Methane Separation Process on Gas Field Offshore Plaform

1. METHANE SEPARATION
 Cryogenic method.
 The temperature is reduced to -120 degree Fahrenheit.
 The quick drop in temperature that the expander is capable of
producing condenses the hydrocarbons in the gas stream but maintain
methane in its gaseous form.
 The absorption method on the other hand uses a absorbing oil to
separate the methane from NGLs. While the gas stream passes through
an absorption tower the absorption oil soaks up a large amount of
NGLs.
 The enriched oil having NGLs exit from the bottom of tower which is
further heated above the boiling point of NGLs so the oil remain as
fluid & recycled while the NGLs are cooled & directed to fractionator
tower.
