THE TWO

          WORLDS

           By: Elder Don Ellis

"Through faith we understand that the worlds
were framed by the word of God, so that things
which are seen were not made ofthings which
            do appear. " Hebrews 11:3
In Hebrews 11:1-3, "Now faith is the
substance of things hoped for, the evidence of
things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a
good report. Through faith we understand that
the worlds were framed by the word of God,
so that things which are seen were not made of
things which do appear."

God, in His great wisdom, has given us faith to
understand that He has framed (or brought to
good order or harmony) two worlds which I
believe is the old and new covenant families.
God is the author and fmisher of our faith, the
beginning and the end. In Acts, 15: 18 it is
written, "Known unto God are all his works
from the beginning ofthe world." Speaking of
the Old Covenant, 1 Corinthians 10: 11 reads,
"Now all these things happened unto them for
ensamples: and they are written for our
admonition, upon whom the ends ofthe world
are come." Hebrews 9:26 mentioned that
Jesus came once in the end of the world; he
appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of
himself. God began the Old Covenant by .
calling Abraham and hinl alone, as a seed to
bring about a great family who were finally
called Israelites. Romans 4: 17 states, "(As it is
                        1
written, I have made thee a father of many
nations,) before him whom he believed, even
God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth
those things which be not as though they
were." In verse 19, "And being not weak in
faith, he considered not his own body now
dead, when he was about an hundred years old,
neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb."
Abraham and Sarah were only dead in the
sense that they were unable to procreate. God
gave them this life by faith, and in this sense,
this great family came from the dead.
Galatians 3: 16 reads, "Now to Abraham and
his seed were the promises made. He saith
not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one,
And to thy seed, which is Christ." Abraham
was the seed of the Israelites but not every
Israelite was the lineage of this seed. By
election it was not given to Ishmael but to
Isaac. And through Isaac, by election, it was
given to Jacob and not Esau that the purpose
of God might stand. Jacob's name was
changed to Israel after he wrestled with the
angel and prevailed. This great family,
through Israel (or Jacob), became the twelve
tribes of the Old Covenant. This seed of
Abraham fmally came to the seed that God has
                       2
in mind, or let me say has in His book, and
that seed was Christ who is the beginning of
the New Covenant. Now the seed of Christ is
not human sperm, neither is it as according to
the election, made before the foundation of the
world (Romans 8:29-30), but it is brought
about by the quickening of the word of God,
Luke 8:10-11, "And he said, unto you it is
given to know the mysteries ofthe kingdom of
God; but to others in parables: that seeing
they might not see, and hearing they might not
understand. Now the parable is this; The seed
is the word of God." There is a great
misunderstanding as to the seed that brings
forth a life which is found in the New
Covenant. Jesus, in John 6:63, explains this to
his unbelieving disciples who are fmding it
difficult to understand that when he ascends up
to where he was before as the high priest, he
will make it plain to them that have the seed
(or word) of God sown in their hearts. He
explains that his words are spirit and they are
life.

In the Old Covenant, God wrote his
commandments on tables of stone and they
were copied into scrolls which were to be read
                       3
and obeyed. In the New Covenant, God
explains in Hebrews 8:10-13 the workings of
the New Covenant. It is new in that he writes
his laws into their heart and mind. He will
become unto them a God and they shall be his
people. This is not teaching this is to be born
of the Spirit. This is a new and living way
(Hebrews 10:20); in this New Covenant, you
"no longer teach every man or neighbor to
know the Lord, for they shall all know him,
from the least to the greatest." We learn that
we are very great sinners and that God is holy
and righteous and that we need to be saved by
grace. Jesus is then revealed to us as having
been our Savior and that we are saved. This is
revealed by faith in his blood. Hebrews 9:14
reads, "How much more shall the blood of
Christ, who through the eternal spirit offered
himself, without spot to God, purge your
conscience from dead works to serve the living
God."

Now let us go to John 5:21, "For as the father
raises up the dead, and quickeneth them; even
so the Son quickeneth whom he will." The
dead the father quickened began at Abraham.
The word "quicken" in the Greek means to
                       4
give life as well as to become lively. Some
examples of this are found in Psalms 119:40,
"Behold I have longed after thy precepts:
quicken me in thy righteousness." Also in
119:50, "This is my comfort in my afflictions:
for thy word hath quickened me." In rightly
dividing the truth, we know this is not a person
dead in sin, asking god to give him eternal life
or to be born again. Only God's covenant
people can understand this. This is God
turning over to Christ, as our High Priest, the
judgment and watch-care ofthe New Covenant
just as he was the King and Savior and Priest
ofthe Old Covenant. Israel did not need a
king because they already had one. They
didn't need a man to be a Savior; they already
had one. Jesus is now the Lord Jesus Christ of
the New Covenant Kingdom and can give the
kingdom to whomsoever he will just the same
as God could. He can also put out of his
kingdom evil doers and unbelievers the same
as God. They are equal in power and glory.
David saw this in a great vision which is
reflected in the saying, "The Lord said to my
Lord, sit thou at my right hand." This was said
in Hebrew in the Old Testament and in Greek
in the New Testament. Paul explains this in
                       5
2Corinthians 3:3-13, "For as much as ye,are
manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ
ministered by us, written not with ink, but with
the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of
stone, but in the fleshy tables of the heart.
And such trust have we through Christ to God
ward: Not that we are sufficient of ourselves;
but our sufficiency is of God; who has also
made us able ministers of the new testament;
not of the letter, but of the Spirit: for the letter
killeth, but the spirit giveth life. But if the
ministration of death, written and engraven in
stones, was glorious, so that the children of
Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of
Moses for the glory of his countenance; which
glory was to be done away: how shall not the
ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
For ifthe ministration of condemnation be
glory, much more doth the ministration of
righteousness exceed in glory. For even that
which was made glorious had no glory in this
respect, by reason of the glory which that
excelleth. For if that which is done away was
glorious, much more that which remaineth is
glorious.

