Ideology A set of ideas or beliefs that reflects how a person or group of people live their lives. http://www.thephilosophie.com/philosophie/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/ghandi-inembassady.jpg 	Ex. Gandhi had his own ideology that differed completely 	from anyone else's.
Individualism ,[object Object],http://www.cooltownstudios.com/images/individualism.jpg 	Ex. Not many people agree with the political party that believes in 	individualism.
Collectivism The belief that the main focus should not be on the individual, but rather on a group as a whole, providing more chances to grow as a nation. http://www.ladpss.org/dpss/health_care/art/health_care_access_manual_logo.gif 	Ex.  Collectivism gives everyone equal opportunities and protection.
Liberalism A political goal in which its main belief is changing laws in order to prevent revolution. http://eaves.ca/wp-content/uploads/2008/800px-Liberal_Party_of_Canada.svg.png Ex.  The liberal party believes in liberalism and many people agree with their way of running governments.
Self-Interest Self-interest is when a person places their needs or wants above others, putting themselves first and foremost. http://www.allthingsworkplace.com/images/2008/08/17/whats_in_it_for_me.php Ex.  Self-interest can be important, but can also cause problems.
Competition The freedom people have to disagree with another individual or group.  This opposition can be healthy for people in a way that gives them the chance to come up with their own ideas and beliefs as well as justify them.  http://www.lifesip.com/images/competition-7.gif Ex.  There is some tough competition in this years election.
Freedom(Political/Economic) Political and Economic Freedom gives people the liberty to voice their own opinions to a certain extent, letting them have a say on such things as who runs their country.  http://www.mdwomensheritagecenter.org/Websites/mdwomensheritagecenter/Images/vote.jpg 	Ex.  Everyone has the political freedom to vote for who they believe should run their country.
Rule of Law The rule that every citizen has the right and the responsibility to obey all laws provided by their government, despite their “level” in society. http://zunia.org/uploads/pics/rule_of_law28.jpg Ex.  Everybody has to follow the rule of law.
Private Property An area or object that is completely owned by an individual or  group.  This area/object can be used in any way they wish (that abides by the country’s laws/by-laws) and can be used to generate an income of money or just a place to live or something to use.  http://www.gemplers.com/images/items/130833-lrg.jpg Ex.  This private property is owned by the Smith’s.
Collective Responsibility When people have understood the rules and expectations of the group that they belong to, they all have responsibility to keep that group running smoothly and effectively.   http://www.lloydfraser.com/about_us/images/corporate_responsibility.jpg Ex. We have a collective responsibility as a nation to each play our parts in keeping our nation well kept.
Collective Interest Collective interest is when a group of people do things to serve that group as a whole, taking in consideration every individuals ideas, wants, and needs. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qab8k4AZP9Y/S9NjdfcaQjI/AAAAAAAABpA/s8l50LT8e-0/s1600/spartacus1.jpg Ex.  Many people believe in collective interest, because everyone is taken care of.
Cooperation The ability for individuals or groups to collaborate with others, usually in order to make things better for everyone involved. http://www.cooperationcommons.org/wp-content/uploads/2007/03/cooperation.jpg Ex.  Everybody’s cooperation is necessary to run a big event.
Economic Equality The belief that all people should have the equal opportunity to meet their own individual needs and wants. http://www.gadha.org/images/20090317083424_rich_poor_man.jpg Ex.  Economic equality disagrees with some people being very wealthy, and others being very poor.
Collective Norms Collective norms is the typical behavior everyone expects from one another. http://www.yorku.ca/yfile/photos/20070504/Citizens.jpg Ex.  Everyone is expected to act somewhat to everybody else’s ideas of collective norms.
Public Property An area or object that is provided to the public for their enjoyment.  Public property can not be used by any individual to do with as they please, there is a limit and a set of rules for how much and what the public can use that property for. Belief The confidence people put in things that may be uncertain or not proven.  Everyone has a different set of beliefs and trusts in different things. 	Ex. My belief for Santa Clause was only proven to me when presents were put under the tree when I was asleep.
Value The way a person rates the significance that something has to them. Alberta values oil very much as it is a main income of money for our province.
Individual Identity  The personal reference someone creates for themselves to explain who they are.  It can involve the group you belong to, the things you believe in, or simply what you do to pass the time. Collective Identity Collective Identity is the identity a group portrays of themselves as a whole.  With all individuals in the group interpreting the same image. http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/ab259/DailyTape/Turn%20Key%20Oil/well380.jpg 	Ex. As a country we have a collective identity.
