This document discusses different types of card catalogs and online library resources. •Type of card catalog organized by
the last name of the author. If
more than one book collaborated
on the book, the author listed first
is the one that appears on the
card catalog.

title of the book and
publishing information are
listed. The bottom of the
card contains a list of 3-5
main subjects that
correspond with the book.

on how to find this
book in the library,
usually in the form of
a specific call number.

9. TITLE CATALOG
Provides an easy way for a person to
find a specific book or multimedia
holding by its title.
Contains all of the same information
that the author catalog contains, but
the information is rearranged on each
card entry.

publishing

•Organizes all of the
library holdings by
the main subjects of
the title.

14. ONLINE PUBLIC ACCESS
CATALOG
(OPAC)
•is an online bibliography
of a library collection
that is available to the
public.

Internet, most libraries have
made their OPAC accessible
from a server to users all over
the world.

ENGINE
• is a software system that is designed
to search for information on the
World Wide Web.
• The search results are generally
presented in a line of results often
referred to as search
engine results pages (SERPs).
