MARCH – A Month to march Ahead and how can it be better than the special day THE
WOMENS DAY .
It’s a month where the sky is full of rainbow colors of our ongoing HOLI .
It’s the month to paint your Canvas Yes your CANVAS of Life
Life is a choiceless choice but NOW you can make your right choice.
Ifyouhaveanemptycanvastheremustbeareasonwhyyouhaveitso.YES.YouareanARTIST...
You are a PAINTER... You are given brush and colors. It is upto you to use as many colors as
possible to make the canvas colorful and presentable. Success has too many fathers and failure
has none
Colors are the language of the light. They fill the world because everything is colour in and
around us.
Each one of them is a manifestation of spirit and has the ability to influence our daily lives. The
colours of our clothes, the decoration of our homes are not neutral, they act for our well-being
or our unhappiness.
Red brings dynamism, enthusiasm, initiative, entrepreneurship, holy activity and creativity.
After the red comes the colour orange, the spirit of joy. It opens the perception of inner life,
refines feelings, reinforces sensations, awakens the free and inner happiness.
The colour yellow, the spirit of wisdom, allows you to strengthen right thinking, achieve
knowledge and develop clarity of spirit.

Thecolourblue,thespiritofthetruesoul,bringspeace,plenitude,love,andhigherconsciousness,

ear Readers,
Healers and trainers are a
part of one of the fastest growing
fields in India. This makes the field very
attractive even from a career perspective.
In every field of work, you will find
broadly two categories of people.
~One who are efficient, genuine and
who operate out of integrity.
~Two who lack integrity and
genuineness
People from the first category are
generally motivated by their passion towards
the work and have holistic view of how what
they do benefits them as well as others.
People from the second category are
generally motivated by their personal gains
even if they are at the cost of others.
Like all fields you will find these
categories of people even in the field of
healing and training. The first category of
people inspire confidence in these fields and
the second one bring bad name to the field.
On top of this, today bad news seems to
travel faster and has more retention in our
memory. It is for this reason, that it becomes
important to highlight and reward the good
work done by those in the first category. This
act of highlighting and rewarding good
work helps us spread the word about those
healers and therapists that we know are
doing good work thereby instilling more
confidence in this field and encouraging
normal people to seek help from these
experts
One of the primary motives behind
bliss equity was to do so by publishing
articles and interviews of such experts.
This month we took a major step in this
direction by associating with ISHMA
(International Spiritual & Hindu
Mythology Awareness World Network) for
the 3rd annual ISHMA Awards to
recognize and honour those Individuals,
Leaders and Organizations which have
been spearheading the work of creating
Spiritual Awareness by way of their
practices, therapies and trainings.
In this edition of bliss equity you will
find the highlights of the award function
along with the articles of those who were
the recipients of these awards.
Though March is the month of the
festival of colours “Holi”, we have had a
very colourful month of February. Looking
forward to contribute towards making this
world a more colourful place to live.
Wishing you all a very happy Holi !!!

Certified Angel Intuitive by Doreen

T
he word ‘Gratitude’, as interpreted
by the English Webster's
dictionary, means 'readiness to
show appreciation for and to
return kindness'.
Gratitude is a simple word , yet
completely fulfilling.
Our Gratitude (thankfulness), begins
with the Divine. The Divine who created us,
who shapes our lives, the Divine within each
of us.
Today, in this following meditation, let's
share and spread the gift of 'Gratitude',
within our very being, sending it to the
environment all around us.
1. Begin by closing your eyes and relaxing.
2. Breathe in 3 times and let go all worries to
heaven. Relax your muscles. Let go. Know
that there is a Light up there taking care of
all.
3. You may relax with your head on a couch
or lie down. Now call upon God-whoever
,you may have faith in, respected Divine
Masters and your Guardian Angels to be
with you.
4. As you do so, feel the gentle embrace of
the Divine light all around you, shielding
you in a vibrant cocoon of self-love and
joy.
5. Now, in your mind repeat 3 times or
more:
a) I am Grateful to the Divine
b) I am Grateful for who I am.
c)IacceptmyselfwithLoveandGratitude
to self.
d) My every cell is filled with Self-love
and Gratitude and I am radiating it
out into the Universe.
e).I am grateful for every situation in my
life. I am .I am.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
6. As you repeat these Affirmations in your
mind, a sense of peace prevails and
illuminates your being. You begin to feel
a sense of Gratitude towards self, for
loving yourself so much and for the
person that you are.
7. Allow this light of Gratitude to fill your
entire being-every cell, tissue, organ,
muscle, bone-every part of your body.
You may give this light of Gratitude, a
colour ,if you will.
8. Breathe it in. Soak it in. Feel harmony
towards self and the world around.
9. Now, you may send it to every person,
place, situation ,event for allowing you
to grow and learn so much. For allowing
you to become the strong human that
you are today.
For choosing you, so you may realize
the blessings of Love.
10.	With complete Gratitude in Your heart
and body, thank Divine, Masters and
your Guardian Angels for everything.
Remember, there's always a wonderful
purpose behind every act-a Divine
design ,made especially for you.
11.	Thanking God for all the Love, inhale
peace, joy, contentment and Gratitude.
12.	You may rub your palms and open your
eyes, when you will, ending with 'Thank
You-Thank You- Thank You'.
May you all live a joyous, blessed life
filled with more and more reasons to be in
Gratitude, every day.

The Birth of Crystals

I
n Indian mythology, particularly the
Puranas, it is written that the demon
King Bali who had achieved his powers
because of his good deeds, once
vanquished all the Gods and Demi-Gods.
This angered them and Lord Indra then
disguised himself as a Brahmin priest to
teach Bali a lesson. Indra, in disguise, went
to Bali and asked for alms. Bali agreed and
asked the Brahmin what he wanted. Indra
told Bali to give himself up to be sacrificed
in the form of a buffalow. Bali agreed to this
and was sacrificed. Because Bali offered his
body to the Brahmin priest (Indra) for a
noble deed, he became pure and his body
was converted into nine gems of eighty four
types. The story says that wherever the
pieces of his body fell, gems related to that
part of the body were created.
Wherever his bones fell on earth,
mines of Diamonds were created.
Wherever his teeth fell, Pearls were
created.
His blood which had evaporated by the
sun fell into a river and Rubies were created.
His bile was carried by the king of
snakes Vasuki, and in a battle with the eagle
God Garuda it dropped to the earth and
emeralds were created.
His eyes fell down to the earth and Blue
Sapphires were created.
His skin fell on the Himalayas and
became yellow and White Sapphires.
His sound ,which was a roar, turned
into Cats Eye.
His arms and the other parts of his
body turned into other precious and semi
precious stones.
His semen turned into Hessonite, or
Cinnamon stone, aka Garnets.
His intestines became Coral.
His fat became Quartz.
The rest of his body turned into Agates.
The story goes on to say that the nine
planets then decided to distribute these
stones amongst themselves.
Sun selected Ruby
Moon selected Pearls
Mars selected Coral
Mercury selected Emerald
Jupiter selected Yellow sapphire
Venus selected Diamond
Saturn selected Blue Sapphire
Rahu selected Hessonite
Ketu selected Cats Eye.
The scripture on Healing called the
Annubhut Yogmala lists these stones and
states that they should be used to cure
diseases related to the parts of the sacrificed
body of Bali. The list of 84 stones, besides
the gem stones are mentioned by their
Hindi names.
They include Amethyst, Amber,
Aquamarine, Agate, Bloodstone, Carnelian,
Citrine, Epidote,Flint, Garnet, Goldstone,
Jade, Lodestone, Lapis Lazuli, Malachite,
Moonstone, Moss Agate, Onyx, Opal,
Peridot, Quartz, Spinel, Tigers Eye, Topaz,
Tourmaline, Turquoise and Zircon.
The healing power of stones is not just a
superstition but in fact a cure that was
widely used in all parts of the world. They
would use stones to ingest in powder form
or oxides. They would create amulets and
talismans to be worn and elixirs which they
could drink. These days healers who work
with crystal stones prescribe a combination
of stones which can be carried or worn to
effect a cure. A simple way to find the right
stone for any issue is to relate it to the
chakra, the organs or parts of the body
connected to a particular chakra and the
colour of that particular chakra. There are a
number of stones that are used according to
the properties of that particular stone
irrespective of their colour.
To learn more about crystals and their
healing powers, you are welcome to attend
my workshops. I have a wide range of
crystals you can buy from my centre Serenity
Crystals.

at the same time it will create a ripple effect in
connecting your heart & throat chakra which will help you to broadcast
your feelings & emotions very effectively. Cut down on sweets & junks.

"N
ow is the time to get back
on the main road."
Sometimes it seems that we
have been sidetracked and
have lost sight of our true destination. For
the sake of attaining the Self develop leading
to the Truth there is a need to focus and
simplify terms as blame, guilt, fault. However
to experience the Self we must follow a path.
Even to achieve something in daily life, we
have to work for it. We cannot satisfy our
appetite merely by reading the recipe, to
satisfy there is a need to collect ingredients of
food, cook it and we have to eat. In the same
way to have an authentic inner experience we
have to follow a path. Let it be the Natural
Path. It is one that we can do in our own
world, without abandoning our family, our
work, or our daily activities. A short story of
Lord Buddha while he was practicing his
Sadhna. One day two musicians pass by the
place where he was sitting. One was saying to
the other, "Do not tighten the strings of your
instrument too much or they will break. Do
not keep them loose too or they will produce
no sound at all. Follow the Middle path."
These words hit Lord Buddha with great
force. Immediately, he gave up his severe
Sadhna and began to follow an easy and
natural one. Being on this natural path the
Self is seen. It brings inner experience,
removes worries, our understanding of
internal and external things become sharper.
And Meditation is a natural Sadhna. It's
Universal. Follow the Road Map to the
Divine, be patient and committed. Success is
Your Way.
A Complete Path. Embark on.

