PREFACE
Practical training is also very important aspect in management course. There is so many
times vast differences between theoretical knowledge and actual practical implication.
Thus practical training helps individuals of know he actual uses and impaction of what he has
gained from theoretical knowledge. The theoretical knowledge and classroom discussion is not
enough for a management student now, for the knowledge of practical viewpoints, problems,
opportunities and situation of industrial units practical studies is necessary.
So as the students of 1st
sem. B.B.A. I also a get a valuable opportunities to learn the
practically of the theories.
I have tried to collect all the necessary information and had tried to prepare this report with
the best of my knowledge and ability.

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE
Production means creation of utilities and covers all the activities of procurement, allocation and
utilization of resources such as labour, energy, material, equipment, and machinery etc. Utilities
are goods and services, which have want satisfying power. Production department is the most
vital aspect in a set of organization because the whole success of the industry depends upon the
targets that are fulfilled by the production department. “Production is the conversion of raw
material into finished product and it also spoken of as manufacturing of goods.”
ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE
The organization structure of JYOTI CNC AUTOMATION. LTD. is as
follows:
Production incharge
Quality Control Workshop
Department Incharge
Inspector Technical staff
Workers
Assistants
RAW MATERIALS USED IN THE PROCESS
Metal cutting CNC machine manufacturing involves assembling various parts either
manufactured in-house or sourced from vendors. They manufacture many key components in-
house and have firm arrangements/agreement for procuring rest of the raw material
requirements. The main raw materials used in the manufacturing process of the products and
major vendors, based on different stages of input include Pig Iron sourced from, CR sheets Scrap
Iron from various local vendors, and CNC panels from Siemens AG and Fanuc. Other inputs
like Linear guide ways from Bosch and NSK, Ball screws from NSK, Bearings from SKF and
FAG Electrical switchgear from Siemens AG and Hydraulic power packs from Bosch, Yuken
and Chuck cylinders from Kitagawa and Panel AC from Ritall. They are not dependent on any
single vendor for our raw material supplies. All of their inputs are easily available at competitive
prices from both domestic and overseas suppliers.
Purchasing of raw material:- The required raw material and parts are purchased from
RAJKOT, AHMEDABAD AND BANGALORE. The raw material is as follows:
Spindle
Front Sealing Cover
Cartridge
Box Stand
Casting
Spare Bar
Round Bar
Head Stock
Saddle
MANUFACTURING PROCESS
Casting
First mould is made from sand and bond material
c and poured into the mould. The mould is
then allowed to cool. Casting is taken out by crane from the sand mould. Then the process is
repeated. The sand is then recycled.
Some of the demerits of the casting process is that extra material are included in casting
and it is necessary to remove this material by hand grinding. These extra materials are removed
by lathe machine.
Drilling
After that necessary holes are drilled into the components using drilling machine.
Milling
It is then taken to the milling shop where the gears, gear bar and compound gear box are
made.
Grinding
It is then taken to the grinding machine for finishing. This is where surface roughness is
maintained and polishing is done.
Painting
- c.
All these components are given a bar code and stored. Since every machine is manufactured
using five thousand components, every component is identified using a barcode. When the
company receives an order for a machine, the system is checked if there are any missing
components. If there is a missing component, it is manufactured.
The components are then taken to the assembly line. Components like Gear box, Motor,
Wires & Cables, etc. are assembled together. Metal Sheet is attached to CNC machines of 0.2
mm thickness. The metal sheets are cut with the help of Laser Cutting. Various processes of
Bending, Welding, etc. also come under Assembly Line.
It is then taken to quality control to check accuracy, speed, stability, noise test, vibration
test, reliability and driver tests occur. It is then packaged in wooden box.
Perfection is impossible, but continual pursuit of perfection is dedication that few will pursue.
