1. A. My second grade class is made up of 24 students; 10 boys and 14 girls. There is an
almost equal amount of black and white students. All of the students come from lower SES
backgrounds and most read below grade level. Being that the students are younger, they will
learn better through movement and participation. Before the lesson, students will participate
in a review of the different place values between the ones place and the millions place.
S. My second grade students will learn the place values of the following: ones, tens,
hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands, and millions with 95% accuracy by
the end of the day through the use ofa class discussion on the Facebook page, by singing along
with a YouTube video, and through another game of Second Life; students will be assessed
through observation and participation during class discussion.
S. Students will begin the class with a discussion on the Facebook page. Next, they will
sign along with a YouTube video. Finally, students will participate in another game of Second
Life where the class will present more examples of place value and then have free-time play
within a secured environment.
U. This is a teacher centered lesson. The teacher will lead the students in the YouTube
video, Facebook page discussion, and Second Life discussion.
R. Students will be required to participate in the Facebook page discussion and singing
along with the YouTube video. Students will also be required to participate in the Second Life
discussion.
E. Since this is primarily a review or combined repeat of previous lessons, so if a student
did not like one of the technologies used than they will not enjoy this lesson.