Simple Home Remedies to
Get Over Depression
GIRIJA SHANKER
D
epression is very common in
human beings. We all go through
depression at some point of time
in our life. It is a normal reaction
in certain circumstances like a loss of a loved
one, loss of job, certain hardships in life etc.
People generally get over these feelings
eventually and get on with life.
But when such feelings last for days,
weeks or months interfering with one’s daily
activities it calls for action to get over it.
There are certain things you could do to
help yourself at home before you label
yourself as a victim of depression. You could
follow these simple, natural and herbal
treatments that could help deal with your
depressed state of mind.
1. Try massaging your body and/or your
hair with nice, warm oil. Steam your hair
with the oil on for about an hour or two.
Use a natural shampoo. This normally
gives a great feeling of relief after a good
shower.
2. Rosemary also known as compass weed,
polar plant or compass plant is great for
depression. Take 8-10 rosemary leaves
and boil them in a cup of water. Add 1
teaspoon of honey to this water. Wait for a
couple of hours and strain and drink.
This is known to resolve depression
soon.
3. Aromatherapy greatly helps your body
and mind to relax and bring you back to
yourself. Herbal oils such as jasmine,
rose or lime are known to relax your
mind and body. Total relaxation helps to
tide over depression in no time.
4. Some people resort to ice cream, potato
chips or other fatty foods to get over
depression. You could instead use
oatmeal with nuts and fruits which is
healthy and at the same would help you
in getting over depression.
5. Mild exercise such as walking in fresh air
is good for relaxation.
6. Deep breathing exercises such as yoga
tends to relax your mind and body in a
healthy way.
7. While many people turn tobacco and
caffeine in cigarettes and coffee or tea it
is best to stay from these substances.
8. Seeds, soy proteins, sprouts are known
natural foods that are effective in curing
depression.
9. Time spent or tranquility or quietly
looking at natural scenery such as
sunsets, moonlight, waves, etc. tends to
calm your mind.
10.	A good sleep greatly helps.
11.	Take 2 cardamoms and pound them to
make a powder. Add these to a cup of
boiling water and add sugar to taste. Try
it twice a day for a couple of days. You
might feel a definite difference.
12.	Solitude and prayer helps a lot in
soothing your troubled mind during
mental disturbances in life.
13.	Anything that helps you to relax your
mind and body would work well to get
over your depression. These are just a
few of simple home remedies that are
known to help during depression.

Cancer
O
n hearing the word “cancer’ the first
belief that comes to mind “it is like
death sentence being pronounced
to someone for which there is no
recourse”. Thus one feels that there is a intense
fight with a very strong and enemy which is
likely to destroy one’s life physically, mentally
and socially ultimately.
Cancer literally means abnormal
multiplication and non-differentiation of cells,
which leads to formation of malignant tumors;
these may invade other parts of the body.
However there are certain benign tumors that
donotinvadeandthusdonotspreadthroughout
the body. There are over hundred different
known cancers that affect human beings.
In the natural course human anatomy and
physiology the cell division (formation),
maturation, growth, differentiation and death
are controlled and structured this is called
homeostasis. Incancerousstatethishomeostasis
is lost, leading to continuous unstructured
formationofuselessandmature/immaturecells.
As per the present convention this can also be
termed as a MISTAKE of the human body, and
therebytheconventionalmodeoftreatmentisto
restrict and destroy this unstructured growth of
cells through the drugs (chemotherapy),
radiationand/orsurgery.META-Healthbelieves
‘that body has not made a ‘MISTAKE’. META-
Health has a totally different point of view for
genesis and treatment of cancer. To understand
the above let us understand the human brain
The human brain has 4 brain layers; each
has got a specific function to perform which are
as follows:
• Brain stem:
• Cerebellum:
• Medulla:
• Cortex:
Theconflictwillfallonaspecificbrainlayer
and will be addressed by only one organ in that
brain layer which is best suited to resolve the
conflict. For example lungs and more precisely
the lung alveoli, which are responsible for
oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange, are linked
to death fight conflict which can be triggered by
a life threatening situation e.g. war. A lot of
people after fear of death conflict can develop
lung cancer. Colon cancer, which commonest
cancer in the United sates, is on rise since the
year 2008, when the global meltdown stared.
People had no choice but to swallow what had
happened but they could not let go of what
happenedtothem. Theyhadbeenputinavery
shitty place without their fault. This led to
increase in colon cancers.
Researchers have found a correlation
between experiencing loss and cancer. Since
the global meltdown people have experienced
various losses in life, which has created a
massive loss of jobs, which in turn made,
people lose their house and many relationships
could not sustain this loss. People felt
completely out of control. People, who did not
go through actual job loss, lived in massive fear
of losing one. Giant organizations crashed,
manytoplevelemployeesofvariouscompanies
committed suicide and left their families in the
doom. This loss made them lose meaning of
their life, which in turn triggered loss of hope.
Many people displayed behavior where they
did not want to live any more. Increase in:
terrorism, break up of family units, divorces,
number of women going out to work and
putting children in day care, sexual abuse cases
can create a loss of dignity self respect and loss
of child which can in turn give rise onset of
ovarian and testicular cancer. More so at times
despite being stable in their jobs people are
living in constant fear of losing their job. So
they will try to please their boss and try be
committed to their job will lead to high
achieving people with very little happiness, self
worth or confidence. They desperately want to
fit in the system that they will not express their
own feelings needs and emotions and will
constantly think that it is their responsibility to
keep their parents, siblings, spouses and
children happy. All of the above led to increase
the risk of cancer by three folds. This leads to
emotional trauma and giving rise to highly
unresolved anger. Our next generation will
haveahigherincidenceofcancerasindividuals
may have higher aspirations and low
satisfaction levels; they are constantly striving
to meet the demands placed by one. Would
anybody like to live in this type of mechanical
world?
Recognition of the stressful event and
correction of the emotional trauma attached to
it, by changing perceptions and giving better
coping mechanisms to the individual we can
actually combat cancer. In other words we can
say “(I) can-sir” be assertive and deal with the

stressful events, change my perception and be
empowered to get out of the situation. This
would be like ‘taking out the pride out of the
word cancer.”
As prevention is better than cure. We
needtocreateawarenessatfamilyunits,school
andorganizationallevelsbyreachingouttothe
masses. Acceptance of the problem and
action taken to rectify it with techniques like
advanced clearing energetic (ACE), emotional
freedom techniques (EFT), Nutri-energetics
system (NES) and MATRIX imprinting help
us not only to deal with cancers but to prevent
the onset of disease.
Case studies: Mrs X sent her child, her
only emotional support to the hostel. She was
divorced and was the only earning member in
the family. Her mother suffered from
dysthymia and her brother was a case of
depression and had no job since ages. This
made her realize that she is responsible for
nurturing everybody including her business.
She suffered losses in her business, which
made her feel that she will not be able to
nurture everyone as she wants. She suffered
from bilateral breast cancer. She was treated
with NES, ACE and EFT and had attended
META-Health workshops. Within a month
and a half she was perfectly fine.
“Cancer is evil or destructive practice or phenomenon that is hard to contain or eradicate”.

Fear Phobia
PAULOMI PANDIT
F
ear is an inbuilt survival mechanism.
Like other emotions, the intensity of
fear can vary from mild to medium,
or intense. Fear response, or the
‘fight-or-flight’ mechanism can be activated
in our bodies whenever we sense danger or if
we are confronted with something that
seems potentially dangerous.
However, many situations are simply
perceived as being dangerous but in reality
may not be dangerous. In other words, these
are symbolic stressors which can activate fear
response, which can be unnecessary at times.
For example, a person may see a dog at a
distance and get scared, starts sweating and
trembling. Now this reaction is not needed
since the dog is not causing any harm
currently. (This reaction may be necessary
only if the dog is trying to bite you).
However sometimes fear can be useful
as well. E.g. A person who can’t swim and
feels scared to dive in a pool, ensures safety
and takes precautions. However, fears
become a reason for concern when they are
persistent and disrupt our daily functioning.
Now most of the times, our fears are due
to certain associations –
•• Past experiences: A girl may panic the
moment it starts raining, because she was
held up at a place for 2 days due to heavy
rains.
•• Learning: A child may observe his elder
brother getting scared of lizards and
reacting in a particular way. The child
may pick it up, thinking this must be
dangerous and eventually learn to feel
scared.
What is the difference between fears and
phobias?
In most cases for an outsider the fears
may appear to be irrational, but the person
who is experiencing the fear generally seems
to have a rationale behind holding on to the
fear. This is where from a therapeutic
perspective phobia becomes different from
fears. For most phobic responses even people
who have the phobia understand that the
phobia is irrational. People who have
phobias may even know that what they feel
has no specific reason, but they still feel
petrified!
Fear is when an individual sees a dog
and gets nervous. One is said to have a
phobia, when a person might not even enter
a park because he might see a dog. In a way
it is a very intense fear which the person
knows is irrational.
So what happens in the mind when we
feel fear or phobia?
We are aware that, stimulus creates
response. What we need to know is that
there is an internal world between stimulus
and response. This internal world is unique
to each of us and this determines the kind
of response we give to the stimulus. That is
why, not all of us are scared of dogs, snakes,
lizards, etc.
Let us take an example from a case: A
woman jumped and screamed every time
she saw a cockroach. She knew the
cockroach couldn’t harm her, but she
reacted that way automatically and felt very
scared.
During a therapy session (based on
integration of Hypnotherapy & NLP), she
realised that in her mind, the cockroach is
enlarged and becomes as tall as a five storey
building who is coming closer to eat her!
Her response was appropriate for her
imagination. However, this story in the
internal world din’t serve her any purpose.
Instead, it gave her an undesired response.
Now, if the mind can create creepy
stories in the internal world, it can also
convert those into funny or pleasant ones.
Since the fear / phobia response in most
cases is a result of the internal story, as the
story changes so does the response.
And that is exactly how the therapy can
help, i.e by helping the client change this
internal story in a way in which it benefits
the client.

ABC Model REBT
MISBA SHAH
+91- 9930808473
R
ational Emotive Behaviour
therapy (REBT) is a very powerful
and a useful model; not just in
terms of therapy but also for day
to day application and understanding life.
It holds the premise that we are driven
by our beliefs. The consequences of any
event are not due to the event; it is due to the
belief about that event which leads to
making us act or feel in a certain way.
To illustrate this, we will be using a
simple ABC model developed by Dr.
Albert Ellis. In this model:
(‘A’) refers to Activating event which
means whatever it is that started things off: a
circumstance, another person’s behaviour or
our own thoughts about something which
has happened.
(‘B’) refers to our beliefs. These beliefs
can about ourselves, others, things,
situation. Beliefs can be specific or
generalised.
(‘C’) refers to the consequence i.e our
reaction to (A) in terms of both emotions
and behaviours
LET US TAKE AN EXAMPLE TO
UNDERSTAND THIS:
Say two boys have to make individual
presentations in front of the same group.
This will be the first presentation that either
of them has ever made and both of them
have prepared well.
Yet the first boy at the time of
presentation gets nervous, goes blank and
his presentation goes for a toss. Whereas,
the second boy is confident and presents
effectively.. Both these boys were in exactly
the same situations but their emotional and
behavioural response was different.
For both the boys the activating event
was facing the audience. For the first boy
the activating event triggered a belief that I
am not capable and not good enough which
lead to the feeling of nervousness and poor
presentation. For the second boy the
activating event triggered a belief that I am
capable and good which leads to the feeling
of confidence and effective presentation.
Once we understand our behaviour
through the ABC model, in order to create
a positive change in our behaviour we can
add a DE to the same.
(‘D’) represents Disputing irrational
beliefs
(‘E’) represents creating Effective new
belief
Going back to the earlier example let us
understand the application of D & E for
the boy who got nervous.
So if we were to dispute the original
belief that I am not capable and not good in
a way that we could break it along with
creating an effective new belief that I am
capable and good, the boy would now begin
to feel confident which given the fact that he
is well prepared will help him deliver
effectively.

