Outline And Evaluate Psychopathology
Outline and evaluate the biological approach to psychopathology (24 Marks) Psychopathology is
the study of mental distress and abnormal maladaptive behaviour, there are four approaches to
psychopathology, cognitive, behavioural, psychodynamic and biological. The biological model
of abnormality is split into four parts which can all cause abnormal behaviour these are; Genetic,
Brain injury, Neurotransmitters and Infection. It is believed that faulty genes can cause some
disorders that have a psychological effect. A way in which this can be tested is by doing studies
on twins as they have the similar genetics. McGuffin et al did a study in 1996 where they
compared 109 sets of twins in order to investigate how likely each twin was to develop depression.
They looked at the concordance rates for depression in MZ and DZ twins, they expected that MZ
twins either both have depression or neither have depression. So therefore its expected to find a
higher concordance for depression in MZ twins that in DZ twins. The results showed that if one non
identical twin developed depression that there was a 20% likelihood that the other would too, in
identical twins this rose to 46%. This study therefore proves that genetics can have a massive impact
on abnormality....show more content...
Additionally there is also the fact that we don't know the precise mechanism that is transmitted and
without knowing the specific genes that are involved it makes it hard to understand the functions
that produce symptoms of

Beetlejuice Analytical Review
In the movie Beetlejuice, the theme is that the afterlife is not really the end for us all; we live on a
multiple level world between life and death, and need to respect the dead. The theme is idealistic
and not applicable in real life to all people. Throughout the movie, Burton reveals his take on the
living and life after death and the delicate interaction between the two. The character Otho, played by
Glenn Shadix is key to Burton's interpretation and scrutiny of the afterlife. Throughout the film Otho
makes comments about the dead and even goes as far to steal The Handbook for the Recently
Deceased. Otho comments on those who commit suicide and how they become civil servant s in the
afterlife. Barbra and Adam Maitland, played by Geena...show more content...
Adam swerves the steering wheel while over a bridge to avoid hitting a dog, and as a result the
car is teetering over the edge of the bridge towards the river; the only thing keeping Adam and
Barbra from their tragic death is a dog who's weight on a single plank is sustaining the balance of
the car. Oddly enough, the dog they saved was the one who sent them to their watery grave. It is
uncommon in movies to kill off the main characters early on in the film, but Burton did so in
order to show the audience the shift in the main characters circumstances. The Maitlands return
home soaking wet, without knowing that they are dead but know that something is off; Barbra
informs Adam of her arm feeling frozen, and the two go towards the fire to warm up where
Barbra's hand catches fire. Adam is in a frenzy and flees the dark and barley lit home and is sent
into another dimension (Saturn) where he encounters the giant vicious sandworms and is brought
back to "reality" with the help of his wife. The stop motion special effects for creatures like the
Sandworms look like they were jumping towards the audience, without the need of 3D glasses. The
Maitlands find the Handbook for the Recently Deceased and comically comment that it reads like
stereo instructions. Adam and Barbra find a filler in the handbook for a bio–exorcist named
Betelguese who specializes in the removal of human intruders. This is the first time we are

Postmodernism: Study 1
Postmodernists Beck and Beck–Gernsheim argue that the contemporary UK is characterised by
diversity, variation and instability and see diversity as having a positive impact on society. For
example women no longer aspire exclusively to romantic love, marriage and children. Premarital
sex, serial monogamy, cohabitation, economic independence, single sex relationships and
childlessness are now acceptable alternative lifestyles. Men's roles too are no longer clear cut in
postmodern society resulting in a 'crises of masculinity' and this has led to men redefining both their
sexuality and family commitments. Therefore Beck and Beck–Gernsheim argue that such choice and
diversity has led to a renegotiation of family...show more content...
Phillips argues that family life is in decline, partly due to what she calls a 'flight from parenting'.
Furthermore, people are becoming less willing to accept the demands & responsibilities of being
a parent and this is why they may move from one relationship to another rather than moving for
confluent love. Phillips believes that the traditional family is the building block of our society and
people who are born into traditional families have more stable personalities & closer identification
with each other, therefore diversity & choice may not be such a good alternative for society.
Therefore, we have family diversity because people are no longer willing to participate in traditional
family life.
Evaluation of Study 3
However, Functionalists Murdock (1949) would argue against family diversity as they believe in the
nuclear structure. Contrastingly, Murdock would argue for all families to perform the following
four functions; economic–family members are supported financially; educational– the family is the
primary agency of socialisation; sexual – the family must contain a monogamous couple in order to
keep society stable; finally reproductive as this is essential for the survival of humankind. Therefore,
functionalists would disapprove of diverse families that didn't conform to these particular functions
/stages.
Evaluation of Study 4
However, Parsons (1949) would argue against family diversity as they believe the nuclear structure

Evaluation Of A Presentation On Presentation
Part 3: Evaluate your presentation Evaluation of one to one presentation The final part of this
assessment requires you to evaluate your presentations. Your self– evaluation report should be typed
document and include around 500 words. It should address the following questions and be written
in plain English: 1.What worked well during the presentation? The following areas worked well
during the presentation: Confidence: I have shown the required confidence during the presentation
and questioning time after the presentation. Because I have spent a lot of time to prepare the
information of the presentation topics and get myself familiarized with the information, so when I
was presenting I feel comfortable and confident. Answered audiences' questions: as I have been
knowledgeable with the presentation topics I have been able to answer all the questions raised by
the participants and ensure my answers are detailed and thorough. 2.What did not work well? The
following areas didn't work well during the presentation: Voice: due to the space of the presentation
location some participants who were sitting at the back or in the corner areas are unable to hear my
presentation clearly. I will arrange some audio equipment next time when I need to provide the
presentation in a similar location. Time management: As I have prepared the topics very well and I
would like to provide as much information to the participants as possible during the presentation, I

