Receiving a scholarship will impact my career gravely, not only will this help me to continue my

nationality; I am a foreigner wherever I go. I am "the American" in Bulgaria, and "the Bulgarian"
in America. I have been called a communist, and have had my Bulgarian heritage generalized to
being "basically like Russia." I know how simultaneously frustrating and painful such experiences
can be. I have been able to deal with this struggles, but I know others are not as fortunate. I can only
imagine how horrible the prejudices people face must be when they cannot hide their differences.

People defend racist remarks as jokes, dismiss activists as entitled children, and ignore the
struggles of marginalized groups. People like Donald Trump rise to power by preaching hate and
encouraging prejudice. At times, I cannot fathom how backwards our world continues to be.
Though real change can seem nearly impossible to achieve, I believe that our nation can work to
be better. I hope that I can be a catalyst for change. I would like to be in the Darwin T. Turner
Scholarship Program because I want to work with people who feel the same way, to help make
difference, however small it may be, that will lead us towards true

Scholarship Essay: College Admissions
Last year, I decided that I wanted to do something important for my community so I volunteered
to be a basketball coach at my church's basketball league. For about 4 months, I got to coach a
team of hyperactive 4th and 5th graders. On the first day of practice, I asked my players what
they wanted to achieve by the end of the season. One of my players said that he wanted to be able
to shoot a three pointer by the end of the season. From then on, I helped him to improve his
shooting. He wasn't the greatest shooter, but he was determined to perfect his shooting skills and I

Josh had set a goal but all he needed was a coach to help guide him. My goal is to become a
pediatric surgeon. However, just like Josh needed a coach I need a college that will help prepare
me to be able to get into medical school. I quickly found that Baylor was the place that would help
me to achieve my goal. The one thing about Baylor that stuck out to me is the overall atmosphere
that Baylor has. Baylor offers the best of two worlds, Baylor is a large research university but has
the feel of a small university. Baylor gives their students all the benefits of a large university such
as unparalleled academics and plentiful research and study abroad programs. They also give the
personal attention and family atmosphere of a small university. Because of this, at Baylor, I can
receive one on one interaction with my professors while also participating in many of the
different organizations and programs that a large university has. For example, the Baylor in
Brazil Program which allows students to travel to several places working with local programs to
promote health while taking classes. If at Baylor, I would love to do this program not only
because it is a global pre med experience but it also allows me to do what I love to do the most
which is to serve others and I know that at Baylor, there are plenty of opportunities for me to serve
other students and other people around the

Athletic-Scholarship Essay
All men are said to be created equal, in my opinion, not all men. Some have a drive that's greater
than most. Everyone wants an Athletic–Scholarship, but not everyone is willing to put in the time,
effort, commitment, dedication and preservation to be the best Student–Athlete representing their
school. For every good in life comes a sacrifice. Nothing valuable is going to come to you and to
obtain something of such value you have to be willing to take a risk. In my life, I've taken many
risk, some that were life changing and change who I am today. Many of my peers take risks and
regret taking them down the line. Taking this risk gave me more time to think about how I wanted to
move forward in regards to my future, getting more involved in my community/activities, and

It wasn't an easy decision since being a multi–sport athlete, I was also a great boxer and football
player. I had love for the sports that I took part in, the potential I had was like no other. I had the
academic qualities and physical attributes to go a long way with all three sports but nothing beats
time. I had to make this decision in order to establish what I was going focus on. I decided to
focus on soccer because this sport takes my mind off everything, I feel like i'm in a different realm
when I play, I don't get that feeling for anything