Importance of Mental Health
SUKESHI
I
n today’s world, so many services are
available to us for every discomfort that
we face. Tap not working? There is a
plumber. Some problem with wiring?
There’s an electrician. Similarly, something
wrong with your health? There’s the doctor.
In other words, in case of a physiological
problem (whether minor ones like cough
and cold which don’t go away through mere
home remedies, or major health issues), we
always look for professional help; this
physical care not only extends to the diseases
or discomforts but also on improving and
modifying our physical appearance! The
numbers of advertisement shown on our
television about becoming fair with soaps
and creams or becoming muscular with
some pills are some of the many examples.
Thus, we look after our physical comforts.
However, do we care enough for our
emotional and mental discomforts? Not
really. We take medicines to heal our
physiological problems and in most cases
even pay incredible amount of money for
these treatments. This is good, because it is
important to have a healthy body!
Nevertheless, we somehow fail to
acknowledge our emotional and mental
well-being.
Why don’t we feel comfortable visiting a
therapist in case of an emotional issue? What
stops us from investing in self-help/self-
growth/self-awareness programs? With the
growing scientific research and evidence, it is
clear that health includes not only physical,
but also emotional and mental aspects of us,
which constantly affect and influence our
lives. What stops us from looking after our
emotional and mental discomforts?
LET US CHECK SOME OF THE
COMMON RESPONSES FROM PEOPLE:
‘We may come across as losers if we go
for such programs.’ Many say ‘How could we
share our feelings/ personal issues with a
stranger?’ or ‘I know it is important but
people would label me as a crackpot or a
nutcase’. Some say ‘If I need these courses or
a therapist, maybe I am not good enough.’
Then there are these people who love to say
‘People are so biased but they need it,
people should take up self-help courses it
is always a good add on to your life! People
really shouldacknowledge all this.’ My
question, would you like to sign up for a
performanceimprovementcourse?Answer:
No I don’t think I need any performance
improvement!
Maybe! But, this makes me think of
two things, either we believe that there is no
scope of improving performance or we are
being hypocritical by stating that people
should enroll for such courses.
Another example, on a similar line,
some people say things like ‘my girlfriend
needs to see a therapist you know, she keeps
complaining about my behaviour and I so
hate that.’ My question, since it is a
relationship, do you think it will be more
helpful if both of you see therapist, together?
Boyfriend ‘She has all the issues and she
complains, I don’t need any therapist!’
WHERE DO THESE RESPONSES
COME FROM?
They occur due to many
misconceptions and pre-conceived notions
about this field. Many come from the media,
many due to lack of awareness and many
due to the fear of unknown. In addition, our
academics do not emphasize on the
importance of mental health as much as it
does on the physical health. Even though,
many schools focus on value education
which is very useful, physical health is given
more importance. So all these factors put
together complete the circle.
Just like physical issues, emotional/
mental issues can have varied intensities.
Every issue/problem is handled differently.
Like, cold cough and fever will be of a
different intensity compared to typhoid or
TB which will be different from cancer.
Similarly, emotional or mental issues are
different in nature, aspects like stress, break
ups, loss of a loved one, or various disorders
like Anxiety disorders, Obsessive
Compulsive Disorders, Schizophrenia and
so on need different course of action.
The steps to be taken to overcome or
handle any of the above mentioned
problems, are tailor made for the
individuals.
With more awareness, people are
beginning to open up to the idea of
emotional & mental well-being. There is a
positive trend, however, there are many
more who still hesitate to acknowledge
these aspects. I hope that with time,
everyone would be able to overcome the
hesitation, misconceptions or fear of
accepting the importance of emotional and
mental well-being.

What is Hypnosis?
NITIN SHAH
+91- 9930808473
HYPNOSIS IS
•• A state of focused attention
•• When a person is in an auto pilot mode
•• A process that shifts one’s awareness from
outside to inside
•• A type of negotiation with unconscious
mind
•• A process to bypassing critical filter of mind
•• A state of hyper suggestibility
All the above could be summarized as
Hypnosis is a way to access & suggest to a
person’s subconscious mind directly.
SO HOW HYPNOSIS WORKS?
In order to understand the process of
hypnosis and how it works, one needs to
understand the model of mind and the
functions of the different parts of mind.
THE CONSCIOUS MIND (10-12 %):
Normally, you are only aware of the
thought processes in your conscious mind. You
consciously think over the problems that are
right in front of you, consciously choose words
as you speak, consciously try to remember
where you left your keys.
But in doing all these things, your
conscious mind is working hand-in-hand with
your subconscious mind
•• It is like the CPU of a computer with current
rules of life
•• Its functions include thinking, finding logic,
feeling, analyzing, deciding, controlling
voluntary body movements
•• The conscious mind exercises what we call
will power.
•• It is also the place of working memory
(memory we use every day to function).
THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND (88-90 %)
Itistheunconsciouspartofyourmindthat
does your “behind the scenes” thinking.
Your subconscious mind accesses the vast
reservoir of information that lets you solve
problems, construct sentences or locate your
keys. It puts together plans and ideas and runs
them by your conscious mind. When a new
idea comes to you out of the blue, it’s because
you already thought through the process
unconsciously.
Your subconscious also takes care of all the
stuff you do automatically.
It controls all of the autonomic processes
that you don’t have to think about – the heart
rate, the blood pressure, tissue growth, cell
regeneration, the immune system and so on.
It’s where our thoughts, memories and
accumulated experience reside. It controls our
emotions, our habits and our responses to the
world.
You don’t actively work through the steps
of breathing minute to minute – your
subconscious mind does that. You don’t think
through every little thing you do while driving
a car – a lot of the small stuff is thought out in
your subconscious mind.
The vast majority of things that we do are
unconscious, which we can be grateful for – if
you had to consciously think about every
singlethingyoudid,youwouldn’tdoanything.
However, it can lead us astray.
Most problems are things that we’ve
learned how to do at an unconscious level in
an unhelpful way.
•• It can be compared to the hard disk of a
computer
•• Basicfunctionincludesstoringinformation
andcontrollinginvoluntarybodyfunctions
o Divided in two parts:
 Modern Memory (All current life
experiences)
 Primitive Mind (All instincts that a
person is born with)
CRITICAL FILTER
The critical filter contains our beliefs,
programming / conditioning & is responsible
for the inhibitory process.
Itliespartlyintheconsciousandpartlyin
the subconscious areas of your mind. The
function of the critical mind is that of a
gatekeeper who controls the flow of
information from the conscious to the
subconscious. The information flowing into
the conscious mind is evaluated here and the
decision is then made whether to accept or
rejectthatinput.Iftheinformationisaccepted,
itisimmediatelypassedontothesubconscious
mind for long-term storage. If the information
isnotaccepted,itiseitherrejectedimmediately
or vented later during sleep in the dream state.
THE WAY TO GET TO THE
SUBCONSCIOUS MIND AND BYPASS
THE CRITICAL FILTER IS:
The only way a real change can take place
is to get the new programming into our
subconscious mind.
1. Through our memories, habits, and
emotions.
•• o Memories are only created through
experience and you may need many
positive experiences to diminish the effects
the negative experience. This could take a
long time to create.
•• o Habits require willpower and time
in order to become habits.
•• o Emotions either happen randomly
or require changing the way you think
about a situation and that can be
enormously difficult to do and also take
time.
2. Through hypnosis.
WHAT DOES HYPNOSIS DO?
Hypnosis works by updating the
unconscious / subconscious mind with new
and more helpful information, like
reprogramming a computer.
Hypnosis is a much easier way to bypass
the critical filter. Under hypnosis, the critical
filter goes to sleep for a while. The Conscious
Mindstaysawake,andcanstillmakedecisions.
But now you’re in control while your
subconscious is receptive to any suggestion
that your conscious mind wants to let in.

Introducing Mindfulness & Meditation
To Primary School Childrens In India
We come to recognize there are many
schools in India, which are low performing
schools. It is not that these children are
unable to read; it is that very frequently they
are unable to sort information and to
concentrate due to untrained minds and
overstimulation. The correct usage of yoga
and meditation can sharpen their
intelligence, provide increased mental
flexibility, creativity, increased focus, and
increase the receptive capacity of their brain.
A Vision of Shiva Girish, founder of the
Satya Shivam Sundram for Yoga and
Meditation & Stress reduction programs for
modern india, We like to inaugurate the
practice of Mindfulness & Active Meditation
Programs For Schools, Collage Children s In
India, Here we will instruct youngsters how
to integrate academic resources and apply
them to their utmost benefits through yoga
and meditation.
There are many creative ways of bringing
meditation into your school. Shiva empowers
educators with tools they can bring into the
classroom, into the staff training’s, and with
parents and volunteers, to make make
mindfulness and meditation interesting and
engaging for children. The school
administration can employ this opportunity
to invite and get in touch with parents to
utilize in home life, to offer as public
workshops for families, to teach the staff to
integrate within the classroom, and as
workshops to help staff grow so they can
bring more to the classroom.
MINDFULNESS & MEDITATION
BENEFIT SCHOOL CHILDRENS
The creation of great future of India
rests on the shoulders of the school children
and it is our responsibility to prepare them
to be the best in the world.
Mindfulnesspracticeisatime-honored
tradition that has been practiced by millions
of practitioners for thousands of years, in
the final few decades, there has been a
developing body of research revealing,
scientifically the benefits yoga and
meditation.
RESEARCH ABOUT STRESS IN
SCHOOL COLLAGE CHILDREN IN
MODERN DAY.
Kids today are certainly more stressed
out than their parents likely realize. One in
five kids said they worried a good deal or a
great deal about things going on in their
lives. It is a well-known fact that over 30
percent students admitted to such tension-
related symptoms as difficulty in sleeping,
as per the American Psychological
Association’s annual study on stress in
America. However, the same report
observed in their study that just eight
percent of parents were cognizant that their
children experienced any stress at all.
ANOTHER RESEARCH RESULTS
ABOUT MINDFULNESS &
MEDITATION IN SCHOOLS
A study conducted at University of
California, Los Angeles found 2nd and 3rd
class students who practiced healthy
meditation techniques for half an hour
twice a week for eight weeks exhibited
improved behavior and they even scored
higher on tests involving memory, attention
and focus than the non-meditators.
BENEFITS OF MINDFULNESS &
ACTIVE MEDITATION FOR
TEACHERS
Surveys held demonstrate that
mindfulness in schools can fight burnout in
teachers and reduce strain and increase
happiness in students. Practicing
mindfulness has also been related to
increased brain activity in the areas
associated with positive emotions.
Here Are Few Benefits Of Mindfulness
& Active Meditation For Children
•• Improve student’s concentration
•• Enhance focus, Strengthen memory
•• Develop mental harmony & improve
healthy relationships
•• Put in a lifelong method to cut tension
•• Create a quiet time during the daylight
•• Recharge the students’ mind
•• Offer staff the time to experience
relaxation
•• Lower anxiety around exam time
•• Improve a child’s power to pay attention
•• Mindful meditation at school gives
children tools for emotional reflection
•• Mindfulness is said to help with focus,
attention, calming the emotions
•• Meditation helps kids chill out, reduce
impulsivity and act brilliantly.