Evaluation Of A Clinical Evaluation Essay
With the continuous changes in healthcare, evaluation of students' clinical knowledge and skills
relies on the need for continuous evaluation. Evaluation is the process of using data to make
judgements about students' individual performance. Evaluation of clinical performance provides
data from which educators use to judge the extent to which students have acquired specific learning
outcomes (Billings & Halstead, 2016). With the use of best practice evaluation methods, clinical
performance can be evaluated to ensure quality patient care. Educators face a challenging task when
providing evaluation that is fair and reasonable. Tasked with evaluating students in the clinical
setting, educators can evaluate how students integrate theory and apply it to real–life situations.
Observations of performance in the clinical setting should focus on the outcomes to be met and
competencies to be developed (Oermann & Gaberson, 2014). Developing a clinical evaluation tool to
determine whether students can think critically, prioritize problems, and complete patient care
procedures correctly is essential. There are a variety of evaluation methods to use in nursing
education. Depending on the learning outcomes to be measured will determine which tool best
evaluates the students' performance. Clinical practice is an essential and highly significant
component of nursing education. Education programs are obligated to respond to government
requests for well–educated healthcare professionals.

My Evaluation of the Cheesecake Factory
My most favorite of all time restaurants to dine at is The Cheesecake Factory. This restaurant is a
famous corporate chain of restaurants that offers a widespread variety of all types of American
dishes and of course specializes in the most amazing variety of the best tasting cheesecakes. I love
the experience of dining at the Cheesecake factory because the atmosphere is so welcoming and the
artwork on the ceilings make you feel very lavish, the food is great and the service is excellent. A
particular visit last month proved to me that Cheesecake factory lives up to the expectations of its
guests. The cheesecake factory is known for always giving generous portions of food for a ver...show

It came with croutons, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled chicken tossed in ceasar dressing in an enormous
plate. I was so satisfied with my appetizer and the delicious complimentary bread that I had to
order a salad and even that was too much for me to finish. Even though I was too full, I had to
order one of their infamous cheesecakes after all. I ordered the Oreo Extreme which was a special
edition cheesecake and it was big and delicious enough to feed my whole family.
Lastly the service at The Cheesecake Factory caught my attention. As soon as we walked through
the door we heard, "How are you? Welcome to the Cheesecake Factory". We were taken to our
table by our hostess and then we were asked a drink order. Our drinks were received and the order
was taken in a timely manner. The server was very knowledgeable of the menu and was very
polite while taking our order. We were told our order would be put right in, and the drinks with
the complimentary bread came in no time. Then the food arrived and we began to eat. As we ate
our meal the server came over twice to check on us and get us refills. We asked for our check and
it was received and paid very quickly. While dining at The Cheesecake Factory, the service was
fantastic. The server was very attentive and took very good care of us. I enjoyed my experience
impressively and will continue to come back here any chance I get. The Cheesecake Factory
restaurant makes the best out of everyone's visit.

Evaluation Of A Project Proposal
Vice–president Deirlien, I have received the three project proposals for review along with the
information relative to what the company is seeking to gain as a result of project implementation.
Taking those factors into account, my team is prepared to present a project recommendation.
Moving forward it would make the most sense to move forward with two of the three proposed
projects, Project Juniper and Project Stargazer. While these projects are drastically different,
implementing together will serve as the best potential course of action for the company precisely
because of how divergent they are. First, for each project a separate feasibility study was conducted
based on the information that was provided. The diagrams generated as a...show more content...
These factors serve to make it a sound it a sound economic decision to move forward with the
project. Regarding economic feasibility for Project Stargazer the majority of the funds to bring
this product to market have already been allocated and/or spent. This is a positive as it means
that there are less funds which will need to be provided in the future in order to make this project
ready to move forward. Regarding technical feasibility for Project Juniper the product is projected
to be available in the next six months. This is a relatively short amount of time considering that it
will bring a new product to market. It must also be considered that it can be considered that there
is already a market for this product as it is an enhancement of a widget already produced by the
company. Regarding technical feasibility for Project Stargazer some interest in the product has
already been expressed. Additionally, its implementation will make the organization a market
leader. However, it must be noted that it will be necessary to be able to better explain this aspect
of the business as it has caused some confusion. Regarding operational feasibility for Project
Juniper it can be presented that the project represents the least amount of operational risk of all of
the projects presented. As an enhancement on a product already produced by the company, it is
likely that only minor changes to the process design will be necessary, if any changes are required
at all. Regarding

Evaluation Essay On Shrek
Recently, I gave my S.H.I.E.L.D Speech for my Oral Com class, and there were many things I
did to prepare. First, I had to decide what my idea was going to be. I picked Shrek as my shield
because he is awesome and I could tie him into my life without it being too much of a stretch.
After I had chosen my topic, I devised a design for my shield. The final shield design was a giant
Shrek face with smaller faces of the characters Donkey and the Big Bad Wolf to go alongside
Shrek. Then, I began writing my outline. I chose my main points (weirdness, friends, and theatre)
because they related to Shrek. Once I had completed my outline, I practiced with it several times–
twice in class and twice outside of class. It was during my practice outside of class that I realized
that I did not have enough information to give a speech that would last over four minutes just from
my outline. In response to this, I typed exactly what I was going to say, word for word, and
attempted to memorize it, but that didn't go as planned....show more content...
When I gave my speech, I felt confident. I don't exactly have a fear of public speaking– anyone who
knows me could tell you that. I looked out to the entire audience for the entire speech because I
didn't use note cards. I also kept my energy up throughout the speech which helped keep the
audience focused on the speech. I made some jokes, and the audience laughed at most of them,
which was a good feeling. But because I failed to fully memorize the speech, there were times that
I was left trying to figure out the exact phrasing, which took away from the performance slightly,
even though I don't believe it was that big of a deal. I also made a pun by ending my speech with
"My speech is all ogre now" and very few people caught it. This was probably due to my poor

