14. Academic History
• In 2021 I finished my GSCES and achieved a B in art and design. I
had to create a final book which portrayed as a portfolio with
artwork, research and experimentation. I learned how to lay out my
pages in an effective way so that important information was most
eye catching as well as different particle techniques in painting,
drawing, sculpting etc. in my research I had to do a lot of
photography which sparked an interest with cameras. My art
teacher noticed I had gained an interest in camera and showed me
different projects from previous years of is a level photograph and
art and design students. There were multiple projects that were
short films and music videos. I liked the idea of creating my own
projects that I could have control of the camera and decide what to
shoot. He told me I could start working with camera and film my
own project when we had a free term but then covid happened and
I wasn’t able to do it with me completing my GSCES.
15. Current Study
• In fall of 2021 I started year 1 of a level 3 creative media course that
has allowed me to experiment with different media types and
different software's. At the beginning of the course I looked at
music videos and created my own. This allowed me to use camera,
film footage and edit the video in premiere pro. I then create an
audio horror story and experimented with my own foley and the
use of adobe audition. I used photoshop to create a game
animation, movie posters, magazine coves and magazine spreads.
For my final project I chose to do photography and videography.
Using the skills I learned in the year course I took concert photos,
portraits and architecture landscapes while also shooting a
showreel. Taking theses photos and shooting the showreel allowed
me to get a better understanding on what its like to work in those
environments. I used Photoshop editing to edit my photography
and premiere pro to edit my showreel. Doing these subjects
allowed me to learn and get guidance from my tutor an work in a
tea to create a project from my classmates.
16. The Future
• I know I have and interest in cameras and I know that
doing photography, videography or videography is
what I've enjoyed most doing college and my free time.
I have always ha a huge interest in film and television
and always loved the cinematography in them,
however in the last year I've gained an interest in
concert photography. I would like the opportunity to
study one and do the other as a hobby therefore Doing
film or media at university will help me to learn off
more tutors that have had experience within the
industry and to help guide me to build my career.
17. Outside College
Previously I have had a job working in hospitality
industry working in multiple locations of a café.
Working there for several months taught me
about communication and helped me
understand the importance of working in a team
which I've then applied to my college work.
18. Conclusion
• With getting a better knowledge of the
industry and getting so experience work that
I've wanted to do in college, going to
university will help me learn the ins and out of
the industry I would want to work in, give me
the opportunity to learn from professionals
and allow me to make my own project. The
outcome goal is to produce films that I'm
proud of and work as a cinematographer or a
freelance videographer/photographer.
19. Introduction
• I want to study the making of film or media
and photography in university so that in the
future I have the options of becoming a
cinematographer, videographer or
photographer. I enjoy working with camera
and want to learn from tutors that have had
experience working in the industry. I hope
when finishing university it will give me some
connections so I can make a nae for myself
and have a possibility of freelancing.
21. Which projects have you enjoyed most
this year & why?
• I enjoyed the music video project and my final
project. I think I enjoyed these subjects the
most because of the creative freedom I had
with a camera and the editing process. I
always enjoyed filming my production and
taking photos, experimenting with what
setting does what and how it effects the final
product. The enjoyed using premiere pro and
Photoshop the most compared to adobe
audition.
22. Which projects have you least enjoyed
[& why]?
• The project I least enjoyed was the video
game project. It was furthest from what I
wanted to do in term of career and interests. I
tend to enjoy the projects I'm interested in like
working with a camera and video editing
software. I think that all the particle work was
done on a computer made it feel tedious to
me. However I did learn a lot more about
photoshop and learn to make my own music
to go with the game which I did enjoy.
23. What is you biggest success
• I'm very proud of my final project. With other
projects, I always found something that i
wanted to criticise and something I disliked
about the project. Learning from my mistakes
and learning what worked for me and my
styles, I created a final project that I'm happy
with and will use in my future work to help m
with my career.
24. What has been your biggest mistake in
coursework
• I feel like my time management when shooting to
editing in every project was my weakness throughout
the whole year. Every time during production, I would
try speed up the process and not allow myself to get
enough content therefore I would underestimate how
little time to take in post production. For example
when filming my music video, I shot my footage for a
few weeks and then edited it. The editing process took
a few days and my music video ended up being too
short. If I spent more time shooting I would have been
able to edit more footage and my video would have
been longer. I also had the same problem with my
audio project.
25. Which skills do you think you have
develop most?
• I think my camera abilities and then finding my editing
styles with the photos I took. Learning how to use
software like photoshop and premiere pro has been
interesting to me. I feel like photoshop and premiere
pro was the first piece of software I have used that
allowed me to do everything I wanted and previous
software's I used always has some sort of restrictions
that didn’t allow me to do everything. My knowledge
on cameras and what works have expanded a lot more
as it was more frequently I had to pick up a camera and
more frequently I had to research and educate myself
more on what camera settings does what.
26. What area are aiming to specialise in
during Year 2?
• Either videography so I can look into cinematography
or concert photography. Doing concert photography is
me being able to shoot a subject matter that I'm
incredibly interested in and do a lot in my free time.
However when I applied to do this course, I knew I
wanted to work in film. Then later on into the terms I
knew I wanted to specialise in cinematography and
videography. I can see myself mixing all of my hobbies
together in the future, however for year 2 I feel like I
need to educate myself ore on each subject and see
which area I gravitate towards to the most. I know that
I want to specialise in an area of work that includes me
being incontrol of a camera.