The Facade and The Core
H
ave you seen an orange? Of
course, you have ! It appears to
have a protective outer layer
and soft juicy pulp on the
inside , isn’t it ? What about an apple ? Well
it’s outer covering isn’t so thick and it’s
insides, though stronger than that of an
orange, are still pretty mushy. Now in
complete contrast to these two , there’s the
coconut. Real mean hard shell on the
outside , a softer yet thicker on the inner
side and really soft and moist at the core.
Each one so different from the other and
still carrying their own nutritional benefits.
They bring with them their own dietary
values to the food palate. We like each one
of them for their unique taste. Their color
appeal. Their very own tang and flavor. We
accept them as gifts of nature. As organic.
As a whole.
People too come in various colors of
temperament. Different flavors of
sensibilities. Just like the orange there are
people who are rough and thick on the
outside but soft and delicate on the inside.
Like the apple , there might be people we
know who are dense on the inside but
really delicate and transparent on the
surface. And some are of course really
tough and solid on the outside, but as you
get to know them better , you will find that
they are really very sensitive at the core.
The outer covering is just a protective layer
. A layer they might have developed to
safeguard their vulnerability. A veneer that
they have covered their persona with. This
covering weathers the storm of personal
insecurities , relationship abuse and social
judgment . We all wear masks to face
different situations and different people.
Often we will find people saying , “ I
have nothing to hide. “ . Really ? Don’t we
all have flaws? Don’t we have fears? Don’t
we all try to cover up our weaker features
with a little bit of a facade? But these little
deviations do not make us a bad person. If
we try to cover or alter a few of our
shortcomings , that may not be such a bad
idea after all . It’s perfectly normal to want
to project our best version no matter where
weare.Wewantpeopletolikeuseverywhere
we go. However in order to do this, we must
first recognize our faults . And then learn
how to diminish them or change them into
positive attributes.
We can apply this practice to our
OUTER IMAGE . Our physical image is
easy to project once we learn how to cover
up our flaws and highlight our better
looking features. Altering old habits of
communication will take us a long way in
maintaining relationships at all levels. They
say, “ Manners maketh a man “. Sure enough
etiquettes and body language when pleasing
to the eye , make a person welcome in every
circle. To enhance our outer image , the
mantra is simple - (OLAA) ‘Observe,
Learn, Adopt and Adapt ‘
Our INNER IMAGE is more of a
delicate matter. Taking a deeper look into
our psyche and some concentrated effort,
we can let go of old redundant thoughts ,
beliefs and habits thus improving our
emotional image. A little bit of new
education and fresh learning at every step
of our life path helps keep our mental image
sharp and active. Similarly , a healthy mix
of well directed actions and faith in the
divine plan , raises the quotient of our
spiritual image . These aspects may not be
as tangible as the outer image but
nevertheless are an important chunk of our
personality makeup. Like a refreshing fruit ,
our core may be different from our outer
shell. But it cannot be rotten. Because
eventually the rot within will catch up with
our shell covering , making it appear ugly.
Things from the inside have a way of oozing
out of the surface sooner or later. Therefore
it’s important to strengthen the core. If
anything must ooze out, let it be the
sweetness within. Let it be the fragrance of
our inner bloom. Let the brilliance from
within shine through the facade.
In this way we can become whole and
complete - THAT will be our Authentic
TRUE SELF ! Let’s Be Beautiful , Inside –
Out !
So what is your smokescreen? What is
it that you are projecting to the world? And
more importantly, what is it that you are
hiding from the yourself and from others ?
Are you ready to be your AUTHENTIC
YOU ?

A Womans Worth
She gave life. She is a wife.
She is a mother and she is a friend.
She is a sister a survivor to the end.
Appreciate her, we don't dare.
Ask her worries, we don't care.
Wipe away her tears, they are invisible as air.
She works cooks and clean.
She laughs, helps comfort, and hides her pain.
When you struggle she pulls you through
All this is she and what do we do?
Complain and create a mess.
Provide stress and leave her feeling depressed..
Push her away and ignore her advice.
Tell her she is nothing without thinking twice.
She was raped tortured and abused.
Told she was nothing and would always be used just for
pleasure forget her pain.
She swallows her pride, put her feelings aside.
Does as you need in order for you to be free.
Ignores your ignorance and tolerates your flaws.
You call her Bitch, Slut, Hoe and Tramp
She answers with pride dignity and a complete loss of self.
You call her nothing.
I call her Strong, Smart, Sensual, Caring, Giving,
Surviving, Tolerant and powerful
I call her WOMAN!

ENLIGHTENING HOLI
The Colors Of Life
N
ature always wears the colors
of the Spirit. “Dipped in the
hues of Love trust”, the
wonderful festival of HOLI is
meant to express the feelings with the
colors of fondness, warmth tenderness.
It’s an apt time to break Ice, renew
relationships link ourselves with our
dear ones with a splash of joyful colors.
HOLI being one of the most
enlightening colorful festival celebrated
in India also signifies the age old traditional
practices from the time immemorial,
highlighting the importance of the legend
of Prahlad his father Hiranyakashap the
devil. Hiranyakashap wanted everyone to
only worship him, whereas his own son
defied him devotionally prayed to Lord
Vishnu, which offended him very much so
he asked his sister HOLIKA , who had a
boon to enter the fire scathless to probe
into the blazing fire with Prahlad in his lap.
Prahlad kept reciting the name of Lord
Narayana at all times he was protected
blessed by the Lord therefore coming out
of the fire completely safe sound.
Whereas Holika forgetting that the boon
would work only if she enters the fire alone,
had to pay a big price by getting burnt in the
process loosing her life.
Thus, Holi originated its name from
Holika since then is celebrated in India as
a festival of victory of Good over Evil. Since
then, it’s been a tradition to burn “HOLIKA”
people restore their gratefulness to the
FIRE GOD – “AGNI DEVTA” by
contributing grams, trunks Stalks from
the harvest with great humbleness.
The next morning of Holi is filled with
a Colorful breeze enclosed with amazing
joy happiness all around. A great moment
to restore old grievances commence a
new beginning of a gratifying bond
connection with each other.
Folks in the neighborhood, love to play
splatter each other with colors, children
throw water filled balloons on each other.
People dance to the beats of Dholaks sing
traditional folk songs get in the state of
excitement vibrancy with the tradition of
consuming Bhang as well.
Evenings are generally spent reciting
Kirtans Bhajans making the moments
more nostalgic memorable.
The significance of Colors during Holi
brings with it an expression of Faith Belief
that life can be lived with contrastive
diversified charisma magnetism yet be
united in every sense.
The spectrum of colors as much wide
as it can be, but has originated from a single
source of light that is the true connect
that binds us all together with Universal
Love Brotherhood.

ANUMEHTA
The third IISHMA awards held on
February 19, 2016, introduced a panel
discussion for the wellness industry and
corporates alike, which enabled them to
create a healthy platform to discuss their
expectations and services of each other.
Wellness industry experts from
various fields explained how they could
provide corporates with good physical and
mental health by reducing their stress,
thus providing for a better, happier and
healthier quality of life. This would be
done using different tools to shift the
mindset caught in web of numbers, logic,
analysis, productivity and success.
The panel also discussed the
challenges in merging the two
industries and employing the
wellness industry for corporates in
general.
“Personal transformation” is about
being transparent, honest and authentic,
CORPORATE CHALLENGES AT
ISHMA AWARDS-2016
which can make some people uncomfortable and vulnerable. People
may not like the tag of “not okay” or “need to change” attached to
their self–image, especially in the workplace.
Money allotted by companies for wellness may be limited due
to lack of understanding, and the prioritization of their time and
funds for other seemingly more important activities.
Corporates will need a thorough understanding of the wellness
industry to remove their misgivings about the field. Their
understanding will have to answer the following questions -
How can the wellness industry help the corporate sector
benefit?
How do they differentiate between authentic and inauthentic
wellness trainers?
Basically, why should they hire a wellness expert in the first
place?
Corporate sector may need consistent measurable results
showcased with case studies and testimonials, even in the field of
wellness where everything is not measurable.
Corporate may not have any trust in these sciences.
Building the bridge over these two diverse ideologies with a
foundation of awareness and acceptance, followed by trust is only
when these two industries can mutually benefit each other.

1 – To meet the Top Bureaucrats or the
people in authority of the organization to have
a complete understanding of their current

Holistic consultant to resolve the matters.
2 – To thoroughly understand the need
requirements of their challenges design a
specific appropriate module to enhance

3- Execution of a robust action follow

For every organization one of the key assets is its resources. In
this competitive world the safety well being of its resources is
critical for the organization. Most of the organizations cover them
under various health schemes. If there is proper awareness in the
organisations for preventive health care life would be much more
easy for employees and employers .With alarming incidents of
people (including people below 30 years) getting stress related
break–downs or other diseases like Blood Pressure, Diabetes,
Spondylitis and Cancer, it is imperative that we re–look at the way
we consider Preventive Health
Check–ups.
Most of the organizations make annual health check–ups
mandatory only for their personnel who are 35+ years or for those
who already have been diagnosed with some disease.
Soit is suggested that Corporates need to ensure preventive
health care for a stress free workplace .
PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE

exclusive interview they reveal a few
interesting facts about them and their

Shutterbugs Images’ all set to

What is it that triggered your interest in
the entertainment industry?
We can’t deny that like every other
youngster we too were drawn towards the
entertainment industry specifically
Bollywood. Unlike many others, we never
thought of becoming actors but instead
dreamt of capturing the stars through our
lenses. Newspapers were the best platform
for our dreams to come true. Hence we both
started pursuing our individual careers in
the Newspaper industry. Fortunately our
hard work and talent was recognized pretty
soon and we got the chance to work with
some of the most popular entertainment
dailies such as Bombay Times/Times Of
India, DNA/After Hrs and Indian edition of
Internationally acclaimed entertainment
celebrity Magazine ‘PEOPLE’ by Outlook
Group India.
What drew you towards forming
Shutterbugs Images?
After working with the newspaper
industry for almost a decade and a half we
took a collective decision of forming
Shutterbugs Images. We felt that there was a
need of expanding our horizon and explore
the other aspects of photography such as
Architecture Interior, Food Hospitality,
Corporate, Products apart from Editorial
Lifestyle. Also our zeal to turn Entrepreneurs
was backed by the enriching experience
which we had gained while working for
such renowned publications. So what better
way to start a venture around our biggest
passion - Photography.
What does Shutterbugs Images offer?
We offer specialized photography
services for publications, such as award
ceremonies, lifestyle customized
corporate photo shoots, products
photography, live events, fashion shows.
Apart from the photography we also cater
high quality audio-visuals for all the above
mentioned shoots.