My Argument Evaluation
When I received feedback on my work from both the instructor and my classmates I tried to take
all of what was said into account. Considering no person is the same, they will all feel something
different when they read the essay, I tried to make it so that it wasn't as direct and had more
information within it to explain why I felt my argument was important. This way it is easier for the
audience to read as it is written in a way that can hopefully work for everyone in one way or another.
The challenge I had when developing my argument was the digging I had to do to obtain articles
that worked to help me make it valid. I needed some that supported what my argument was but was
more than words written by a random someone, wanted articles from journals and other reliable
sources. Also, the dates were important too as I didn't want to use...show more content...
I had not mentioned why it was important for others to see my view and how it would effective if
they had. Using that feedback, I had included why seeing addiction as a disease can help with
helping the person seek treatment. If its seen as a choice, we tend to be nasty to them making them
feel worse. If they feel worse, they use more.
When I had initially shared a paragraph on the discussion board I hadn't included my sources at all.
In the final paper, I made sure to cite everything that was not my own and placed all sources at the
end of the paper so that every source is listed.
My sources helped my claim as they supported what I was stating about addiction. When saying
that the addicts changes in ways, I had evidence of brain scans that showed differences in certain
areas of the brain which also explained why the person would have a sudden change in behavior.
Also, I had statistics to show that mental illnesses were a part of addiction. My biggest challenge
was trying to get everything together in a way that flowed well and made

On the other hand some customers look for products that meet their overall needs, customer service
and no contacts. Companies that focus on this Value Discipline will outperform their competitions.
To be successful it takes more than Value Discipline understanding and determination to listen to
each other. Apple Inc. Grand Strategy The success of Apple Inc. can be credited to the strategic
plans implemented to create the culture and products being developed today. The grand strategy of
Apple Inc. provides basic direction for major actions directed toward achieving long term business
objectives (Pearce, 2011, p. 188). The best grand strategy for Apple Inc. to implement is product
development and innovation. Product development involves the substantial modification of existing
products that can be marketed to current customers (Pearce, 2011, p. 193). Apple Inc. has established
loyal customers based on their quality of product and brand names. It is a trusted brand that thrives
in product development. The iPad, iPhone, and iPod are only some of their top selling products that
continue to be improved. The overall goal of this strategy is to extend the products life cycle.
Innovation is another grand strategy used throughout Apple Inc. Similar to product development,
but it differs in the sense that it seeks to create a new product life cycle as opposed to extending
one (Pearce, 2011, p. 194). A recent

Employee Performance Evaluations Essay example
A. Employee performance evaluations and how they are handled can be important in influencing an
employee's behavior. In the scenario given, the manager evaluated the engineer on three criteria last
year, friendliness, neatness of workspace, and attitude. These criteria are concerning because there
is little that can be accurately measured. The criteria rely heavily on relationships and personal
characteristics. The engineer is judged on friendliness and given a medium rating. The engineer is
said to be standoffish with coworkers, even though the coworkers are playing practical jokes on the
engineer. Secondly, the engineer is judged on neatness of workspace. The engineer is given a
low–medium score due to clutter and piles of papers....show more content...
B.The manager in the scenario should be using one common approach to evaluating all employees.
By focusing on personal characteristics and relationships, the manager has lost the confidence of
the engineer. Based on the manager's criteria the engineer will be under rewarded for his efforts.
By using his or her own criteria the manager failed to recognize the savings on manufacturing
energy costs and the safety hazards the engineer corrected. If the manager had been using
individual task outcomes, behaviors, and traits the engineer would have scored much higher on the
performance evaluation. It is important to have one consistent set of measurement across all
employees. This is because of the relative difficulty in ranking employees based on performance
alone. C.Traditionally, managers have taken on the role of evaluating employee performance. In
today's changing world, it has become more common to allow other supervisors, peers, and
subordinates participate in performance evaluations. It has been shown that by increasing the
number of raters a more reliable, unbiased, and accurate performance evaluations can be obtained
(Robbins & Judge, 2007). Companies that use multiple raters on performance evaluations are
allowing more participation in the review process and are in turn seeing more accurate analysis of
their employees. D.There are a few disadvantages to doing these types of group

Self Evaluation
To be honest, I have never really enjoyed writing that much. Even though I don't enjoy the activity,
years of english classes have made it easier and more bearable for me. In addition these classes
have taught me numerous techniques and tips for crafting a fine paper. Even though I have a few

structure essays. When I write a larger paper I start with an outline that plans out my introduction,
main points, sub–points, and conclusion. This outline helps me organize my thoughts, so when it
comes to writing my actual essay the process is faster and my ideas are coherent and easier to

1.I was assigned to evaluate Erica. Her organization was based on an informative outline with
point A and B. She did a good job informing us about healthy foods and had a clear thesis in her
introduction. Her 3 main goals did stand out clear from one another and for the most part, her
points build upon each other to create a clear message. However, during her speech, I found
myself confused when she moved from one point on to the next because her transitions seemed all
over the place. The power point showing the stats was a bit confusing because it was a challenge to
make out the graphs. 2.Erica's personality shined through during her speech. She did a great job on
using that to her advantage to gain the attention of the whole class. One statement that really caught
the attention of the class was when she said, "if I see you on your phone, I'm calling you out on it."
Also, Erica used the 5 methods of support well by telling us about personal stories related to her

As a Spanish speaking native, I had difficulty with writing essays in English. I grew up taking
English classes throughout all my school life, in Puerto Rico, but it was just basic level. My last
English college course was with a US 5th grade book, so you can imagine how basic was that
course. It was a drastic change from that type of course to this level of English Composition. This
course, albeit short, has teaches me a lot about the mechanics and grammar that writing an essay
entails. Before this course, I use to choose the topic, looked some of the information I needed it, and
started writing without a goal or any definition, in terms of process. Now, I know that I have to

