Atlas news final proposal
1. Final proposal
On Sunday the 11th
of October at around 1:00amJosh Hanson, a 21 year old
male, was stabbed in a totally motiveless attack in the RE bar, Eastcote. Police
believe to have found a potential suspectfor the murder and are offering a
hefty £10,000reward to anyonewho has information leading to the
whereabouts of Shane O’Brian. My intentions with this project is to create a
news broadcastwith atlas news informing the public on the recent murder of
Joshua Hanson in the RE Bar, Eastcote. The final broadcastis going to contain
interviews fromthe general public, facts and statistics concerning knife crime
in London in pastyears as well as using a survey to gain a variety of views from
external sources. Overallthe broadcastshould lastbetween 2 to 5 minutes,
this rangeof time gives me enough time to introduce the topic, show
interviews and facts and statistics as well as being able to conclude upon the
topic.
The broadcastwill be played at 12:00pm, 18:00pmand 22:00pm, I believe
using a variety of times in the day will allow the broadcastto be seen by a
larger amountof people, this is because these are peak times in the day, this
allows people who normally go to work in the morning are able to see the late
night show and this is vice versa for people who go to work in the evening can
watch the broadcastin the noon showing, the productwill be played three
times on only one day of the week. This decision is based on the realistic fact
that the same news story isn’tplayed three times a day and seven days a
week. The important thing to keep in mind is that this broadcasthas only so
much that can be said and due to this broadcastonly being played one day a
week I am going to put all the information concerning the topic in this one
broadcast. The broadcastwill usethe colours blue, green and white to
resemble the colours of the ‘atlas’ this corresponds to the title of the
broadcast‘atlas news’, this also corresponds to the slogan of the broadcast
which is ‘news around the atlas’. A production logo will be put in the top right
2. hand corner of the screen to show audiences whosebroadcastthey are
watching, this gives the broadcasta professionallook.
To make the broadcastmoreinteresting I will be going on the streets of
Eastcote and asking people for a shortinterview. I will be looking to gather
around 3 to 5 interviews fromthe general public and I will be implementing
that footage into the broadcastfor the viewers to have a different point of
view on the topic. The people that will be interviewed will be randomly found
on Eastcote high street and if I believe that the answers areto one sided then I
will try to get a large variety of responses fromdifferentpeople.
In this broadcastI mustmakesure that all legal actions are taken, e.g.
copyright, actor release. The version of a news programmethat I am trying to
create is similar to the type of news shows thatBBC, sky and channel 4
produce. By using these programmes as comparisons means thatI will be able
to venture into a moreinteresting and informative news programme.
The primary research that took place was a short9 question survey that
gathered 15 responses as well as interviews taken on the high street fromthe
public. This allowed me to get a wide range of responses and research to put
into the broadcastand be able to elaborate on different point of views with
more depth and reasoning. The feedback that I gathered fromthe survey was
very positive and will be of great use. All of the interviews taken will be added
into our news broadcast. Copyrightisn’ta big issuein our production as the
main footage is original and not taken fromany sources, the only bit of
copyrightthat will need to be taken care of will be images and music used in
the edit.