R
ohan Kantak at a young age of 26
has led his team for quite a few
short films that have garnered
awards and appreciation alike in
many short film festivals and competitions.
The young and dynamic short film director
and editor has worked on many prestigious
projects like movies Wedding Pullav,
Alibaug Bypass and Avadhra; TV show
Simply Baatein with Raveena; Fortune Rice
and Nature Basket ads, amongst many
others. In conversation with Rohan Kantak.
What is it that triggered your interest in
the entertainment industry?
I was always inclined towards the
entertainment industry and more than
studies what captured my interest were the
extra-curricular activities biasing towards
drama and theatre. The appreciation and
support from my parents further motivated
me to think about it a little seriously. That’s
when I decided to do a course in ZIMA
institute and shifted vase to Mumbai from
Nashik.
What drew you specifically towards
Direction?
While studying at ZIMA, we got a lot of
opportunities to explore the various facets
of Cinema making, both in front and behind
the camera. Editing was once aspect that I
The talent behind many award
winning short films..!
thoroughly enjoyed and kept experimenting
with it. I enjoyed in front of the camera and
was equally good at reigning the team as a
director for our ZIMA projects. I absolutely
loved every moment spent there creating
some crazy video projects.
When did this passion of yours take the
professional turn?
the simple fact that a small short film,
documentary created by someone,
somewhere in the world can affect millions
around the world, blew my mind off. I was
enchanted by the power of cinema, the power
of creating something beautiful and
meaningful that can touch the hearts and
souls of people around the globe irrespective
of their geographical or social origin. That’s
when it struck that ‘Yes, this is my calling,
this is what I want to do all my life.’
Tell us something about your first short
film as a Director ‘Jo Je Vancheel’ that has
garnered a lot appreciation and accolades?
In today’s time where the Swachh Bharat
Abhiyan has moved the nation, we came up
with an idea of making movie on river
Godavari and how with every passing day its
getting contaminated. And this increases
especially during Kumbh-mela. Since I hail
from Nashik this was a cause very close to
me and we are glad that so many people
have appreciated out efforts and loved the
short film. From celebrities to various
authorities have backed our movie and
helped us spread the message.
How did you get the quirky idea for a
short film like ‘Popat’ that won the title of
‘The Best Film’ in 48 hours Film Festival?
It was a crazy brainstorming session
going on with ideas pouring in from
everyone but somehow we weren’t satisfied
and since we just had 48 hours in hand to
conceptualize, execute, shoot and edit and
submit it was a nerve wrecking time for all
of us. In the wee hours of the morning a
small idea of a race of the sperms came to
one of the group members, and we
developed it into a concept. The film has an
equal balance of curiosity to understand the
events happening along with a comic angel
to it. We won an award and got a lot of
appreciation for the film.
Which have been your most popular
loved short films?
By far our short films - Jo Je Vancheel,
Nawaz and Popat have been the most
popular most and have won quite a few
awards in many short film festivals.
Your favourite short film till date?
I love all the short films we have made
including the amateur ones that we made
during our ZIMA days, as behind each one
of them goes a lot of hard work of the entire
team. Each one of is special and very close
to my heart.
Future plans?
There are quite a few short films that
we are working on and in next couple of
months we might be ready with a few of
these short films.

Team owner Anita Hassanandani
seems to be very pleased with the players’
commitment, commenting on her team’s
preparation, she says, “We all have been
practicing very hard and some of our team
members are coming to practice after 15-16
hrs of shooting. I am sure if we play to our
ability, we can win the trophy this time
round”.
The players even showcased some of
their on-field skills for the media at the
event which left captain Barkha Bisht
impressed, “The team is playing well
together and the fact that it’s almost the
same team as last season, we are more like
family and are really looking forward to
giving our best. This season we have three
more members Karan Patel, Alok and
Sangram to our family, we are the only team
that hasn’t faced any shuffling. That I think
is the reason we are working so well together
as a team”
Co-owner Shiv Pandit echoes his
captain’s sentiment, “We are by far the most
unique combo of actors who have had an
amazing connect with the audience. I think
Chandigarh Cubs are by far the most highly
recalled team”

Missing People is an initiative of people from various walks
of society. We have got together to address with the altruistic
motive of helping reunite missing people with their families. A
child may be lost and he may not find the way back home. An
adult with mental health issues may be lost and there is no way
he or she will be able to find his/her way back to their families.
They languish and suffer while their families grieve and search
frantically. Our mission is to help such lost children or adults
reunite with their families.
We are gratified that eminent personalities have lent their
support and backing for this project. Among those we count
fortunate to have as our initiators are Vasant Dhoble - Asstt.
Commissioner of Police (Rtd.) Mumbai Police, Agnelorajesh
Athaide - CMD of St Angelos Global Ventures and Ajay

In every field of work, you will find broadly two categories of people. ~One who are efficient, genuine and who operate out of integrity. ~Two who lack integrity and genuineness People from the first category are generally motivated by their passion towards the work and have holistic view of how what they do benefits them as well as others. People from the second category are generally motivated by their personal gains even if they are at the cost of others. Like all fields you will find these categories of people even in the field of healing and training. The first category of people inspire confidence in these fields and the second one bring bad name to the field. On top of this, today bad news seems to travel faster and has more retention in our memory. It is for this reason, that it becomes important to highlight and reward the good work done by those in the first category. This act of highlighting and rewarding good work helps us spread the word about those healers and therapists that we know are doing good work thereby instilling more confidence in this field and encouraging normal people to seek help from these experts One of the primary motives behind bliss equity was to do so by publishing articles and interviews of such experts. This month we took a major step in this direction by associating with ISHMA (International Spiritual & Hindu Mythology Awareness World Network) for the 3rd annual ISHMA Awards to recognize and honour those Individuals, Leaders and Organizations which have been spearheading the work of creating Spiritual Awareness by way of their practices, therapies and trainings. In this edition of bliss equity you will find the highlights of the award function along with the articles of those who were the recipients of these awards. Though March is the month of the festival of colours “Holi”, we have had a very colourful month of February. Looking forward to contribute towards making this world a more colourful place to live. Angel Tarot card reader/teacher, Animal communicator, past life therapist, Reiki Master. T he word ‘Gratitude’, as interpreted by the English Webster's dictionary, means 'readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness'. Gratitude is a simple word , yet completely fulfilling. Our Gratitude (thankfulness), begins with the Divine. The Divine who created us, who shapes our lives, the Divine within each of us. Today, in this following meditation, let's share and spread the gift of 'Gratitude', within our very being, sending it to the environment all around us. 1. Begin by closing your eyes and relaxing. 2. Breathe in 3 times and let go all worries to heaven. Relax your muscles. Let go. Know that there is a Light up there taking care of all. 3. You may relax with your head on a couch or lie down. Now call upon God-whoever ,you may have faith in, respected Divine Masters and your Guardian Angels to be with you. 4. As you do so, feel the gentle embrace of the Divine light all around you, shielding you in a vibrant cocoon of self-love and joy. 5. Now, in your mind repeat 3 times or more: a) I am Grateful to the Divine b) I am Grateful for who I am. c)IacceptmyselfwithLoveandGratitude to self. d) My every cell is filled with Self-love and Gratitude and I am radiating it out into the Universe. e).I am grateful for every situation in my life. I am .I am. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. 6. As you repeat these Affirmations in your mind, a sense of peace prevails and illuminates your being. You begin to feel a sense of Gratitude towards self, for loving yourself so much and for the person that you are. 7. Allow this light of Gratitude to fill your entire being-every cell, tissue, organ, muscle, bone-every part of your body. You may give this light of Gratitude, a colour ,if you will. 8. Breathe it in. Soak it in. Feel harmony towards self and the world around. 9. Now, you may send it to every person, place, situation ,event for allowing you to grow and learn so much. For allowing you to become the strong human that you are today. For choosing you, so you may realize the blessings of Love. 10. With complete Gratitude in Your heart and body, thank Divine, Masters and your Guardian Angels for everything. Remember, there's always a wonderful purpose behind every act-a Divine design ,made especially for you. 11. Thanking God for all the Love, inhale peace, joy, contentment and Gratitude. 12. You may rub your palms and open your eyes, when you will, ending with 'Thank You-Thank You- Thank You'. May you all live a joyous, blessed life filled with more and more reasons to be in Gratitude, every day. DISCLAIMER: The above meditation is a relaxing/healing technique. I hold no responsibility for anyone trying it out.
  • 9. 7 • B E - March 2016 The Birth of Crystals TARMINDER MANCHANDA terrymanchanda@yahoo.co.in Mob-9870040769 I n Indian mythology, particularly the Puranas, it is written that the demon King Bali who had achieved his powers because of his good deeds, once vanquished all the Gods and Demi-Gods. This angered them and Lord Indra then disguised himself as a Brahmin priest to teach Bali a lesson. Indra, in disguise, went to Bali and asked for alms. Bali agreed and asked the Brahmin what he wanted. Indra told Bali to give himself up to be sacrificed in the form of a buffalow. Bali agreed to this and was sacrificed. Because Bali offered his body to the Brahmin priest (Indra) for a noble deed, he became pure and his body was converted into nine gems of eighty four types. The story says that wherever the pieces of his body fell, gems related to that part of the body were created. Wherever his bones fell on earth, mines of Diamonds were created. Wherever his teeth fell, Pearls were created. His blood which had evaporated by the sun fell into a river and Rubies were created. His bile was carried by the king of snakes Vasuki, and in a battle with the eagle God Garuda it dropped to the earth and emeralds were created. His eyes fell down to the earth and Blue Sapphires were created. His skin fell on the Himalayas and became yellow and White Sapphires. His sound ,which was a roar, turned into Cats Eye. His arms and the other parts of his body turned into other precious and semi precious stones. His semen turned into Hessonite, or Cinnamon stone, aka Garnets. His intestines became Coral. His fat became Quartz. The rest of his body turned into Agates. The story goes on to say that the nine planets then decided to distribute these stones amongst themselves. Sun selected Ruby Moon selected Pearls Mars selected Coral Mercury selected Emerald Jupiter selected Yellow sapphire Venus selected Diamond Saturn selected Blue Sapphire Rahu selected Hessonite Ketu selected Cats Eye. The scripture on Healing called the Annubhut Yogmala lists these stones and states that they should be used to cure diseases related to the parts of the sacrificed body of Bali. The list of 84 stones, besides the gem stones are mentioned by their Hindi names. They include Amethyst, Amber, Aquamarine, Agate, Bloodstone, Carnelian, Citrine, Epidote,Flint, Garnet, Goldstone, Jade, Lodestone, Lapis Lazuli, Malachite, Moonstone, Moss Agate, Onyx, Opal, Peridot, Quartz, Spinel, Tigers Eye, Topaz, Tourmaline, Turquoise and Zircon. The healing power of stones is not just a superstition but in fact a cure that was widely used in all parts of the world. They would use stones to ingest in powder form or oxides. They would create amulets and talismans to be worn and elixirs which they could drink. These days healers who work with crystal stones prescribe a combination of stones which can be carried or worn to effect a cure. A simple way to find the right stone for any issue is to relate it to the chakra, the organs or parts of the body connected to a particular chakra and the colour of that particular chakra. There are a number of stones that are used according to the properties of that particular stone irrespective of their colour. To learn more about crystals and their healing powers, you are welcome to attend my workshops. I have a wide range of crystals you can buy from my centre Serenity Crystals.