When I first saw it as one of the task for the week, I was shock and didn't know what to do or how
to do it. The guideline questions help me a lot to see what I normally wouldn't pay attention to. In

also I learnt to disconnect myself and evaluate my paper as of someone else written it. I was able
to see different styles of writing and learn about different topics throughout these five weeks. Other
advantage of peer review process is that the readers may not know anything about your topic, but by
the time they finish it, they should understand what you're talking about, this gives you something
to keep in mind when you are writing essay. One of the disadvantage of peer review that I could see
is that we are all learning at the same time; and even though the suggestions, and comments might
be well intendent sometimes they are not always accurate. We are all on the same boat, I

Outline and Evaluate one or more explanations of why people obey It has been found by Milgram
that people obey for four main reasons these are; legitimate authority, the momentum of
compliance, the agentic shift and passivity. The first reason that Milgram found that people obey
is because people feel like they have to obey someone if they have a high social status or a highly
respected job, this is called legitimate authority. Bickman (1974) supported this theory by doing an
experiment on the streets of New York. Bickman had three men dress up as a policeman, a guard
and a regular passerby in a shirt and tie, he then had the three men ask other passerby's to either pay
a parking fine or pick something of the floor, it was found that...show more content...
The second reason people obey is called the momentum of compliance. Otherwise known as the
'foot in the door' technique, it is usually used by salesmen as they are trying to sell items, they start
up with the smaller items and work their way up to the bigger, more costly items. Smith and Mackie
(2003) found that similar processes take part in real–life crimes where criminals usually work their
way up from smaller crimes to bigger, life threatening crimes. Milgram found that the momentum of
compliance was found in his experiment, as the switches were going up in only 15v each time the
participant started small and worked their way up to the bigger shocks and then without it actually
hitting home, they've actually killed someone but they weren't able to stop. Like the well–known
Pringles saying 'once you pop you can't stop'. The third reason for why people obey is when a
person shifts from the autonomous state to the agentic state; this is called the agentic shift.
Milgrams participants believed they were 'just following orders' and did not consider themselves
responsible; his participants even sighed with relief when the experimenter said "I am responsible
for what happens here." Evidence from war criminals, has shown that Eichmann, who was trialled
and found guilty for the Nazi war killings as he was the man who organized which camps the
Jewish people would end up at, said "it wasn't my

Speech to Explain: Self Evaluation
For this speech I choose to have my topic be something I have a strong personal connection to
which was Rave culture, its history and practices. Choosing this to be my topic of choice I was able
to be motivated in researching it and I believe my genuine interest in the topic showed in my
presentation. In this self–eval I will be discussing the structure and style along with what I am taking
away from this speech.
First, I will be talking about the structure of my speech. When doing a speech to explain, like any
other speech it's important to have a clear and organized pattern. Essentially when creating my
outline for the speech I had made sure to have a clear and engaging intro and hook, meant to
clearly state my theme and then jump into the topic. Unfortunately when presenting the speech I
was unable to present my introduction as I would have liked and forgot to even mention my theme.
I was not very effective in my introduction but knowing so at my conclusion I was sure to clearly
state my theme. However,I believe my concluding sentence could have been more clear. To improve
I should in the future reinstate my topics and go over key points and leave the audience with
psychological closure rather than abruptly saying "that was all, thank you".
I felt that it would have been beneficial for me to use more visual aids in presenting my topic.
Rather than just talking about my topic and the music, I feel that if I showed some actual footage

Without this layer of gases the Earth would be too cold to be inhabited, perhaps 20 degrees cooler
than now. But, then amount of gases in this layer must remain constant. Even a slight increase could
have drastic results. Many people believe that a one degree increase in the temperature will not
cause much harm. The truth is with every degree of increase in temperature a 100 more wildlife
species are put in danger of extinction. Numerous experiments and studies prove that an increased
level of greenhouse gases, mainly carbon dioxide, is causing climate change and causing it fast.
2) Human Activities
A) Burning of fossil fuels–This is the most prominent and deadly source of climate change. Burning
of fossil fuels can release greenhouse gases ranging from carbon dioxide to ammonia. With massive
industrialization currently going on, the amount of fossil fuels burned is increasing. Transport and
heating are also major energy sources. Almost 7 giga tonnes of Carbon dioxide is emitted per year.
In the U.K three–fourths of energy produced comes from fossil fuels. Mineral fuels like petroleum
and coal are major sources of energy. In the last 150 years more than 45 Billion tonnes of carbon
dioxide has been emitted .The most problematic factor is that in the last decade; there has been no
slowdown in carbon emissions.
B) Poor use of land–Plants are the only natural purifiers of air and also the most abundant. But,

My Self-Evaluation Of Speech
This paper will discuss mine self–evaluation and do into detail about my first speech. My first
speech takes place in front of my class and I have to tell a story of an experience that has
happened to me. Telling a speech was a new experience for me and I embrace the challenge. A
speech can have an impact on a person life and the audience can also relate a topic that is being
presented. I will explore and go into the details of ethos, pathos and logos of my speech for my
personal assessment. I think I did a good job presenting my ethos through my speech story. I
convince my audience with my credibility through my speech and the way how talk throughout
the speech. For example, throughout my whole speech, I shown my hands and did not hide my
hands. By keeping my hands in plain view, it shows my audience nonverbally that I can be
trusted. The volume of my voice was at a normal speaking tone and was not too low. Most of my
audience was able to hear me and listen to me very clearly. I also presented myself with
confidence and gave off the impression that I was prepared. For example, I had a smile and had
constant eye contact with my audience throughout my speech. There was certain things that I was
doing that was ineffective while I was talking. Throughout my speech, I kept saying um and was
pausing at times. I did not realize how much I was saying and doing these actions. These actions are
something I need to work on more when I present my public communication to my audience

