2. 1) What are the challenges Yabe is facing ?
Yabe faces multiple challenges:
1. Being able to improve efficiency, so they are able to clean the trains in 7 minutes to a satisfactory
standard
2. Most of the employees seem to end up working for Tessei due to difficulties that they have
Encountered in their career path and not because they want to work there. This results in unmotivated
employees, who are not able to perform their job to the required standard.
3. Another issue Yabe is facing is to preserve the safety of the employees. There has been a sharp
Increase in on-the-job accidents
3. 2) What would you do as Yabe to overcome them ?
My first suggestion is to reduce the number of part-time employees, which will allow them to hire more full-time
employees. This will give the workers greater job security which can boost the morale of
The employees, which can yield a better result. By becoming full-time employees, it makes it more
Attractive to stay at Tessei, which will result in a lower employee turnover ratio.
I believe that Tessei should actively seek to employ more young people. They will probably be
More energetic and have a bigger capacity to work the long shifts that are required. Due to this , I believe
They would be more qualified of cleaning the train properly within the given time frame.
Another action that I would suggest to Yabe, is to try and change the perception of the job they
Are doing. In order to make cleaning trains seem more attractive, I would try to boost morale by designing
New uniforms for them to wear. This will have to be a nice uniform, which they will feel comfortable in and
Proud to wear .
By reducing part-time staff and hire more full-time worker, I would also look at increasing their
Compensation , either by performance-based bonuses or a higher salary. I believe this would make the
Employees prouder(enables them to better provide for their family) to work as a cleaning staff, which
Would make them happier and resulting in a better performance at work.
