2. As we know, a task is a work or an activity
performed or attempt by students. In TBL, Activities or
tasks require the students to use the language in real
life situations and to be focused on meaning. TBL is an
approach developed by N Prabhu in Bangladore in
southern India and it is based on the belief that
students may learn more effectively when their minds
are focused on the task rather than on the language
they are using.
3. task are not focused on a particular structure,
function or vocabulary group but a wider range
of language.
They are not given a list of words to use but the
task is which generate the language to be used.
There are continuous evaluation.
Tasks are made in groups and they consists in
solving problems, role plays, oral presentations,
etc.
4. Teachers determine the area of interest of
students and ask them to work on it.
Both, teachers and students evaluate and
give feedback during the whole process.
5. Pre-task: it consist in the presentation of
the task and topic, for example if the topic is
Halloween, teacher write some words
related to this and show pictures or videos of
people with customs or kids asking for
candies or whatever.
6. Task cycle: it consists in the task itself, here the
learner has to plan and give a report. For
example, now they know the topic they have to
plan how the are going to report to class what
they discover or learn (it could be orally or in
writing) while teacher is monitoring, finally they
present the reports to the class.
7. Language focus: it is based on analysis and
practice, for instance, the students examine
and discuss any accompanying text, audio, or
visuals and then the teacher conducts some
sort of practice, like a game.