English 111 introduces students to critical thinking and the fundamentals of academic writing. This
is a prerequisite English class for higher–level English education. By the end of this course a student
will have gained a great deal of practice in the craft of writing. This essay will evaluate the English
111 textbooks, essays, self–reflections, the instructor, and what I personally learned. The English 111
textbook had effective sample essays and diagrams of outlines. The Successful College Writing
Textbook is the textbook used for the English 111 course. This textbook had great sample essays
because they showed useful examples of transition words and phrases. These sample essays also
gave a guideline for writing a proper essay. The diagrams in the textbook were extremely sufficient.
The diagrams were of the outline of a certain essay. These were remarkably helpful when mapping
out an essay. These sample essays and diagrams of outlines were excellent samples of writing. The
essays in English 111 consist of an argument essay, compare and contrast essay, and a research
essay. The argument essay is when you gather evidence and present a well–reasoned argument on a
debatable issue. On this essay I chose to do an argumentative paper on abortion. I listed the issues
with abortion and then stated my opinion. The main goal of an argument essay is setting out to
persuade the reader to agree with your position on a topic. The purpose of a compare and contrast
essay is to

Evaluation Essay Outline

  • 1. Outline And Evaluate Psychopathology Outline and evaluate the biological approach to psychopathology (24 Marks) Psychopathology is the study of mental distress and abnormal maladaptive behaviour, there are four approaches to psychopathology, cognitive, behavioural, psychodynamic and biological. The biological model of abnormality is split into four parts which can all cause abnormal behaviour these are; Genetic, Brain injury, Neurotransmitters and Infection. It is believed that faulty genes can cause some disorders that have a psychological effect. A way in which this can be tested is by doing studies on twins as they have the similar genetics. McGuffin et al did a study in 1996 where they compared 109 sets of twins in order to investigate how likely each twin was to develop depression. They looked at the concordance rates for depression in MZ and DZ twins, they expected that MZ twins either both have depression or neither have depression. So therefore its expected to find a higher concordance for depression in MZ twins that in DZ twins. The results showed that if one non identical twin developed depression that there was a 20% likelihood that the other would too, in identical twins this rose to 46%. This study therefore proves that genetics can have a massive impact on abnormality....show more content... Additionally there is also the fact that we don't know the precise mechanism that is transmitted and without knowing the specific genes that are involved it makes it hard to understand the functions that produce symptoms of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Beetlejuice Analytical Review In the movie Beetlejuice, the theme is that the afterlife is not really the end for us all; we live on a multiple level world between life and death, and need to respect the dead. The theme is idealistic and not applicable in real life to all people. Throughout the movie, Burton reveals his take on the living and life after death and the delicate interaction between the two. The character Otho, played by Glenn Shadix is key to Burton's interpretation and scrutiny of the afterlife. Throughout the film Otho makes comments about the dead and even goes as far to steal The Handbook for the Recently Deceased. Otho comments on those who commit suicide and how they become civil servant s in the afterlife. Barbra and Adam Maitland, played by Geena...show more content... Adam swerves the steering wheel while over a bridge to avoid hitting a dog, and as a result the car is teetering over the edge of the bridge towards the river; the only thing keeping Adam and Barbra from their tragic death is a dog who's weight on a single plank is sustaining the balance of the car. Oddly enough, the dog they saved was the one who sent them to their watery grave. It is uncommon in movies to kill off the main characters early on in the film, but Burton did so in order to show the audience the shift in the main characters circumstances. The Maitlands return home soaking wet, without knowing that they are dead but know that something is off; Barbra informs Adam of her arm feeling frozen, and the two go towards the fire to warm up where Barbra's hand catches fire. Adam is in a frenzy and flees the dark and barley lit home and is sent into another dimension (Saturn) where he encounters the giant vicious sandworms and is brought back to "reality" with the help of his wife. The stop motion special effects for creatures like the Sandworms look like they were jumping towards the audience, without the need of 3D glasses. The Maitlands find the Handbook for the Recently Deceased and comically comment that it reads like stereo instructions. Adam and Barbra find a filler in the handbook for a bio–exorcist named Betelguese who specializes in the removal of human intruders. This is the first time we are introduced to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Postmodernism: Study 1 Postmodernists Beck and Beck–Gernsheim argue that the contemporary UK is characterised by diversity, variation and instability and see diversity as having a positive impact on society. For example women no longer aspire exclusively to romantic love, marriage and children. Premarital sex, serial monogamy, cohabitation, economic independence, single sex relationships and childlessness are now acceptable alternative lifestyles. Men's roles too are no longer clear cut in postmodern society resulting in a 'crises of masculinity' and this has led to men redefining both their sexuality and family commitments. Therefore Beck and Beck–Gernsheim argue that such choice and diversity has led to a renegotiation of family...show more content... Phillips argues that family life is in decline, partly due to what she calls a 'flight from parenting'. Furthermore, people are becoming less willing to accept the demands & responsibilities of being a parent and this is why they may move from one relationship to another rather than moving for confluent love. Phillips believes that the traditional family is the building block of our society and people who are born into traditional families have more stable personalities & closer identification with each other, therefore diversity & choice may not be such a good alternative for society. Therefore, we have family diversity because people are no longer willing to participate in traditional family life. Evaluation of Study 3 However, Functionalists Murdock (1949) would argue against family diversity as they believe in the nuclear structure. Contrastingly, Murdock would argue for all families to perform the following four functions; economic–family members are supported financially; educational– the family is the primary agency of socialisation; sexual – the family must contain a monogamous couple in order to keep society stable; finally reproductive as this is essential for the survival of humankind. Therefore, functionalists would disapprove of diverse families that didn't conform to these particular functions /stages. Evaluation of Study 4 However, Parsons (1949) would argue against family diversity as they believe the nuclear structure is a better 'fit' Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The following areas worked well during the presentation: Confidence: I have shown the required confidence during the presentation and questioning time after the presentation. Because I have spent a lot of time to prepare the information of the presentation topics and get myself familiarized with the information, so when I was presenting I feel comfortable and confident. Answered audiences' questions: as I have been knowledgeable with the presentation topics I have been able to answer all the questions raised by the participants and ensure my answers are detailed and thorough. 