Ask for a motion to approve the minutes. With a motion and second, ask all in favor to RAISE THEIR VOTING PADDLES. Ask for opposition. Approval should be unanimous. Introduce Tara as Vice Chair of Board, and as Chair of Nominating Committee.
Each year BISG elects a slate of candidates to serve as directors of the BISG Board. The 36 women and men who make up the BISG Board spend tireless hours helping our organization move the industry forward. It has been my privilege to serve with them, and I’m pleased, on behalf of the Board, to put the following names forward for nomination. These terms expire at the Annual Meeting of Members in 2016.
Read names. Ask for a motion to accept nominations. With a motion and second, ask for all in favor to RAISE THEIR VOTING PADDLES.
In FY 2012-2013, BISG was able to sustain the improved financial results achieved in the prior FY. While the organization failed to hit its modest projected surplus of $15k, the overall result was revenue neutral. Income in key categories—membership, publication sales—held steady. On the expense side, the organization incurred one-time costs associated with the BISG office move in July 2012, though those costs were offset by personnel savings resulting from the departure of a key employee in the third fiscal quarter.
As the organization was in the process of crafting a new mission statement, and as we welcomed three new staff members in July, the current budget is something of a placeholder. As is our practice every year, the Board will approve a reforecast budget at its November Board meeting. Because of all this change, we expect the variance between the original budget and the reforecast budget to be a bit more this year than in past years. That said, the budget we’re asking you to approve is a very good representation of where we are today. We are projecting growth in Member Dues and Publication Sales, and expect to keep expenses fairly close to where they’ve been each of the past two years.
We need a motion to approve. With a motion and a second, ask for all in favor to approve by RAISING THEIR VOTING PADDLES.