Sometimes it seems that we have been sidetracked and have lost sight of our true destination. For the sake of attaining the Self develop leading to the Truth there is a need to focus and simplify terms as blame, guilt, fault. However to experience the Self we must follow a path. Even to achieve something in daily life, we have to work for it. We cannot satisfy our appetite merely by reading the recipe, to satisfy there is a need to collect ingredients of food, cook it and we have to eat. In the same way to have an authentic inner experience we have to follow a path. Let it be the Natural Path. It is one that we can do in our own world, without abandoning our family, our work, or our daily activities. A short story of Lord Buddha while he was practicing his Sadhna. One day two musicians pass by the place where he was sitting. One was saying to the other, "Do not tighten the strings of your instrument too much or they will break. Do not keep them loose too or they will produce no sound at all. Follow the Middle path." These words hit Lord Buddha with great force. Immediately, he gave up his severe Sadhna and began to follow an easy and natural one. Being on this natural path the Self is seen. It brings inner experience, removes worries, our understanding of internal and external things become sharper. And Meditation is a natural Sadhna. It's Universal. Follow the Road Map to the Divine, be patient and committed. Success is Your Way. A Complete Path. Embark on.

  • 16. 14 • B E - March 2016 Cancer O n hearing the word “cancer’ the first belief that comes to mind “it is like death sentence being pronounced to someone for which there is no recourse”. Thus one feels that there is a intense fight with a very strong and enemy which is likely to destroy one’s life physically, mentally and socially ultimately. Cancer literally means abnormal multiplication and non-differentiation of cells, which leads to formation of malignant tumors; these may invade other parts of the body. However there are certain benign tumors that donotinvadeandthusdonotspreadthroughout the body. There are over hundred different known cancers that affect human beings. In the natural course human anatomy and physiology the cell division (formation), maturation, growth, differentiation and death are controlled and structured this is called homeostasis. Incancerousstatethishomeostasis is lost, leading to continuous unstructured formationofuselessandmature/immaturecells. As per the present convention this can also be termed as a MISTAKE of the human body, and therebytheconventionalmodeoftreatmentisto restrict and destroy this unstructured growth of cells through the drugs (chemotherapy), radiationand/orsurgery.META-Healthbelieves ‘that body has not made a ‘MISTAKE’. META- Health has a totally different point of view for genesis and treatment of cancer. To understand the above let us understand the human brain The human brain has 4 brain layers; each has got a specific function to perform which are as follows: • Brain stem: • Cerebellum: • Medulla: • Cortex: Theconflictwillfallonaspecificbrainlayer and will be addressed by only one organ in that brain layer which is best suited to resolve the conflict. For example lungs and more precisely the lung alveoli, which are responsible for oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange, are linked to death fight conflict which can be triggered by a life threatening situation e.g. war. A lot of people after fear of death conflict can develop lung cancer. Colon cancer, which commonest cancer in the United sates, is on rise since the year 2008, when the global meltdown stared. People had no choice but to swallow what had happened but they could not let go of what happenedtothem. Theyhadbeenputinavery shitty place without their fault. This led to increase in colon cancers. Researchers have found a correlation between experiencing loss and cancer. Since the global meltdown people have experienced various losses in life, which has created a massive loss of jobs, which in turn made, people lose their house and many relationships could not sustain this loss. People felt completely out of control. People, who did not go through actual job loss, lived in massive fear of losing one. Giant organizations crashed, manytoplevelemployeesofvariouscompanies committed suicide and left their families in the doom. This loss made them lose meaning of their life, which in turn triggered loss of hope. Many people displayed behavior where they did not want to live any more. Increase in: terrorism, break up of family units, divorces, number of women going out to work and putting children in day care, sexual abuse cases can create a loss of dignity self respect and loss of child which can in turn give rise onset of ovarian and testicular cancer. More so at times despite being stable in their jobs people are living in constant fear of losing their job. So they will try to please their boss and try be committed to their job will lead to high achieving people with very little happiness, self worth or confidence. They desperately want to fit in the system that they will not express their own feelings needs and emotions and will constantly think that it is their responsibility to keep their parents, siblings, spouses and children happy. All of the above led to increase the risk of cancer by three folds. This leads to emotional trauma and giving rise to highly unresolved anger. Our next generation will haveahigherincidenceofcancerasindividuals may have higher aspirations and low satisfaction levels; they are constantly striving to meet the demands placed by one. Would anybody like to live in this type of mechanical world? Recognition of the stressful event and correction of the emotional trauma attached to it, by changing perceptions and giving better coping mechanisms to the individual we can actually combat cancer. In other words we can say “(I) can-sir” be assertive and deal with the ANU MEHTA anu.metamedicine@gmail.com phone number - 9930898116 blog-AnuMehta.co.on stressful events, change my perception and be empowered to get out of the situation. This would be like ‘taking out the pride out of the word cancer.” As prevention is better than cure. We needtocreateawarenessatfamilyunits, school andorganizationallevelsbyreachingouttothe masses. Acceptance of the problem and action taken to rectify it with techniques like advanced clearing energetic (ACE), emotional freedom techniques (EFT), Nutri-energetics system (NES) and MATRIX imprinting help us not only to deal with cancers but to prevent the onset of disease. Case studies: Mrs X sent her child, her only emotional support to the hostel. She was divorced and was the only earning member in the family. Her mother suffered from dysthymia and her brother was a case of depression and had no job since ages. This made her realize that she is responsible for nurturing everybody including her business. She suffered losses in her business, which made her feel that she will not be able to nurture everyone as she wants. She suffered from bilateral breast cancer. She was treated with NES, ACE and EFT and had attended META-Health workshops. Within a month and a half she was perfectly fine. “Cancer is evil or destructive practice or phenomenon that is hard to contain or eradicate”.