2.What did not work well? • 5. Evaluation Of A Clinical Evaluation Essay With the continuous changes in healthcare, evaluation of students' clinical knowledge and skills relies on the need for continuous evaluation. Evaluation is the process of using data to make judgements about students' individual performance. Evaluation of clinical performance provides data from which educators use to judge the extent to which students have acquired specific learning outcomes (Billings & Halstead, 2016). With the use of best practice evaluation methods, clinical performance can be evaluated to ensure quality patient care. Educators face a challenging task when providing evaluation that is fair and reasonable. Tasked with evaluating students in the clinical setting, educators can evaluate how students integrate theory and apply it to real–life situations. Observations of performance in the clinical setting should focus on the outcomes to be met and competencies to be developed (Oermann & Gaberson, 2014). Developing a clinical evaluation tool to determine whether students can think critically, prioritize problems, and complete patient care procedures correctly is essential. There are a variety of evaluation methods to use in nursing education. Depending on the learning outcomes to be measured will determine which tool best evaluates the students' performance. Clinical practice is an essential and highly significant component of nursing education. Education programs are obligated to respond to government requests for well–educated healthcare professionals. This restaurant is a famous corporate chain of restaurants that offers a widespread variety of all types of American dishes and of course specializes in the most amazing variety of the best tasting cheesecakes. I love the experience of dining at the Cheesecake factory because the atmosphere is so welcoming and the artwork on the ceilings make you feel very lavish, the food is great and the service is excellent. A particular visit last month proved to me that Cheesecake factory lives up to the expectations of its guests. The cheesecake factory is known for always giving generous portions of food for a ver...show more content... It came with croutons, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled chicken tossed in ceasar dressing in an enormous plate. I was so satisfied with my appetizer and the delicious complimentary bread that I had to order a salad and even that was too much for me to finish. Even though I was too full, I had to order one of their infamous cheesecakes after all. I ordered the Oreo Extreme which was a special edition cheesecake and it was big and delicious enough to feed my whole family. Lastly the service at The Cheesecake Factory caught my attention. As soon as we walked through the door we heard, "How are you? Welcome to the Cheesecake Factory". We were taken to our table by our hostess and then we were asked a drink order. Our drinks were received and the order was taken in a timely manner. The server was very knowledgeable of the menu and was very polite while taking our order. We were told our order would be put right in, and the drinks with the complimentary bread came in no time. Then the food arrived and we began to eat. As we ate our meal the server came over twice to check on us and get us refills. We asked for our check and it was received and paid very quickly. While dining at The Cheesecake Factory, the service was fantastic. The server was very attentive and took very good care of us. I enjoyed my experience impressively and will continue to come back here any chance I get. The Cheesecake Factory restaurant makes the best out of everyone's visit. • 7. Evaluation Of A Project Proposal Vice–president Deirlien, I have received the three project proposals for review along with the information relative to what the company is seeking to gain as a result of project implementation. Taking those factors into account, my team is prepared to present a project recommendation. Moving forward it would make the most sense to move forward with two of the three proposed projects, Project Juniper and Project Stargazer. While these projects are drastically different, implementing together will serve as the best potential course of action for the company precisely because of how divergent they are. First, for each project a separate feasibility study was conducted based on the information that was provided. The diagrams generated as a...show more content... These factors serve to make it a sound it a sound economic decision to move forward with the project. Regarding economic feasibility for Project Stargazer the majority of the funds to bring this product to market have already been allocated and/or spent. This is a positive as it means that there are less funds which will need to be provided in the future in order to make this project ready to move forward. Regarding technical feasibility for Project Juniper the product is projected to be available in the next six months. This is a relatively short amount of time considering that it will bring a new product to market. It must also be considered that it can be considered that there is already a market for this product as it is an enhancement of a widget already produced by the company. Regarding technical feasibility for Project Stargazer some interest in the product has already been expressed. Additionally, its implementation will make the organization a market leader. However, it must be noted that it will be necessary to be able to better explain this aspect of the business as it has caused some confusion. Regarding operational feasibility for Project Juniper it can be presented that the project represents the least amount of operational risk of all of the projects presented. As an enhancement on a product already produced by the company, it is likely that only minor changes to the process design will be necessary, if any changes are required at all. • 8. Evaluation Essay On Shrek Recently, I gave my S.H.I.E.L.D Speech for my Oral Com class, and there were many things I did to prepare. First, I had to decide what my idea was going to be. I picked Shrek as my shield because he is awesome and I could tie him into my life without it being too much of a stretch. After I had chosen my topic, I devised a design for my shield. The final shield design was a giant Shrek face with smaller faces of the characters Donkey and the Big Bad Wolf to go alongside Shrek. Then, I began writing my outline. I chose my main points (weirdness, friends, and theatre) because they related to Shrek. Once I had completed my outline, I practiced with it several times– twice in class and twice outside of class. It was during my practice outside of class that I realized that I did not have enough information to give a speech that would last over four minutes just from my outline. In response to this, I typed exactly what I was going to say, word for word, and attempted to memorize it, but that didn't go as planned....show more content... When I gave my speech, I felt confident. I don't exactly have a fear of public speaking– anyone who knows me could tell you that. I looked out to the entire audience for the entire speech because I didn't use note cards. I also kept my energy up throughout the speech which helped keep the audience focused on the speech. I made some jokes, and the audience laughed at most of them, which was a good feeling. But because I failed to fully memorize the speech, there were times that I was left trying to figure out the exact phrasing, which took away from the performance slightly, even though I don't believe it was that big of a deal. Considering no person is the same, they will all feel something different