Their future depends on the dedication of individuals to lead the way for the quality their is wish
to achieve. Methodology, management & consistency of process provide the environment for
achieving perfection. They go far beyond 100% measurement of components; its commitment to
achieving perfection in all aspects of manufacturing and is reflected in their customer satisfaction

QUALITY CONTROL
There is a separate department of the quality control in JYOTI CNC
AUTOMATION. LTD. In this department when the product (CNC Machine) is completed then
it is sent to quality control department and over there, they do raw material inspection, Process
inspection and finished goods inspection.
Mr. Dhabhi explained us about the 5Sconcept. 5S stands for
1.Seiri (Sorting out)
2.Seriton (Systematic Arrangement)
3.Seiso (Spic & Span)
4.Seiketsu (Standardise)
5. Shitsuke
5S is the name of a workplace organization method that uses a list of
five Japanese words: seiri, seiton, seiso, seiketsu, and shitsuke. Transliteratedor translated
into English, they all start with the letter "S". The list describes how to organize a work space for
efficiency and effectiveness by identifying and storing the items used, maintaining the area and
items, and sustaining the new order. The decision-making process usually comes from a dialogue
about standardization, which builds understanding among employees of how they should do the
work.
1) Sorting (Seiri)
Eliminate all unnecessary tools, parts. Go through all tools, materials, and so forth in the plant
and work area. Keep only essential items and eliminate what is not required, prioritizing things
per requirements and keeping them in easily-accessible places. Everything else is stored or
discarded.
2) Systematic Arrangement (Seiton)
Arrange the work, workers, equipment, parts, and instructions in such a way that the work flows
free of waste through the value added tasks with a division of labor necessary to meet demand.
This is by far the most misunderstood and incorrectly applied S and has been responsible for
many lean transformations failing to produce the benefits expected. When applied correctly with
flow established this step eliminates the majority of the non-value-added time and allows the rest
of the zero defect philosophy to be enabled. Put simply, until you have an orderly flow, you
cannot have an orderly flow of problems to solve and the notion of zero defects is impossible.
3) Shining (Seiso)
Clean the workspace and all equipment, and keep it clean, tidy and organized. At the end of each
shift, clean the work area and be sure everything is restored to its place. This step ensures that the
workstation is ready for the next user and that order is sustained.
4) Standardize (Seiketsu)
Ensure uniform procedures and setups throughout the operation to promote interchangeability.
5) Sustain (Shitsuke)
Make it a way of life. This means commitment. Ensure disciplined adherence to rules and
procedures of 5 S to prevent backsliding.
The instruments, which are used, for these inspections are:
(1) Vernier
(2) Micrometer
(3) Broadgadge BASIC INSTRUMENTS
(4) Pocket Dial
(5) Dial Test Indicator
(6) CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine)
(7) Roundness Tester
(8) Electro Level HI-TECH INSTUMENTS
(9) Laser Calibration
(10) Ball Bar Test

LTD. is as follows: Production incharge Quality Control Workshop Department Incharge Inspector Technical staff Workers Assistants
  • 23. RAW MATERIALS USED IN THE PROCESS Metal cutting CNC machine manufacturing involves assembling various parts either manufactured in-house or sourced from vendors. They manufacture many key components in- house and have firm arrangements/agreement for procuring rest of the raw material requirements. The main raw materials used in the manufacturing process of the products and major vendors, based on different stages of input include Pig Iron sourced from, CR sheets Scrap Iron from various local vendors, and CNC panels from Siemens AG and Fanuc. Other inputs like Linear guide ways from Bosch and NSK, Ball screws from NSK, Bearings from SKF and FAG Electrical switchgear from Siemens AG and Hydraulic power packs from Bosch, Yuken and Chuck cylinders from Kitagawa and Panel AC from Ritall. They are not dependent on any single vendor for our raw material supplies. All of their inputs are easily available at competitive prices from both domestic and overseas suppliers. Purchasing of raw material:- The required raw material and parts are purchased from RAJKOT, AHMEDABAD AND BANGALORE. The raw material is as follows: Spindle Front Sealing Cover Cartridge Box Stand Casting Spare Bar Round Bar Head Stock Saddle
  • 25. Casting First mould is made from sand and bond material c and poured into the mould. The mould is then allowed to cool. Casting is taken out by crane from the sand mould. Then the process is repeated. The sand is then recycled. Some of the demerits of the casting process is that extra material are included in casting and it is necessary to remove this material by hand grinding. These extra materials are removed by lathe machine. Drilling After that necessary holes are drilled into the components using drilling machine. Milling It is then taken to the milling shop where the gears, gear bar and compound gear box are made. Grinding It is then taken to the grinding machine for finishing. This is where surface roughness is maintained and polishing is done. Painting - c. All these components are given a bar code and stored. Since every machine is manufactured using five thousand components, every component is identified using a barcode. When the company receives an order for a machine, the system is checked if there are any missing components. If there is a missing component, it is manufactured.
