This document provides an overview of Microsoft Azure, including its evolution over time. It describes Azure as an open and flexible cloud platform that allows users to quickly deploy and manage applications across Microsoft's global network of datacenters. Azure provides platform as a service (PaaS) and allows users to build applications using any language, tools, or framework. It also helps integrate public cloud applications with existing on-premises IT environments. The document discusses Azure's components and services, pricing models, and advantages like scalability, availability, and eased management.

3. Microsoft Azure is previously known as Windows Azure
before 25th March 2014.
It is an open & flexible cloud platform that enables us to
quickly deploy & manage applications across a global
network of microsoft-managed datacenters.
It provides Platform as a Service(PaaS ) in which we can
build applications using any language, tools or framework .
It helps in integrating our public cloud applications with
our existing IT environment.

6. 2010
Finally, Microsoft Azure was released on 1st February, 2010
in 21 countries.
2014
In April 2014, Microsoft Azure witnessed many changes.
Windows Azure renamed to Microsoft Azure.
New Beta portal is released.
It provides cross-platform technologies to speed up
delievery process.
Azure Machine learning public preview.
Fully managed : No need to buy hardware or software.
Integrated : Drag , drop ,Connect.
Deploy in minutes : operational with a click.
7. The kinds of services that cloud computing platform
such as Microsoft Azure can provide is :
Platform as a Service (PaaS) :
Cloud application infrastructure.
On–demand application hosting environment.
Customer develops & deploys applications for specific
application architecture.
Hoster provides applications runtime ,storage &
integration needed to run customer’s application.
Eg : Google App Engine , Microsoft Azure.

Database SQL Azure
Storage Microsoft Azure Storage (Blob, Table)
Networking Microsoft Azure-Configured Networking
14. Microsoft Azure Network services provides foundation for
building cloud solutions.
It also helps in securely connecting our cloud infrastructure to
our on-premises datacenter.
Two main players for network services :
a. Virtual Network
b. Traffic Manager
Virtual Network
Virtual Network plays a key role when we want to extend our
on-premises infrastructure into the cloud .
There is no need to create virtual network if the services we
are using is in the same cloud service.
By using virtual networks, we can enable virtual machines
running in different cloud services to talk to each other.
17. Per-use Pricing
Ability to integrate with on-premise infrastructure
Scalabilty
Availabilty
Recoverabilty
Eased Management
18. Microsoft Azure allows us to quickly deploy
infrastructures and services to meet all of our needs.
We can run Windows and Linux based applications in
`19 Azure datacenter region, delivered with enterprise
grade SLAs.
No upfront costs.
No termination fees.
Per minute billing.
Pay for what you use.
20. Microsoft Azure is basically practical implementation
of cloud computing considering Platform as a Service
(PaaS).
It started a new trend of charging as per client’s usage.
By the end of 2014, Microsoft Azure data centers will
be operational in 19 regions around the world atleast
double the number of any other public cloud provider.