when they read the essay, I tried to make it so that it wasn't as direct and had more information within it to explain why I felt my argument was important. This way it is easier for the audience to read as it is written in a way that can hopefully work for everyone in one way or another. The challenge I had when developing my argument was the digging I had to do to obtain articles that worked to help me make it valid. I needed some that supported what my argument was but was more than words written by a random someone, wanted articles from journals and other reliable sources. Also, the dates were important too as I didn't want to use...show more content... I had not mentioned why it was important for others to see my view and how it would effective if they had. Using that feedback, I had included why seeing addiction as a disease can help with helping the person seek treatment. If its seen as a choice, we tend to be nasty to them making them feel worse. If they feel worse, they use more. When I had initially shared a paragraph on the discussion board I hadn't included my sources at all. In the final paper, I made sure to cite everything that was not my own and placed all sources at the end of the paper so that every source is listed. My sources helped my claim as they supported what I was stating about addiction. When saying that the addicts changes in ways, I had evidence of brain scans that showed differences in certain areas of the brain which also explained why the person would have a sudden change in behavior. Also, I had statistics to show that mental illnesses were a part of addiction. My biggest challenge was trying to get everything together in a way that flowed well and made Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The grand strategy of Apple Inc. provides basic direction for major actions directed toward achieving long term business objectives (Pearce, 2011, p. 188). The best grand strategy for Apple Inc. to implement is product development and innovation. Product development involves the substantial modification of existing products that can be marketed to current customers (Pearce, 2011, p. 193). Apple Inc. has established loyal customers based on their quality of product and brand names. It is a trusted brand that thrives in product development. The iPad, iPhone, and iPod are only some of their top selling products that continue to be improved. The overall goal of this strategy is to extend the products life cycle. Innovation is another grand strategy used throughout Apple Inc. Similar to product development, but it differs in the sense that it seeks to create a new product life cycle as opposed to extending one (Pearce, 2011, p. 194). • 11. Employee Performance Evaluations Essay example A. Employee performance evaluations and how they are handled can be important in influencing an employee's behavior. In the scenario given, the manager evaluated the engineer on three criteria last year, friendliness, neatness of workspace, and attitude. These criteria are concerning because there is little that can be accurately measured. The criteria rely heavily on relationships and personal characteristics. The engineer is judged on friendliness and given a medium rating. The engineer is said to be standoffish with coworkers, even though the coworkers are playing practical jokes on the engineer. Secondly, the engineer is judged on neatness of workspace. The engineer is given a low–medium score due to clutter and piles of papers....show more content... B.The manager in the scenario should be using one common approach to evaluating all employees. By focusing on personal characteristics and relationships, the manager has lost the confidence of the engineer. Based on the manager's criteria the engineer will be under rewarded for his efforts. By using his or her own criteria the manager failed to recognize the savings on manufacturing energy costs and the safety hazards the engineer corrected. If the manager had been using individual task outcomes, behaviors, and traits the engineer would have scored much higher on the performance evaluation. It is important to have one consistent set of measurement across all employees. This is because of the relative difficulty in ranking employees based on performance alone. C.Traditionally, managers have taken on the role of evaluating employee performance. In today's changing world, it has become more common to allow other supervisors, peers, and subordinates participate in performance evaluations. It has been shown that by increasing the number of raters a more reliable, unbiased, and accurate performance evaluations can be obtained (Robbins & Judge, 2007). Companies that use multiple raters on performance evaluations are allowing more participation in the review process and are in turn seeing more accurate analysis of their employees. • 13. Self Evaluation Of My Writing Self Evaluation To be honest, I have never really enjoyed writing that much. Even though I don't enjoy the activity, years of english classes have made it easier and more bearable for me. In addition these classes have taught me numerous techniques and tips for crafting a fine paper. Even though I have a few good qualities that make me a decent writer, I believe that my greatest one is my ability to plan and structure essays. When I write a larger paper I start with an outline that plans out my introduction, main points, sub–points, and conclusion. This outline helps me organize my thoughts, so when it comes to writing my actual essay the process is faster and my ideas are coherent and easier to understand. • 14. Personal Narrative Evaluation Outline 1.I was assigned to evaluate Erica. Her organization was based on an informative outline with point A and B. She did a good job informing us about healthy foods and had a clear thesis in her introduction. Her 3 main goals did stand out clear from one another and for the most part, her points build upon each other to create a clear message. However, during her speech, I found myself confused when she moved from one point on to the next because her transitions seemed all over the place. The power point showing the stats was a bit confusing because it was a challenge to make out the graphs. 2.Erica's personality shined through during her speech. She did a great job on using that to her advantage to gain the attention of the whole class. One statement that really caught the attention of the class was when she said, "if I see you on your phone, I'm calling you out on it." Also, Erica used the 5 methods of support well by telling us about personal stories related to her speech subject but at times, it felt hard to distinguish between her subjective, narrative, and illustrative supports. The military versions of it have defended our nation from foreign and domestic enemies. My nerdy side for my interest in wanting to know how things work or the engineering aspect of it. • 15. Peer Review Evaluation As a Spanish speaking native, I had difficulty with writing essays in English. I grew up taking English classes throughout all my school life, in Puerto Rico, but it was just basic level. My last English college course was with a US 5th grade book, so you can imagine how basic was that course. It was a drastic change from that type of course to this level of English Composition. This course, albeit short, has teaches me a lot about the mechanics and grammar that writing an essay entails. Before this course, I use to choose the topic, looked some of the information I needed it, and started writing without a goal or any definition, in terms of process. Now, I know that I have to choose the topic, do the research, develop a thesis statement, outline...show more content... In evaluating my peers essay I learnt a lot about what I could do to better myself on my own writing, also I learnt to disconnect myself and evaluate my paper as of someone else written it. I was able to see different styles of writing and learn about different