4. The Jožef Stefan institute in numbers
The Jožef Stefan Institute is the leading Slovenian scientific research institute, covering a broad spectrum of basic and applied research.
Staff number: approx. 1000 specializes in natural sciences, life sciences and engineering.
Over 200 researchers from the institute are habilitated at Slovenian universities and take part in the high school educational process.
In the last ten years over 650 researchers made their B.Sc or PhD work at JSI.

- The initiative for the establishment of IPS came from the JSI. It was strongly supported by industry (Gorenje, Kolektor, Salonit) and an international network of cooperating universities and research institutes from European Union, the USA, Japan, and a number of other countries.

10. NANOS SCIENTIFICAE d.o.o.
•Multi-purpose magnetic nanoparticles for the R&D in the ares of targeted delivery of medicinal substances, healing of cancer with hyperthermia, MR imaging, diagnosing tumors, separation of proteins in biopharmaceuticals, and nanotoxicology.
PARTICULARS d.o.o.
•Measuring systems for laboratories which deal with semiconductor detectors for charged particles. Their measuring systems enable much more effective studies of radiation injuries in LHC in Cern.
RGA d.o.o.
•The company develops highly productive grain genetics (F1 hybrids, lines with desired characteristics, synthetics) for regional and global seed industry. Their new species will be more effective and better adapted to the climatic conditions.

-In 3 months the company made two long-term cooperation contracts (PA)
-Just JSI is visiting 50+ companies each year, most published in EEN.

•KTT is using EEN services (TOs, EoIs, PAs, …) as one of the most important tools for R&D partnering and technology transfer (IP protection, TA/MA, commercialization of the technologies).
•Established colaboration with CERN TTO network for HEP-related technologies (all largest high energy physics & research infrastructure organizations in Europe)

•Supporting researchers and SMEs with project proposal writing – business plans and impact chapters (proposal elaboration, workshops).

16. Slovenian Tech-Transfer Consortium – a pool of knowledge for SMEs
Activities:
•Assistance in protection and marketing of intellectual property - Patenting
•Technology and market opportunities assessment and commercialization of technologies
•licensing
•the creation of spin-out companies
•Legal assistance
•for preparation of agreements on the protection of business secrets (NDA)
•contracts for the acquisition and marketing of technologies Results:
•In last 15 months: 82 Technologies were disclosed to the Consortium (41 applications were developed at the Jozef Stefan Institute)
•46% of the cases at the marketing stage / 15% in assesment / 15% in stage of preparation and protection of IPR / 24% inactive, rejected
The consortium is co-financed by the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology through public agency SPIRIT Slovenia.
