The Fourth Year of our Degree in Editing, post-production and sound aims to get editors to widen their perspectives toward different ways of make cinema and understand it. Students will realize short films in 35mm, Red Epic and Red One Digital Cinema with coordination of the projects and a detailed follow-up of the work of the different film crews.

2.- 3D Modeling.
• 3D Maya interface . Customizing the environment. Working Philosophy in
Autodesk Maya. – Selection methods. The channel box.- Floating Menus.
Creation and configuration of shelves . - The 3D space. - Working on the views. -
Modes of viewing and selection tools. - Keyboard shortcuts and functions of
Maya. - Basic Tools. - Properties of objects.
• Modeling. Principles of 3D modeling. -Types of geometry. - nurbs modeling.
Topology and philosophy of nurbs curves. Converting nurbs to polygons. -
Polygonal modeling. - Primitive. - Basic operations with polygons. - Fundamen-
tals of polygonal modeling. - Modeling with polygons: low poly. - Inorganic
Modeling. - Modeling and construction of complex meshes for the construction

• 3D Texturizing. Texturizing with Mudbox. – Material layers: color map,
bump, diffusion, specular. - Application of the model.
3.- 3D Animation .
• Basic animation and effects. Animation techniques. Key control. Animation
cornering.
• Animation applied to non-organic objects. Camera animation. Animation
for motion graphics. Character animation.
• Configuration of a character setup. Automation of functions for animation.
Development of an advanced skeleton: bipeds and quadrupeds. Inverse
kinematics, hierarchies and direct kinematics. Walking Cycle. Control of attribu-
tes expressions. Facial animation tools. Mel basic expressions. Handlers, shafts
and pivots. Basic Lighting.
4.- Rendering and finishing projects .
• Render. – Available output formats and their use. Preferences and advanced
settings. Global renders. Batch-render, hardware render buffer. Application of
motion-blur. Shadows, reflection and refraction. -Print image formats. Division
of tasks in postproduction. Depth and blur. Layered render composition.
Playblast and render in low resolution for the animatic. Scene optimization to

OBJETIVES AND STRUCTURE
The Fourth Year of our Degree in Editing,
Post-Production and Sound aims at consolida-
ting the knowledge acquired and at absorbing
the technique of editing, sonorization and
finalising of film projects. As a student, you will
apply the knowledge acquired in the shooting
and editing of two 35 mm short films, six 16 mm
shootings and the Cineminutes, performing
different roles and taking part in the projects
from beginning to end. We want you to look for
your own style as a creator and film technician,
to become confident in yourself and in your
way of working in a professional environment.
We will coordinate and monitor projects, as well
as following closely the work of the different film
crews.At the end of the FourthYear editing and
sound teams will be chosen for the six 35 mm
projects among the students who have shown
the best evolution in all exercises of the Degree

• MIXES II. Dolby 5.1 and other digital systems. The 3D Sound. Supervised
mixes of the Red Epic Short Film made by Student Directors.
• Direct Sound IV. Practicum Sound Catchment. Samplers. Previous voicing
work.
6.- Lenguaje y Estética VIII. Nuevos Cines.
• Viva Italia: From Antonioni, Fellini and Visconti to the ugliness of Pasolini.
EastWinds. Brazil:The aesthetics of hunger and violence. Cinemas of the Far East:
Eros and Thanatos. Young Swedish and a huge filmmaker (Bergman). Germany
again. Belgium: Between the fantastic and hyperrealism. Stateless.
• The view. The tone. The theme and tempo.
• Hollywood in the era of new cinema. The renewal of the comedy. The
Twilight and Wild: Peckinpah. The TV generation: Mulligan, Lumet, Pollack...
European influence. Neoclassicism. Great Expectations.The domain of technolo-