  • 26. The components are then taken to the assembly line. Components like Gear box, Motor, Wires & Cables, etc. are assembled together. Metal Sheet is attached to CNC machines of 0.2 mm thickness. The metal sheets are cut with the help of Laser Cutting. Various processes of Bending, Welding, etc. also come under Assembly Line. It is then taken to quality control to check accuracy, speed, stability, noise test, vibration test, reliability and driver tests occur. It is then packaged in wooden box. Perfection is impossible, but continual pursuit of perfection is dedication that few will pursue. Their future depends on the dedication of individuals to lead the way for the quality their is wish to achieve. In this department when the product (CNC Machine) is completed then it is sent to quality control department and over there, they do raw material inspection, Process inspection and finished goods inspection. Mr. Dhabhi explained us about the 5Sconcept. 5S stands for 1.Seiri (Sorting out) 2.Seriton (Systematic Arrangement) 3.Seiso (Spic & Span) 4.Seiketsu (Standardise) 5. Shitsuke 5S is the name of a workplace organization method that uses a list of five Japanese words: seiri, seiton, seiso, seiketsu, and shitsuke. Transliteratedor translated into English, they all start with the letter "S". The list describes how to organize a work space for efficiency and effectiveness by identifying and storing the items used, maintaining the area and items, and sustaining the new order. The decision-making process usually comes from a dialogue about standardization, which builds understanding among employees of how they should do the work. 1) Sorting (Seiri) Eliminate all unnecessary tools, parts. Go through all tools, materials, and so forth in the plant and work area. Keep only essential items and eliminate what is not required, prioritizing things per requirements and keeping them in easily-accessible places. Everything else is stored or discarded. 2) Systematic Arrangement (Seiton) Arrange the work, workers, equipment, parts, and instructions in such a way that the work flows free of waste through the value added tasks with a division of labor necessary to meet demand.
  • 33. This is by far the most misunderstood and incorrectly applied S and has been responsible for many lean transformations failing to produce the benefits expected. When applied correctly with flow established this step eliminates the majority of the non-value-added time and allows the rest of the zero defect philosophy to be enabled. Put simply, until you have an orderly flow, you cannot have an orderly flow of problems to solve and the notion of zero defects is impossible. 3) Shining (Seiso) Clean the workspace and all equipment, and keep it clean, tidy and organized. At the end of each shift, clean the work area and be sure everything is restored to its place. This step ensures that the workstation is ready for the next user and that order is sustained. 4) Standardize (Seiketsu) Ensure uniform procedures and setups throughout the operation to promote interchangeability. 5) Sustain (Shitsuke) Make it a way of life. This means commitment. Ensure disciplined adherence to rules and procedures of 5 S to prevent backsliding. The instruments, which are used, for these inspections are: (1) Vernier (2) Micrometer (3) Broadgadge BASIC INSTRUMENTS (4) Pocket Dial (5) Dial Test Indicator (6) CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) (7) Roundness Tester (8) Electro Level HI-TECH INSTUMENTS (9) Laser Calibration
