2. Client
Requirement
Client required a web toolbar having a complete list of directories pertaining to Business, Shops,
Locations, Verticals, Industry, Restaurants, Hotels etc. The toolbar will act as a complete Online
Location Guide on web.
Client acquires a famous local search engine website. Further, he expects the similar feature of
the website to be replicated with its Web Toolbar. The purpose is to let each user who has
installed the toolbar to easily navigate to any information or location through a single click.
This toolbar is specifically designed for the users who want their search refined within minimal
clicks. It displays the result quickly and helps users to navigate with pre-defined search options
provided in the toolbar. Functional features of this toolbar are as follows:
 Home Website Logo: Clicking on the logo the user will be redirected to client’s official website.
 City: User can refine the search by city. Select from the list of nearby state available and the
toolbar will display it in the grid.
 What? : Text Box allows an automatic generated record to refine the user’s search.
 Where? : Depending on the City and the Selection, user gets a list of locations found in that
predefined locations/areas etc.
 Restaurants: Button has been given. On clicking the button, the page will be redirected to
the list of recommended restaurants applied in the client’s Database Server.
 Movies: Redirects to the list of popular Movies, Reviews, Theatres etc. records.
 Events: Displays the lists of events running and their venue information and nearby
destination.
 Google Search: This toolbar enrolls with major search engines. A shortcut text bar has been
provided in the toolbar which allows users to search by entering the keywords in the toolbar
under Google Text Box itself without visiting Google externally.
 Facebook and Twitter Integration: Two different icons are provided at the end of the
toolbar. On clicking these icons, users can add client’s information to Facebook and Twitter
according to the entered account login details.
 Themes Change: User can change the background color scheme with the help of Toolbar
Settings.

Challenges
Team faced the following challenges:


A complete installer which is being embedded with a huge range of client’s database
had to be integrated properly.
Theme Function had to work on the basis of the Toolbar Settings feature and was
completely dynamic.

Biggest challenge for us was to create sync between the Toolbar and the client’s
website because each record and entry is inter-related with each other and information
is being displayed dynamically.

Auto-Suggestion of data filtering on a single click and the selection relative to data
should get displayed in the required order to provide pre-defined choices for the user
to select the required information.

4. Planning

The first step towards planning involved graphical representation of the toolbar. The design
was made appealing and easy to navigate by any user.

A couple of images required by the client had to fit within the area of the toolbar.

Next step was to research on auto-suggestion features for all the fields provided in the
toolbar.

Later Installer Steps were designed and defined as very simple and easy to use.

The toolbar was made compatible with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox Browsers. It
was made compatible with all browser and Window’s versions.