                         6
Seeing then that we have such hope, we use
great plainness of speech: and not as Moses
which put a veil over his face, that the children
of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of
that which is abolished ..."

Two Worlds Framed by Faith

  • 1. THE TWO WORLDS By: Elder Don Ellis "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made ofthings which do appear. " Hebrews 11:3
  • 2. In Hebrews 11:1-3, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." God, in His great wisdom, has given us faith to understand that He has framed (or brought to good order or harmony) two worlds which I believe is the old and new covenant families. God is the author and fmisher of our faith, the beginning and the end. In Acts, 15: 18 it is written, "Known unto God are all his works from the beginning ofthe world." Speaking of the Old Covenant, 1 Corinthians 10: 11 reads, "Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends ofthe world are come." Hebrews 9:26 mentioned that Jesus came once in the end of the world; he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. God began the Old Covenant by . calling Abraham and hinl alone, as a seed to bring about a great family who were finally called Israelites. Romans 4: 17 states, "(As it is 1
  • 3. written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were." In verse 19, "And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb." Abraham and Sarah were only dead in the sense that they were unable to procreate. God gave them this life by faith, and in this sense, this great family came from the dead. Galatians 3: 16 reads, "Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ." Abraham was the seed of the Israelites but not every Israelite was the lineage of this seed. By election it was not given to Ishmael but to Isaac. And through Isaac, by election, it was given to Jacob and not Esau that the purpose of God might stand. Jacob's name was changed to Israel after he wrestled with the angel and prevailed. This great family, through Israel (or Jacob), became the twelve tribes of the Old Covenant. This seed of Abraham fmally came to the seed that God has 2
  • 4. in mind, or let me say has in His book, and that seed was Christ who is the beginning of the New Covenant. Now the seed of Christ is not human sperm, neither is it as according to the election, made before the foundation of the world (Romans 8:29-30), but it is brought about by the quickening of the word of God, Luke 8:10-11, "And he said, unto you it is given to know the mysteries ofthe kingdom of God; but to others in parables: that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. Now the parable is this; The seed is the word of God." There is a great misunderstanding as to the seed that brings forth a life which is found in the New Covenant. Jesus, in John 6:63, explains this to his unbelieving disciples who are fmding it difficult to understand that when he ascends up to where he was before as the high priest, he will make it plain to them that have the seed (or word) of God sown in their hearts. He explains that his words are spirit and they are life. In the Old Covenant, God wrote his commandments on tables of stone and they were copied into scrolls which were to be read 3
  • 5. and obeyed. In the New Covenant, God explains in Hebrews 8:10-13 the workings of the New Covenant. It is new in that he writes his laws into their heart and mind. He will become unto them a God and they shall be his people. This is not teaching this is to be born of the Spirit. This is a new and living way (Hebrews 10:20); in this New Covenant, you "no longer teach every man or neighbor to know the Lord, for they shall all know him, from the least to the greatest." We learn that we are very great sinners and that God is holy and righteous and that we need to be saved by grace. Jesus is then revealed to us as having been our Savior and that we are saved. This is revealed by faith in his blood. Hebrews 9:14 reads, "How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal spirit offered himself, without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God." Now let us go to John 5:21, "For as the father raises up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will." The dead the father quickened began at Abraham. The word "quicken" in the Greek means to 4
  • 6. give life as well as to become lively. Some examples of this are found in Psalms 119:40, "Behold I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness." Also in 119:50, "This is my comfort in my afflictions: for thy word hath quickened me." In rightly dividing the truth, we know this is not a person dead in sin, asking god to give him eternal life or to be born again. Only God's covenant people can understand this. This is God turning over to Christ, as our High Priest, the judgment and watch-care ofthe New Covenant just as he was the King and Savior and Priest ofthe Old Covenant. Israel did not need a king because they already had one. They didn't need a man to be a Savior; they already had one. Jesus is now the Lord Jesus Christ of the New Covenant Kingdom and can give the kingdom to whomsoever he will just the same as God could. He can also put out of his kingdom evil doers and unbelievers the same as God. They are equal in power and glory. David saw this in a great vision which is reflected in the saying, "The Lord said to my Lord, sit thou at my right hand." This was said in Hebrew in the Old Testament and in Greek in the New Testament. Paul explains this in 5
  • 7. 2Corinthians 3:3-13, "For as much as ye,are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in the fleshy tables of the heart. And such trust have we through Christ to God ward: Not that we are sufficient of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; who has also made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the Spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: how shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? For ifthe ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory which that excelleth. For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. 6
  • 8. Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: and not as Moses which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished ..." 7
