About a decade ago the mainstream Web stopped at a crossroad: JavaScript or native code? Silverlight was all the rage for a few years but then HTML5 won and Angular/React/Vue—all purely JS frameworks—have become mainstream. Today, Blazor comes up as a possible alternative to Angular/React/Vue and thanks to WebAssembly it opens up the web to be able to take advantage of existing development ecosystems, including .NET. Blazor is, to some extent, a modern attempt to revamp and refine the Silverlight concept—bringing the power of C# to client-side web development. In this session, I’ll discuss the underlying system architecture of an ASP.NET Blazor application and present a few examples.

The number of mobile applications is growing exponentially. There is an app for almost anything you want to do, and everyday, thousands of apps are added to app stores. The demand for mobile apps is also growing. Mobile app developers have to cater to this increasing demand in a rapid manner. Enterprise are increasingly utilizing mobility, and this has led to enterprises developing a large number of enterprise mobile apps that cater to their needs. Developing such apps and governing API calls made by those apps in a standard manner thus becomes a major challenge. This is when choosing a proper Mobile Backend as a Service (mBaaS) platform would be immensely helpful. An mBaaS platform provides enterprise Backend as a Service (BaaS) APIs along with enterprise mobility specific APIs. The mBaaS would provide a rich set of APIs that are readily available to mobile app developers that would enable them to rapidly develop mobile applications. Using the mBaaS APIs, the mobile app developers would be able to make effective use of the enterprise assets in a standard, governed, and secured manner, and it would also allow them to connect the mobile apps to the rest of the business organization. Standard SDKs provided with mBaaS also makes developers’ life easier, and enables rapid development of apps without having to worry about platform-specific complexities. In this session, Azeez will take you through the concepts behind mBaaS, how it can be utilized by mobile app developers to accelerate enterprise mobile app development, and how an mBaaS adds value by enabling you to connect your apps to the rest of the enterprise.

In this briefing, I tell about security architecture in .NET Framework 4.0 and later, using AppDomains and Code Access Security (CAS) in various applications, development of their own sandbox, design of pluginable security-sensitive architecture and using sandboxing in ASP.NET applications. I demonstrated the sample of Trusted Chain attack to bypass CAS restrictions.

Apache Syncope is a powerful and flexible open-source Identity Management solution. Apache Camel is an integration framework that comes with a huge list of messaging components. Wouldn't it be cool to be able to plug in an integration framework like Camel into an Identity Management solution like Syncope, so that you can easily write custom routing and mediation rules for Identity provisioning? Well with Syncope 2.0.0 you can do just this with the new Apache Camel provisioning manager! In this talk, we will provide an overview of the exciting new features available in the Apache Syncope 2.0.0 release. In particular, we will focus on how it integrates with Apache Camel. We will go through some practical use-cases to illustrate how to exploit this new feature.

Just because Flask is a micro-framework doesn’t mean we still don’t want to have great AAA (authentication, authorization, and accounting), email services, simplified database access/migrations and form handling. Lets look at some of the most common libraries used to build the powerful simplicity of Flask into a full featured web application without having to reinvent the wheel each time.

SQLAlchemy is a popular database framework that provides an ORM and a schema centric query language, and in this talk we will take a look how to get started with the ORM. We'll learn how to establish connections to popular databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL. Then we will look at how to define our models as user classes including relationships and persist them to the database. Next, we'll cover the how the SQLAlchemy session works with typical create, update, read, and delete operations. We'll wrap up with pointers of where to go next to learn more.

Syngulon’s technology expands the capacity for selection of microorganisms. The ability to select individual microbes with a behavior of interest is essential, whether for simple cloning at the bench, or for industry-scale production. Synthetic biology uses the concept of “bioengineering” to improve or modify existing genetic systems to create microbes with desired behaviors, and Syngulon uses this approach to develop its selection technologies. This selection technology is based on bacteriocins, ribosomally-produced peptides naturally made by most bacteria to kill competitive microbial species. These bacteriocins can have a limited or wide target range against other microbial species. This technology offers advantageous over antibiotic selection for several reasons: it avoids the use of antibiotics in the first place, helping to reduce the spread of antibiotic resistant microbes. The technology also increases product yield; as bacteriocins are generally smaller peptides, they do not impose a heavy metabolic burden on the producing cell. They can have a wide target specificity, helping to avoid genetic drift. Finally, our system is 100% plasmid-based (e.g. without chromosomal mutations), making it applicable for use in any E. coli strains.

How to differentiate Sales Cloud and CPQ on first glance might be tricky if you do not know where to look and what to look at. You will know :-) Managing the sales process within Salesforce is a common use case that can be managed with standart Sales Cloud. If you want to do entire quoting process you will find out Salesforce CPQ solution exists. What is then the difference if both can handle selling products? You will see comparison of 10 different features, which Sales Cloud and Salesforce CPQ handle differently. Simple question you will always remember if you should consider using Salesforce CPQ will be a cherry on top.

Heather Hedden, Senior Consultant at Enterprise Knowledge, presented “Enterprise Knowledge Graphs: The Importance of Semantics” on May 9, 2024, at the annual Data Summit in Boston. In her presentation, Hedden describes the components of an enterprise knowledge graph and provides further insight into the semantic layer – or knowledge model – component, which includes an ontology and controlled vocabularies, such as taxonomies, for controlled metadata. While data experts tend to focus on the graph database components (RDF triple store or a label property graph), Hedden emphasizes they should not overlook the importance of the semantic layer.
