This document outlines ideas for a music video featuring a rap song. It proposes a laidback, streetwear style costume featuring tracksuits, sneakers, jeans, hoodies, and popular brands. Locations near Waterloo Station and in the countryside are suggested to film scenes of the rapper walking, sitting on a hill, and partying with friends. Camera techniques like close-ups, tracking shots, and low angles are recommended to portray the rapper's movement and empowerment. Props like smoke bombs and UV lights could set the scene at a party. Lighting would be natural during the day but use backlight at night. The target audience is seen as 16-24 year olds to reflect the song's themes of
2. Ideas for costume
Style: Laidback, street fashion
Main ideas:
Tracksuits
Air maxes
Ripped Jeans
Hoodies
BAPE brand
Supreme
Watches
Bomber jackets
Northface
Jean jacket
3. Ideas for setting
This location is near waterloo station which
means its simple and easy to get there. This
location is intriguing as we can imagine our
song being placed here, with dancers and the
rapper. Rap genre normally conveys a
background which the rapper raps behind.
4. Ideas for setting
This location is local as well, and with this
location we can implement many camera angles
which are portrayed in music videos e.g. low
angle tilt upwards, which can make the person in
the field of view to seem bigger. We can do
shots from the top of mountain and bottom
whilst the rapper is at top. We can implement
dancing in these locations which would have the
mountains and lake in background.
5. Ideas for setting
Street: we have an idea of Filming the rap
scenes in the middle of the street as we
can make the characters walk towards the
camera whilst rapping to create an effect of
the audience being pushed back. This
location can be dangerous however we will
choose less busy roads and smaller roads.
6. Ideas for narrative
So we start the video in the final minutes of the
school day finishing, the person says goodbye to
friends then we would have shots of him walking
home and whilst he is walking he will show hand
gestures and movement whilst walking so it
portrays the conventions of rap.
Then we have him sitting on sofa relaxing
responding to texts and then getting changed so
putting on his coat and shoes.
We have shots of him leaving his house and
meeting up with friends and joking around. Then
we have him at the party surrounded by girls,
money and drinks which then we would have
slow-motion of dancers and people partying.
We show shots of them having a good time and
then shots of him getting changed and into bed
to sleep and relax
7. Camera angles and movement
Extreme Close ups on his phone, who
he’s texting which would lead and
explain where he is going.
Long shot on his outfits, in house, and
outside
Establishing shots of the roads,
Aerial shots on him behind the graffiti
walls
Low angle tilt upwards on him sitting
on the sofa drinking.
Tracking shots on him walking so his
shoes and trouses are shown.
Extreme close up on watches, brands
Rule of thirds: he’s in the centre with
friends behind him,
Tracking shots on him dancing
Shot of his back when he’s sitting on
the hill
Low angle tilt upward when he’s on the
hill to show his empowerment.
8. Possible props we would use
Smoke bombs whilst the
dancers are dancing. We
would have this to make the
scenery more colourful
which is what hip hop rap
genre is about.
UV lights shown at the party
scene this is where dancers
would dance in and the light
would reflect on white
clothing which means it
would be easier to set the
scene of a pary.
9. Lighting
Natural lighting so daytime, maybe some
scenes recorded in the dark with back
light to create a shadow,
We might get lights which create purple
or different colours to make the room
chance colour which would impact the
atmosphere of the video.
Target audience
16-24 year olds because we might include
alcohol, vape pens which may influence a
teenagers below such age of 16 to do
them. We think that this song applies to
teenagers over age of 16 as that’s when
we are the most independent which
means we go out more with friends, stay
up till late and come home late it’s the
most rebellious stage.
This song would still apply to 20-24 year
olds as well as the song is about spending
money which 24yr olds have due to them
working so the main chorus Friday shows
the week ending and their wild weekend
starting so they can destress.