  • 18. 16 • B E - March 2016 Fear Phobia PAULOMI PANDIT F ear is an inbuilt survival mechanism. Like other emotions, the intensity of fear can vary from mild to medium, or intense. Fear response, or the ‘fight-or-flight’ mechanism can be activated in our bodies whenever we sense danger or if we are confronted with something that seems potentially dangerous. However, many situations are simply perceived as being dangerous but in reality may not be dangerous. In other words, these are symbolic stressors which can activate fear response, which can be unnecessary at times. For example, a person may see a dog at a distance and get scared, starts sweating and trembling. Now this reaction is not needed since the dog is not causing any harm currently. (This reaction may be necessary only if the dog is trying to bite you). However sometimes fear can be useful as well. E.g. A person who can’t swim and feels scared to dive in a pool, ensures safety and takes precautions. However, fears become a reason for concern when they are persistent and disrupt our daily functioning. Now most of the times, our fears are due to certain associations – •• Past experiences: A girl may panic the moment it starts raining, because she was held up at a place for 2 days due to heavy rains. •• Learning: A child may observe his elder brother getting scared of lizards and reacting in a particular way. The child may pick it up, thinking this must be dangerous and eventually learn to feel scared. What is the difference between fears and phobias? In most cases for an outsider the fears may appear to be irrational, but the person who is experiencing the fear generally seems to have a rationale behind holding on to the fear. This is where from a therapeutic perspective phobia becomes different from fears. For most phobic responses even people who have the phobia understand that the phobia is irrational. People who have phobias may even know that what they feel has no specific reason, but they still feel petrified! Fear is when an individual sees a dog and gets nervous. One is said to have a phobia, when a person might not even enter a park because he might see a dog. In a way it is a very intense fear which the person knows is irrational. So what happens in the mind when we feel fear or phobia? We are aware that, stimulus creates response. What we need to know is that there is an internal world between stimulus and response. This internal world is unique to each of us and this determines the kind of response we give to the stimulus. That is why, not all of us are scared of dogs, snakes, lizards, etc. Let us take an example from a case: A woman jumped and screamed every time she saw a cockroach. She knew the cockroach couldn’t harm her, but she reacted that way automatically and felt very scared. During a therapy session (based on integration of Hypnotherapy & NLP), she realised that in her mind, the cockroach is enlarged and becomes as tall as a five storey building who is coming closer to eat her! Her response was appropriate for her imagination. However, this story in the internal world din’t serve her any purpose. Instead, it gave her an undesired response. Now, if the mind can create creepy stories in the internal world, it can also convert those into funny or pleasant ones. Since the fear / phobia response in most cases is a result of the internal story, as the story changes so does the response. And that is exactly how the therapy can help, i.e by helping the client change this internal story in a way in which it benefits the client.
  • 19. 17 • B E - March 2016 ABC Model REBT MISBA SHAH +91- 9930808473 R ational Emotive Behaviour therapy (REBT) is a very powerful and a useful model; not just in terms of therapy but also for day to day application and understanding life. It holds the premise that we are driven by our beliefs. The consequences of any event are not due to the event; it is due to the belief about that event which leads to making us act or feel in a certain way. To illustrate this, we will be using a simple ABC model developed by Dr. Albert Ellis. In this model: (‘A’) refers to Activating event which means whatever it is that started things off: a circumstance, another person’s behaviour or our own thoughts about something which has happened. (‘B’) refers to our beliefs. These beliefs can about ourselves, others, things, situation. Beliefs can be specific or generalised. (‘C’) refers to the consequence i.e our reaction to (A) in terms of both emotions and behaviours LET US TAKE AN EXAMPLE TO UNDERSTAND THIS: Say two boys have to make individual presentations in front of the same group. This will be the first presentation that either of them has ever made and both of them have prepared well. Yet the first boy at the time of presentation gets nervous, goes blank and his presentation goes for a toss. Whereas, the second boy is confident and presents effectively.. Both these boys were in exactly the same situations but their emotional and behavioural response was different. For both the boys the activating event was facing the audience. For the first boy the activating event triggered a belief that I am not capable and not good enough which lead to the feeling of nervousness and poor presentation. For the second boy the activating event triggered a belief that I am capable and good which leads to the feeling of confidence and effective presentation. Once we understand our behaviour through the ABC model, in order to create a positive change in our behaviour we can add a DE to the same. (‘D’) represents Disputing irrational beliefs (‘E’) represents creating Effective new belief Going back to the earlier example let us understand the application of D & E for the boy who got nervous. So if we were to dispute the original belief that I am not capable and not good in a way that we could break it along with creating an effective new belief that I am capable and good, the boy would now begin to feel confident which given the fact that he is well prepared will help him deliver effectively.
  • 20. 18 • B E - March 2016 Importance of Mental Health SUKESHI I n today’s world, so many services are available to us for every discomfort that we face. Tap not working? There is a plumber. Some problem with wiring? There’s an electrician. Similarly, something wrong with your health? There’s the doctor. In other words, in case of a physiological problem (whether minor ones like cough and cold which don’t go away through mere home remedies, or major health issues), we always look for professional help; this physical care not only extends to the diseases or discomforts but also on improving and modifying our physical appearance! The numbers of advertisement shown on our television about becoming fair with soaps and creams or becoming muscular with some pills are some of the many examples. Thus, we look after our physical comforts. However, do we care enough for our emotional and mental discomforts? Not really. We take medicines to heal our physiological problems and in most cases even pay incredible amount of money for these treatments. This is good, because it is important to have a healthy body! Nevertheless, we somehow fail to acknowledge our emotional and mental well-being. Why don’t we feel comfortable visiting a therapist in case of an emotional issue? What stops us from investing in self-help/self- growth/self-awareness programs? With the growing scientific research and evidence, it is clear that health includes not only physical, but also emotional and mental aspects of us, which constantly affect and influence our lives. What stops us from looking after our emotional and mental discomforts? LET US CHECK SOME OF THE COMMON RESPONSES FROM PEOPLE: ‘We may come across as losers if we go for such programs.’ Many say ‘How could we share our feelings/ personal issues with a stranger?’ or ‘I know it is important but people would label me as a crackpot or a nutcase’. Some say ‘If I need these courses or a therapist, maybe I am not good enough.’ Then there are these people who love to say ‘People are so biased but they need it, people should take up self-help courses it is always a good add on to your life! People really shouldacknowledge all this.’ My question, would you like to sign up for a performanceimprovementcourse?Answer: No I don’t think I need any performance improvement! Maybe! But, this makes me think of two things, either we believe that there is no scope of improving performance or we are being hypocritical by stating that people should enroll for such courses. Another example, on a similar line, some people say things like ‘my girlfriend needs to see a therapist you know, she keeps complaining about my behaviour and I so hate that.’ My question, since it is a relationship, do you think it will be more helpful if both of you see therapist, together? Boyfriend ‘She has all the issues and she complains, I don’t need any therapist!’ WHERE DO THESE RESPONSES COME FROM? They occur due to many misconceptions and pre-conceived notions about this field. Many come from the media, many due to lack of awareness and many due to the fear of unknown. In addition, our academics do not emphasize on the importance of mental health as much as it does on the physical health. Even though, many schools focus on value education which is very useful, physical health is given more importance. So all these factors put together complete the circle. Just like physical issues, emotional/ mental issues can have varied intensities. Every issue/problem is handled differently. Like, cold cough and fever will be of a different intensity compared to typhoid or TB which will be different from cancer. Similarly, emotional or mental issues are different in nature, aspects like stress, break ups, loss of a loved one, or various disorders like Anxiety disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Schizophrenia and so on need different course of action. The steps to be taken to overcome or handle any of the above mentioned problems, are tailor made for the individuals. With more awareness, people are beginning to open up to the idea of emotional & mental well-being. There is a positive trend, however, there are many more who still hesitate to acknowledge these aspects. I hope that with time, everyone would be able to overcome the hesitation, misconceptions or fear of accepting the importance of emotional and mental well-being.
  • 21. 19 • B E - March 2016 What is Hypnosis? NITIN SHAH +91- 9930808473 HYPNOSIS IS •• A state of focused attention •• When a person is in an auto pilot mode •• A process that shifts one’s awareness from outside to inside •• A type of negotiation with unconscious mind •• A process to bypassing critical filter of mind •• A state of hyper suggestibility All the above could be summarized as Hypnosis is a way to access & suggest to a person’s subconscious mind directly. SO HOW HYPNOSIS WORKS? In order to understand the process of hypnosis and how it works, one needs to understand the model of mind and the functions of the different parts of mind. THE CONSCIOUS MIND (10-12 %): Normally, you are only aware of the thought processes in your conscious mind. You consciously think over the problems that are right in front of you, consciously choose words as you speak, consciously try to remember where you left your keys. But in doing all these things, your conscious mind is working hand-in-hand with your subconscious mind •• It is like the CPU of a computer with current rules of life •• Its functions include thinking, finding logic, feeling, analyzing, deciding, controlling voluntary body movements •• The conscious mind exercises what we call will power. •• It is also the place of working memory (memory we use every day to function). THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND (88-90 %) Itistheunconsciouspartofyourmindthat does your “behind the scenes” thinking. Your subconscious mind accesses the vast reservoir of information that lets you solve problems, construct sentences or locate your keys. It puts together plans and ideas and runs them by your conscious mind. When a new idea comes to you out of the blue, it’s because you already thought through the process unconsciously. Your subconscious also takes care of all the stuff you do automatically. It controls all of the autonomic processes that you don’t have to think about – the heart rate, the blood pressure, tissue growth, cell regeneration, the immune system and so on. It’s where our thoughts, memories and accumulated experience reside. It controls our emotions, our habits and our responses to the world. You don’t actively work through the steps of breathing minute to minute – your subconscious mind does that. You don’t think through every little thing you do while driving a car – a lot of the small stuff is thought out in your subconscious mind. The vast majority of things that we do are unconscious, which we can be grateful for – if you had to consciously think about every singlethingyoudid, youwouldn’tdoanything. However, it can lead us astray. Most problems are things that we’ve learned how to do at an unconscious level in an unhelpful way. •• It can be compared to the hard disk of a computer •• Basicfunctionincludesstoringinformation andcontrollinginvoluntarybodyfunctions o Divided in two parts:  Modern Memory (All current life experiences)  Primitive Mind (All instincts that a person is born with) CRITICAL FILTER The critical filter contains our beliefs, programming / conditioning & is responsible for the inhibitory process. Itliespartlyintheconsciousandpartlyin the subconscious areas of your mind. The function of the critical mind is that of a gatekeeper who controls the flow of information from the conscious to the subconscious. The information flowing into the conscious mind is evaluated here and the decision is then made whether to accept or rejectthatinput.Iftheinformationisaccepted, itisimmediatelypassedontothesubconscious mind for long-term storage. If the information isnotaccepted, itiseitherrejectedimmediately or vented later during sleep in the dream state. THE WAY TO GET TO THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND AND BYPASS THE CRITICAL FILTER IS: The only way a real change can take place is to get the new programming into our subconscious mind. 1. Through our memories, habits, and emotions. •• o Memories are only created through experience and you may need many positive experiences to diminish the effects the negative experience. This could take a long time to create. •• o Habits require willpower and time in order to become habits. •• o Emotions either happen randomly or require changing the way you think about a situation and that can be enormously difficult to do and also take time. 2. Through hypnosis. WHAT DOES HYPNOSIS DO? Hypnosis works by updating the unconscious / subconscious mind with new and more helpful information, like reprogramming a computer. Hypnosis is a much easier way to bypass the critical filter. Under hypnosis, the critical filter goes to sleep for a while. The Conscious Mindstaysawake, andcanstillmakedecisions. But now you’re in control while your subconscious is receptive to any suggestion that your conscious mind wants to let in.

