One individual may die for an idea; but that idea will, after his death, incarnate itself in a thousand lives. That is how the wheel of evolution moves on and the ideas and dreams of one nation are bequeathed to the next - Subhas Chandra Bose
From the JapaneseGovernment document, it hasbeen found that there isconfirmation that Japan agreedto take Netaji to Russia. It is notonly that. There was also anescape plan. So, the planincluded that as he left Saigon,Japan would announce that hehad died in an air crash.
According to the JapaneseGovernment, the accidentoccurred on 18thAugust, 1945. It took themfive days to deliberate andthen announce to the world ina cryptic one line that SubhasChandra Bose had died in anair crash.
After getting news what wasMahatma Gandhi‟s reaction?Mahatma Gandhi sent atelegram to Netaji‟s elderbrother Shri Satish ChandraBose. Mahatma Gandhi hadalways been cryptic. Hismessage was, “don‟t perform„Sradh‟. That was thebeginning of the doubt.
The Cabinet, at its meeting on25th October 1945, decided, theonly civilian renegade ofimportance, Subhas ChandraBose, that it would be better toleave him where he is. So, theBritish Government even inAugust 1945 knew that SubhasChandra Bose was not died. It isnot from any individual, but fromthe British Government itself.
In the meantime, Habib-ur-Rehman, who claimed to haveseen Netaji being wounded, whole body in fire, coming fromthe plane, which crashed, atTaihoku, tried with his hands toput of the fire but failed. He alsoclaimed that he was there whenhe was taken to a hospital inTaipei, the capital of Taiwan. Healso claimed that he was awitness to his death.
Col. Habibur Rehman came tolate Shri Sarat Chandra Bose. They had a discussion forabout 2½ hours. After thatdiscussion, Sarat ChandraBose came out and said:“Habibur is not speaking thetruth”.
Then, Habibur Rahman went overto Delhi to meet Mahatmaji. Therepresentatives of the mediaasked him: “What was HabiburRahman told you?” Once again,in a cryptic message to hiscountrymen, Mahatma ji said:“Habibur told me what his leaderhas ordered him to say.”
According to Habibur Rehman, the dead body was cremated onthe 20th August, 1945, accordingto the Municipal Certificate, thecremation took place at 6 p.m. onthe 22nd August 1945. One couldunderstand a fictitious name (i.e.Ichiro Okura)being used in theDeath Certificate, and in theCremation Certificate.
This is a note of the Prime Minister‟sSecretariat. This bears the File no.23(II)/56-57/PM, dated 2.12.1954 andthe note is signed by Shri M.O.Mathai. “A small amount of Rs. 200and odd was received by theMinistry of External Affairs from ourEmbassy in Tokyo and along withthe ashes and other remains of thelate Shri Subhas Chandra Bose. Thismoney is being kept with theExternal Affairs Ministry.”
In the time of NDAGovernment, Mukherjeecommission created.Commission went to theRenkoji temple & wanted totake evidence of the priest, buthe refused to give anyevidence. They said that theywere prepared to talk to thecommission but not on record.
Justice Mukherjee requestedthem to open the urn and wantedto see the contents (ashes ofNetaji). They suddenly looked ateach other and after about tenminutes they came and toldJustice Mukherjee that they weresorry about the fact that sincethere were no carpentersavailable, they could not open theurn.
Commission went to interview thedoctor, whose name was Yoshimi, who had claimed to have treatedNetaji Subhas Bose when he wasbrought to the hospital aftersustaining very serious burninjuries in the air crash. He wasasked as to whether he had treatedNetaji Subhas Bose or not. Hisreply was „no‟. He did not knowwhom he treated as he had neverseen Chandra Bose.
Commission was given audience bythe Ministry of External Affairs ofthe Taiwan Government; theMinistry of Health of the TaiwanGovernment; and the Ministry ofInternal Security or the HomeMinistry of the Taiwan Government. They told Justice Mukherjeeunequivocally that they wereabsolutely sure and certain thatthere was no air accident in thewhole State of Taiwan on the 18thAugust, 1945.
Justice Mukherjee went to thecrematorium. He found that Ichiro Okurawas cremated on 22nd August, but hisdeath was not on 18th but on 19thAugust, 1945. Lt. Gen. shidei name wasnot there and the Chief Pilot‟s name wasalso not there. Those dead bodiesvanished. He also found out that IchiroOkura was patient in that hospital. Hedied on the 19th August due to heartattack. A dead body was required to buryor cremate Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.Without a dead body how could they tellwhether he died and cremated? So, Ichiro Okura‟s dead body was used.
Refer to pages 22 to 31, Volumes-I ofthe Report, He explained that he triedhis best but nothing could be done inthe matter. He was ready although theexperts said nothing would be found. That is why, he has concluded thatalthough the DNA Test was not done,he was completely satisfied that it wasnot Subhas Chandra Bose who died inan air crash because the air crash didnot happen taking into view of theJapanese doctor‟s evidence but hesaid that still he would conclude andcome to this finding.