topics throughout these five weeks. Other advantage of peer review process is that the readers may not know anything about your topic, but by the time they finish it, they should understand what you're talking about, this gives you something to keep in mind when you are writing essay. One of the disadvantage of peer review that I could see is that we are all learning at the same time; and even though the suggestions, and comments might be well intendent sometimes they are not always accurate. We are all on the same boat, I apologize if I made any mistakes with my suggestions, and I appreciate all you guys help me during the peer reviews. • 16. Outline and Evaluate one or more explanations of why people obey It has been found by Milgram that people obey for four main reasons these are; legitimate authority, the momentum of compliance, the agentic shift and passivity. The first reason that Milgram found that people obey is because people feel like they have to obey someone if they have a high social status or a highly respected job, this is called legitimate authority. Bickman (1974) supported this theory by doing an experiment on the streets of New York. Bickman had three men dress up as a policeman, a guard and a regular passerby in a shirt and tie, he then had the three men ask other passerby's to either pay a parking fine or pick something of the floor, it was found that...show more content... The second reason people obey is called the momentum of compliance. Otherwise known as the 'foot in the door' technique, it is usually used by salesmen as they are trying to sell items, they start up with the smaller items and work their way up to the bigger, more costly items. Smith and Mackie (2003) found that similar processes take part in real–life crimes where criminals usually work their way up from smaller crimes to bigger, life threatening crimes. Milgram found that the momentum of compliance was found in his experiment, as the switches were going up in only 15v each time the participant started small and worked their way up to the bigger shocks and then without it actually hitting home, they've actually killed someone but they weren't able to stop. Like the well–known Pringles saying 'once you pop you can't stop'. The third reason for why people obey is when a person shifts from the autonomous state to the agentic state; this is called the agentic shift. Milgrams participants believed they were 'just following orders' and did not consider themselves responsible; his participants even sighed with relief when the experimenter said "I am responsible for what happens here." Evidence from war criminals, has shown that Eichmann, who was trialled and found guilty for the Nazi war killings as he was the man who organized which camps the Jewish people would end up at, said "it wasn't my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Speech On Self Evaluation Speech to Explain: Self Evaluation For this speech I choose to have my topic be something I have a strong personal connection to which was Rave culture, its history and practices. Choosing this to be my topic of choice I was able to be motivated in researching it and I believe my genuine interest in the topic showed in my presentation. In this self–eval I will be discussing the structure and style along with what I am taking away from this speech. First, I will be talking about the structure of my speech. When doing a speech to explain, like any other speech it's important to have a clear and organized pattern. Essentially when creating my outline for the speech I had made sure to have a clear and engaging intro and hook, meant to clearly state my theme and then jump into the topic. Unfortunately when presenting the speech I was unable to present my introduction as I would have liked and forgot to even mention my theme. I was not very effective in my introduction but knowing so at my conclusion I was sure to clearly state my theme. However,I believe my concluding sentence could have been more clear. To improve I should in the future reinstate my topics and go over key points and leave the audience with psychological closure rather than abruptly saying "that was all, thank you". I felt that it would have been beneficial for me to use more visual aids in presenting my topic. Rather than just talking about my topic and the music, I feel that if I showed some actual footage Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The truth is with every degree of increase in temperature a 100 more wildlife species are put in danger of extinction. Numerous experiments and studies prove that an increased level of greenhouse gases, mainly carbon dioxide, is causing climate change and causing it fast. 2) Human Activities A) Burning of fossil fuels–This is the most prominent and deadly source of climate change. Burning of fossil fuels can release greenhouse gases ranging from carbon dioxide to ammonia. With massive industrialization currently going on, the amount of fossil fuels burned is increasing. Transport and heating are also major energy sources. Almost 7 giga tonnes of Carbon dioxide is emitted per year. In the U.K three–fourths of energy produced comes from fossil fuels. Mineral fuels like petroleum and coal are major sources of energy. In the last 150 years more than 45 Billion tonnes of carbon dioxide has been emitted .The most problematic factor is that in the last decade; there has been no slowdown in carbon emissions. • 19. My Self-Evaluation Of Speech This paper will discuss mine self–evaluation and do into detail about my first speech. My first speech takes place in front of my class and I have to tell a story of an experience that has happened to me. Telling a speech was a new experience for me and I embrace the challenge. A speech can have an impact on a person life and the audience can also relate a topic that is being presented. I will explore and go into the details of ethos, pathos and logos of my speech for my personal assessment. I think I did a good job presenting my ethos through my speech story. I convince my audience with my credibility through my speech and the way how talk throughout the speech. For example, throughout my whole speech, I shown my hands and did not hide my hands. By keeping my hands in plain view, it shows my audience nonverbally that I can be trusted. The volume of my voice was at a normal speaking tone and was not too low. Most of my audience was able to hear me and listen to me very clearly. I also presented myself with confidence and gave off the impression that I was prepared. For example, I had a smile and had constant eye contact with my audience throughout my speech. There was certain things that I was doing that was ineffective while I was talking. Throughout my speech, I kept saying um and was pausing at times. I did not realize how much I was saying and doing these actions. These actions are something I need to work on more when I present my public communication to my audience Get more content on HelpWriting.net

This essay will evaluate the English 111 textbooks, essays, self–reflections, the instructor, and what I personally learned. The English 111 textbook had effective sample essays and diagrams of outlines. The Successful College Writing Textbook is the textbook used for the English 111 course. This textbook had great sample essays because they showed useful examples of transition words and phrases. These sample essays also gave a guideline for writing a proper essay. The diagrams in the textbook were extremely sufficient. The diagrams were of the outline of a certain essay. These were remarkably helpful when mapping out an essay. These sample essays and diagrams of outlines were excellent samples of writing. The essays in English 111 consist of an argument essay, compare and contrast essay, and a research essay. The argument essay is when you gather evidence and present a well–reasoned argument on a debatable issue. On this essay I chose to do an argumentative paper on abortion.