Can Mindfulness & Meditation Benefit School Childrens ? Mindfulness & Meditation Should Be Introduced To Primary School Teachers? Introducing Mindfulness & Meditation To Primary School Childrens In India We come to recognize there are many schools in India, which are low performing schools. It is not that these children are unable to read; it is that very frequently they are unable to sort information and to concentrate due to untrained minds and overstimulation. The correct usage of yoga and meditation can sharpen their intelligence, provide increased mental flexibility, creativity, increased focus, and increase the receptive capacity of their brain. A Vision of Shiva Girish, founder of the Satya Shivam Sundram for Yoga and Meditation & Stress reduction programs for modern india, We like to inaugurate the practice of Mindfulness & Active Meditation Programs For Schools, Collage Children s In India, Here we will instruct youngsters how to integrate academic resources and apply them to their utmost benefits through yoga and meditation. There are many creative ways of bringing meditation into your school. Shiva empowers educators with tools they can bring into the classroom, into the staff training’s, and with parents and volunteers, to make make mindfulness and meditation interesting and engaging for children. The school administration can employ this opportunity to invite and get in touch with parents to utilize in home life, to offer as public workshops for families, to teach the staff to integrate within the classroom, and as workshops to help staff grow so they can bring more to the classroom. MINDFULNESS & MEDITATION BENEFIT SCHOOL CHILDRENS The creation of great future of India rests on the shoulders of the school children and it is our responsibility to prepare them to be the best in the world. Mindfulnesspracticeisatime-honored tradition that has been practiced by millions of practitioners for thousands of years, in the final few decades, there has been a developing body of research revealing, scientifically the benefits yoga and meditation. RESEARCH ABOUT STRESS IN SCHOOL COLLAGE CHILDREN IN MODERN DAY. Kids today are certainly more stressed out than their parents likely realize. One in five kids said they worried a good deal or a great deal about things going on in their lives. It is a well-known fact that over 30 percent students admitted to such tension- related symptoms as difficulty in sleeping, as per the American Psychological Association’s annual study on stress in America. However, the same report observed in their study that just eight percent of parents were cognizant that their children experienced any stress at all. ANOTHER RESEARCH RESULTS ABOUT MINDFULNESS & MEDITATION IN SCHOOLS A study conducted at University of California, Los Angeles found 2nd and 3rd class students who practiced healthy meditation techniques for half an hour twice a week for eight weeks exhibited improved behavior and they even scored higher on tests involving memory, attention and focus than the non-meditators. BENEFITS OF MINDFULNESS & ACTIVE MEDITATION FOR TEACHERS Surveys held demonstrate that mindfulness in schools can fight burnout in teachers and reduce strain and increase happiness in students. Practicing mindfulness has also been related to increased brain activity in the areas associated with positive emotions. Here Are Few Benefits Of Mindfulness & Active Meditation For Children •• Improve student’s concentration •• Enhance focus, Strengthen memory •• Develop mental harmony & improve healthy relationships •• Put in a lifelong method to cut tension •• Create a quiet time during the daylight •• Recharge the students’ mind •• Offer staff the time to experience relaxation •• Lower anxiety around exam time •• Improve a child’s power to pay attention •• Mindful meditation at school gives children tools for emotional reflection •• Mindfulness is said to help with focus, attention, calming the emotions •• Meditation helps kids chill out, reduce impulsivity and act brilliantly.
  • 23. 21 • B E - March 2016 The Facade and The Core H ave you seen an orange? Of course, you have ! It appears to have a protective outer layer and soft juicy pulp on the inside , isn’t it ? What about an apple ? Well it’s outer covering isn’t so thick and it’s insides, though stronger than that of an orange, are still pretty mushy. Now in complete contrast to these two , there’s the coconut. Real mean hard shell on the outside , a softer yet thicker on the inner side and really soft and moist at the core. Each one so different from the other and still carrying their own nutritional benefits. They bring with them their own dietary values to the food palate. We like each one of them for their unique taste. Their color appeal. Their very own tang and flavor. We accept them as gifts of nature. As organic. As a whole. People too come in various colors of temperament. Different flavors of sensibilities. Just like the orange there are people who are rough and thick on the outside but soft and delicate on the inside. Like the apple , there might be people we know who are dense on the inside but really delicate and transparent on the surface. And some are of course really tough and solid on the outside, but as you get to know them better , you will find that they are really very sensitive at the core. The outer covering is just a protective layer . A layer they might have developed to safeguard their vulnerability. A veneer that they have covered their persona with. This covering weathers the storm of personal insecurities , relationship abuse and social judgment . We all wear masks to face different situations and different people. Often we will find people saying , “ I have nothing to hide. “ . Really ? Don’t we all have flaws? Don’t we have fears? Don’t we all try to cover up our weaker features with a little bit of a facade? But these little deviations do not make us a bad person. If we try to cover or alter a few of our shortcomings , that may not be such a bad idea after all . It’s perfectly normal to want to project our best version no matter where weare.Wewantpeopletolikeuseverywhere we go. However in order to do this, we must first recognize our faults . And then learn how to diminish them or change them into positive attributes. We can apply this practice to our OUTER IMAGE . Our physical image is easy to project once we learn how to cover up our flaws and highlight our better looking features. Altering old habits of communication will take us a long way in maintaining relationships at all levels. They say, “ Manners maketh a man “. Sure enough etiquettes and body language when pleasing to the eye , make a person welcome in every circle. To enhance our outer image , the mantra is simple - (OLAA) ‘Observe, Learn, Adopt and Adapt ‘ Our INNER IMAGE is more of a delicate matter. Taking a deeper look into our psyche and some concentrated effort, we can let go of old redundant thoughts , beliefs and habits thus improving our emotional image. A little bit of new education and fresh learning at every step of our life path helps keep our mental image sharp and active. Similarly , a healthy mix of well directed actions and faith in the divine plan , raises the quotient of our spiritual image . These aspects may not be as tangible as the outer image but nevertheless are an important chunk of our personality makeup. Like a refreshing fruit , our core may be different from our outer shell. But it cannot be rotten. Because eventually the rot within will catch up with our shell covering , making it appear ugly. Things from the inside have a way of oozing out of the surface sooner or later. Therefore it’s important to strengthen the core. If anything must ooze out, let it be the sweetness within. Let it be the fragrance of our inner bloom. Let the brilliance from within shine through the facade. In this way we can become whole and complete - THAT will be our Authentic TRUE SELF ! Let’s Be Beautiful , Inside – Out ! So what is your smokescreen? What is it that you are projecting to the world? And more importantly, what is it that you are hiding from the yourself and from others ? Are you ready to be your AUTHENTIC YOU ? It’s an apt time to break Ice, renew relationships link ourselves with our dear ones with a splash of joyful colors. HOLI being one of the most enlightening colorful festival celebrated in India also signifies the age old traditional practices from the time immemorial, highlighting the importance of the legend of Prahlad his father Hiranyakashap the devil. Hiranyakashap wanted everyone to only worship him, whereas his own son defied him devotionally prayed to Lord Vishnu, which offended him very much so he asked his sister HOLIKA , who had a boon to enter the fire scathless to probe into the blazing fire with Prahlad in his lap. Prahlad kept reciting the name of Lord Narayana at all times he was protected blessed by the Lord therefore coming out of the fire completely safe sound. Whereas Holika forgetting that the boon would work only if she enters the fire alone, had to pay a big price by getting burnt in the process loosing her life. Thus, Holi originated its name from Holika since then is celebrated in India as a festival of victory of Good over Evil. Since then, it’s been a tradition to burn “HOLIKA” people restore their gratefulness to the FIRE GOD – “AGNI DEVTA” by contributing grams, trunks Stalks from the harvest with great humbleness. The next morning of Holi is filled with a Colorful breeze enclosed with amazing joy happiness all around. • 32. 30 • B E - March 2016 ANUMEHTA The third IISHMA awards held on February 19, 2016, introduced a panel discussion for the wellness industry and corporates alike, which enabled them to create a healthy platform to discuss their expectations and services of each other. Wellness industry experts from various fields explained how they could provide corporates with good physical and mental health by reducing their stress, thus providing for a better, happier and healthier quality of life. This would be done using different tools to shift the mindset caught in web of numbers, logic, analysis, productivity and success. The panel also discussed the challenges in merging the two industries and employing the wellness industry for corporates in general. “Personal transformation” is about being transparent, honest and authentic, CORPORATE CHALLENGES AT ISHMA AWARDS-2016 which can make some people uncomfortable and vulnerable. People may not like the tag of “not okay” or “need to change” attached to their self–image, especially in the workplace. Money allotted by companies for wellness may be limited due to lack of understanding, and the prioritization of their time and funds for other seemingly more important activities. Corporates will need a thorough understanding of the wellness industry to remove their misgivings about the field. Their understanding will have to answer the following questions - How can the wellness industry help the corporate sector benefit? How do they differentiate between authentic and inauthentic wellness trainers? Basically, why should they hire a wellness expert in the first place? Corporate sector may need consistent measurable results showcased with case studies and testimonials, even in the field of wellness where everything is not measurable. Corporate may not have any trust in these sciences. Building the bridge over these two diverse ideologies with a foundation of awareness and acceptance, followed by trust is only when these two industries can mutually benefit each other.

DR.JACOB For every organization one of the key assets is its resources. In this competitive world the safety well being of its resources is critical for the organization. Most of the organizations cover them under various health schemes. If there is proper awareness in the organisations for preventive health care life would be much more easy for employees and employers .With alarming incidents of people (including people below 30 years) getting stress related break–downs or other diseases like Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Spondylitis and Cancer, it is imperative that we re–look at the way we consider Preventive Health Check–ups. Most of the organizations make annual health check–ups mandatory only for their personnel who are 35+ years or for those who already have been diagnosed with some disease. Soit is suggested that Corporates need to ensure preventive health care for a stress free workplace . PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE

  • 41. 39 • B E - March 201639 • B E - February 2016 R ohan Kantak at a young age of 26 has led his team for quite a few short films that have garnered awards and appreciation alike in many short film festivals and competitions. The young and dynamic short film director and editor has worked on many prestigious projects like movies Wedding Pullav, Alibaug Bypass and Avadhra; TV show Simply Baatein with Raveena; Fortune Rice and Nature Basket ads, amongst many others. In conversation with Rohan Kantak. What is it that triggered your interest in the entertainment industry? I was always inclined towards the entertainment industry and more than studies what captured my interest were the extra-curricular activities biasing towards drama and theatre. The appreciation and support from my parents further motivated me to think about it a little seriously. That’s when I decided to do a course in ZIMA institute and shifted vase to Mumbai from Nashik. What drew you specifically towards Direction? While studying at ZIMA, we got a lot of opportunities to explore the various facets of Cinema making, both in front and behind the camera. Editing was once aspect that I The talent behind many award winning short films..! thoroughly enjoyed and kept experimenting with it. I enjoyed in front of the camera and was equally good at reigning the team as a director for our ZIMA projects. I absolutely loved every moment spent there creating some crazy video projects. When did this passion of yours take the professional turn? the simple fact that a small short film, documentary created by someone, somewhere in the world can affect millions around the world, blew my mind off. I was enchanted by the power of cinema, the power of creating something beautiful and meaningful that can touch the hearts and souls of people around the globe irrespective of their geographical or social origin. That’s when it struck that ‘Yes, this is my calling, this is what I want to do all my life.’ Tell us something about your first short film as a Director ‘Jo Je Vancheel’ that has garnered a lot appreciation and accolades? In today’s time where the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has moved the nation, we came up with an idea of making movie on river Godavari and how with every passing day its getting contaminated. And this increases especially during Kumbh-mela. Since I hail from Nashik this was a cause very close to me and we are glad that so many people have appreciated out efforts and loved the short film. From celebrities to various authorities have backed our movie and helped us spread the message. How did you get the quirky idea for a short film like ‘Popat’ that won the title of ‘The Best Film’ in 48 hours Film Festival? It was a crazy brainstorming session going on with ideas pouring in from everyone but somehow we weren’t satisfied and since we just had 48 hours in hand to conceptualize, execute, shoot and edit and submit it was a nerve wrecking time for all of us. In the wee hours of the morning a small idea of a race of the sperms came to one of the group members, and we developed it into a concept. The film has an equal balance of curiosity to understand the events happening along with a comic angel to it. We won an award and got a lot of appreciation for the film. Which have been your most popular loved short films? By far our short films - Jo Je Vancheel, Nawaz and Popat have been the most popular most and have won quite a few awards in many short film festivals. Your favourite short film till date? I love all the short films we have made including the amateur ones that we made during our ZIMA days, as behind each one of them goes a lot of hard work of the entire team. Each one of is special and very close to my heart. Future plans? There are quite a few short films that we are working on and in next couple of months we might be ready with a few of these short films. DHARMISHTHA DAGIA
