Static charge elimination in nonwoven manufacturing
Problem
In a nonwoven manufacturing line, high levels of static charge are generated on the
nonwoven fabric due to sudden changes in temperature, friction between the
nonwoven fabric and rollers or conveyor, low plant humidity, etc.
This results in:
1. Attraction of fine dust, hair, loose fibres etc., by the fabric. This is undesirable
as these fabrics often form the base for masks and other hygiene products
2. Shocks by way of electrostatic discharges that can be very uncomfortable to
operators
3. Web wander and uneven winding in the line as the web gets attracted towards
grounded objects
4. Malfunction of sensors and transducers due to the “noise” created by high
levels of static electricity

Solution
Valstat DC static eliminating systems, with replaceable pins, are suitable for
neutralising static charges during nonwoven manufacturing. They are effective over
long distances and effectively discharge both positive and negative ions, thus
