There is a lot of pride in local education systems (rightly so) & returning students need to not dismiss the potential competition from local graduates Employers in both countries were keen to emphasise the importance of students gaining ‘relevant work experience’. Volunteering and part-time jobs didn’t have the same recognition as with UK employers There was an assumption of fluency in English & a sense of shock if this proved not to be the case when interviewing returners A greater understanding of the recruitment processes and cycles, as well as an appreciation of the importance of networks
