecting and interpreting data to inform product decision making, requires you do so objectively without being influenced by your own emotions and biases. Researches have to be aware of their internal drivers in order to neutralize them. During this talk I will share a use case where our research and product team were so overconfident and opinionated in a specific area, we were not open to interpret and appropriately consider the vital information collected from the internal customer support team. The result - the commencement of a project which succeeded in achieving the defined success metrics but completely missed the mark in solving the challenges the internal team originally reported. During this session I will focus on specific biases to look out for and will share practical strategies to avoid them. Some of the strategies I will share: Research “mindfulness” - practicing self awareness so you are able to identify your internal drivers: regular self check ins before and during projects, writing down your preconceptions and beliefs as well as doing this practice as a team. Practicing humility by experiencing being wrong: the A/B test game show where the team “Bets” which A/B test variant will win Extending your access to varying points of views by including cross team participants in research think tanks and planning sessions.

The CSU-Global Library is a good place to find credible sources. Please use test results below for assignment response. Pick the results from the test results that have the lowest scores for areas of improvement. Score: 65 Score Comment 18-42 Your decision-making hasn't fully matured. You aren't objective enough, and you rely too much on luck, instinct or timing to make reliable decisions. Start to improve your decision-making skills by focusing more on the process that leads to the decision, rather than on the decision itself. With a solid process, you can face any decision with confidence. We'll show you how. (Read below to start.) 43-66 Your decision-making process is OK. You have a good understanding of the basics, but now you need to improve your process and be more proactive. Concentrate on finding lots of options and discovering as many risks and consequences as you can. The better your analysis, the better your decision will be in the long term. Focus specifically on the areas where you lost points, and develop a system that will work for you across a wide variety of situations. (Read below to start.) 67-90 You have an excellent approach to decision-making! You know how to set up the process and generate lots of potential solutions. From there, you analyze the options carefully, and you make the best decisions possible based on what you know. As you gain more and more experience, use that information to evaluate your decisions, and continue to build on your decision-making success. Think about the areas where you lost points, and decide how you can include those areas in your process. (Read below to start.) As you answered the questions, did you see some common themes? We based our quiz on six essential steps in the decision-making process: 1. Establishing a positive decision-making environment. 2. Generating potential solutions. 3. Evaluating the solutions. 4. Deciding. 5. Checking the decision. 6. Communicating and implementing. If you're aware of these six basic elements and improve the way you structure them, this will help you develop a better overall decision-making system. Let's look at the six elements individually. They have different business customs, social protocols, and languages. However, they also have a strong relationship with several of your vendors so they may be viable business partners for your hamburger franchise expansion project. 1. In order to prepare for your first outreach effort with each country, analyze the cultural similarities and differences that exist between the countries and the United States using Geert Hofstede’s 6 Dimensions as discussed in class. Provide a discussion of these comparisons (400-600 words). 2. Using the United States as a basis for comparison, evaluate each country’s similarities and differences. Use your textbook and the CTU Library to help identify cultural characteristics that will be important during your first meeting with each country. Created by Mozilla Research in 2012 and now part of Linux Foundation Europe, the Servo project is an experimental rendering engine written in Rust. It combines memory safety and concurrency to create an independent, modular, and embeddable rendering engine that adheres to web standards. Stewardship of Servo moved from Mozilla Research to the Linux Foundation in 2020, where its mission remains unchanged. After some slow years, in 2023 there has been renewed activity on the project, with a roadmap now focused on improving the engine’s CSS 2 conformance, exploring Android support, and making Servo a practical embeddable rendering engine. In this presentation, Rakhi Sharma reviews the status of the project, our recent developments in 2023, our collaboration with Tauri to make Servo an easy-to-use embeddable rendering engine, and our plans for the future to make Servo an alternative web rendering engine for the embedded devices industry.
