2. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES John 15:12 – “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”
3. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES John 15:12 Ministries is an all-volunteer outreach to the homeless in the Cincinnati area.
4. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES The focus is on those that are not "in the system," but on those living by the river, under the bridges, in abandoned buildings, and on the streets.
5. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES We gather necessities such as wood, water, coats, blankets, and food to deliver to those in need.
6. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES Delivering these necessities is used to open the door to develop personal trusting relationships, and show those in need the unconditional love of God, with nonjudgmental acceptance and caring.
7. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES We do not force ‘church’ on them, but for those that want to attend, we will provide transportation and encouragement.
8. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES The ministry began over 10 years ago as an outgrowth of the “Good Samaritan Run”, a program from the Tri-County Vineyard to bring sandwiches to the homeless in Washington Park.
9. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES A man that used to be homeless, living under a bridge, was able to get into his own apartment.
10. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES But he didn’t want to forget his friends still living under the bridges and in the homeless camps.
11. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES So he cooked up a large pan of spaghetti and meatballs, a huge salad, and some breadsticks to take to them.
12. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES He called one of his friends, (one of the founders of John 15:12 Ministries) to ask for a ride to deliver the food.
13. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES After taking her to several of the camps and bridges, she became aware of those completely outside the system of traditional services.
14. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES Since then, she and several of her friends have devoted themselves to loving those that society has rejected.
16. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES We strive to develop relationships with existing social programs and resources available to help, and provide referrals to those agencies when needed.
17. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES We encourage other churches and organizations to join us on our outreaches.
18. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES For those that want to get off the streets, we help with referrals to shelters, drug rehabilitation programs or housing.
19. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES We now have volunteers training with Transformations as assessors to work with and refer to the Healing Center and other agencies.
20. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES They are being trained to use interactive software linking various agencies in the county.
21. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES John 15:12 Ministries has developed a 14-stage continuum of care plan.
22. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES The volunteers of John 15:12 Ministries will act as “First Contact” to those not being served.
23. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES They then serve as mentors to those that enter the 14-step plan to transform their lives.
24. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES John 15:12 also provides a ‘fishing ministry’ to allow” individuals from the streets to enjoy a few hours of peace, away from “the skillet”.
25. JOHN 15:12 MINISTRIES John 15:12 also has a goal to educate the public and humanize those that are so easily dismissed.
