A method used to help students from
different backgrounds, ethnic groups, and
different levels of knowledge including digital
text, software, and microsoft word.
3. Digital Text
Digital Text is text stored as
strings of characters electronically.
Many books and historical books
have been converted digitally to be
available via computer.
★ It helps those who have trouble
reading standard print from
books, and who could benefit
from manipulating the text
★ An example of Digital Text would
be Clearly which provides a
cleaned up version of an article
with built in highlighting. this type
of Digital Text allows people to
save the articles in an Evernote
account in case the learner needs
to access it in other devices later
on.
4. Audio There are three main ways to get
computer text to talk but the easiest one to use
is Kidspiration, the second one is utility and
that basically just highlighting any program
and it will talk, the last one is to use a free or
commercial talking word processor. If you use
one of these three they will make your text talk
and make it easier for you.
Kidspiration: Record command, teacher
can record themselves and give
examples/instructions for the student.
Talking text?
Words that the computer may read on the
computer by command. Sometimes the words
need to be highlighted in order for the
computer to say it.
Help?
It will benefit those students who struggle
with the task of composing grammatically
correct sentences,students that have hearing
omissions or inaccuracies in their work and
also those that need support reading.
★ An example of Audio is
VoiceOver which is a built in
screen reader that uses
synthesized speech to
describe the words on the
screen. this is a very helpful
tool for someone who cannot
see.
5. Digital Enhancement
Text enhancement is the use of
timelines, photographs, etc. It may
also include the definition of words,
cultural contexts, and explanations of
idioms.
If we put all of these in a digital
document, we can add links, videos,
graphics, audio books and many
more resources found online. Now we
have a Digital Enhanced document.
★ Digital Enhancement helps students
with disabilities, struggle with
reading, and who have a hard time
with vocabulary.
★ Notability is an iOS app that records
audio as people take notes through
text,photos, web links, and or
handwriting. the notes that are
synchronized to audio helps people
find a specific part of the notes in the
recording by tapping the adequate
section of the notes.
6. Software
Many types of software help us in our
daily classrooms, such as Microsoft
Office, Google Docs, etc.
There are also applications for iPads
that enhance a student's’ learning,
whether it is in a writing class or a
math class.
“Rainbow Writing” can be used in
Google Docs, each student chooses a
color and this represents themselves
in a graphic organizer.
★ Software is very helpful to
students who are reluctant to
participate in class,
software/apps captures their
attention and are now active
during the lesson.

7. Visual
Visual technology for diverse learners
are non linguistic representations.
These include: Clip art, digital photos,
and graphic organizers.
★ Skitch is an app that provides
diagrams that can be labeled and
other graphics that lets students
illustrate important concepts. This
app is available in most of the
platforms such as: Mac,
Windows, Android, and iOS.
★ Visuals helps students who
benefit from seeing relationships
between information, and
students who have a visual
representation to help clarify and
organize information.
8. Curricular Supports: Microsoft
Word
Microsoft Word has great futures that
support differentiation strategies, such
as:
● Computer-generated summaries
● Highlighting important text
● Changing the color, font, size of
the document
● Grammar checker
★ Microsoft Word helps students
who have trouble spelling, Word
corrects the word. Change the
color, font, size of a document
helps students be creative for a
class project.
9. Text-to-Speech
Text-to-Speech converts digital text
into speech, this allows the student to
have selected text read out loud.
This is supported for Word
documents, email, PDFs, and
information on the internet.

Read&Write provides numerous
of UDL supports for language
and symbols, this includes: text
to speech, translation, picture
dictionary, and highlighting.
★ This would benefit students:

○ with a visual processing
difficulty
○ learning English as another
language
