  3. 3. The Meaning of Parliamentary Government A system of government having the real executive Power vested in a cabinet composed Of members of the legislature who are individually and collectively response to the legislature.

The Definition of Parliamentary Government A Parliamentary system or Parliamentarian democracy is a system of democratic governance of a state where the executive derives its democratic Legitimacy form its ability to command the support of the legislature, typically a Parliament, to which it is accountable . Generally, a modern parliament has three functions: ❑Representing the Electorate ❑Making Laws ❑Overseeing the Government via Hearings and Inquiries.
  5. 5. How Parliamentary Government work ? In a parliamentary system, lows are made by majority vote of the legislature & signed by the head of state. who does not have an effective veto power. The head of government (prime minister) is elected by the legislature and can be removed from office at any time through a procedure called "vote of no confidence." As a result, government must always have support of the legislative majority.
  6. 6. How Parliamentary Government work in Bangladesh ? Bangladesh is a parliamentary democracy of 155 million citizens. Current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed leads the Awami League (AL) alliance. It was a 14-party coalition with a large majority of parliamentary seats. The president is constitutional figure head and elected by the members of parliament for the tenure of 5 years. This government has 3 organs: ❑ Legislature - Make the law ❑ Executive - Implement the law ❑ Judiciary - Interprets the law

Legislature & the Formation of Bangladesh Parliament The Constitution of the People's Republic of Bangladesh gives the legislature the name Jatiyo Shangsad(জাতীয় সংসদ) in Bengali and House of the Nation in English. It is commonly known as Parliament. TotalMember:350.Male: 300, directly elected by the adult people (from 300 territorial constituencies that is one from each constituency). Female:50, elected by MPs.
  8. 8. How Parliamentary Government work in India ? Parliament is the supreme legislative body of India. The Indian Parliament comprises of the President and the two Houses - Rajya Sabha (Council of States) and Lok Sabha (House of the People). The President has the power to summon and prorogue either House of Parliament or to dissolve Lok Sabha. The party which wins majority seats in the elections of the Lower House forms the government. The President appoints the leader as the Prime Minister and the other ministers on the recommendation of the Prime Minister.
  9. 9. How Parliamentary Government work in USA ? In the United States, the Congress is the national parliament. The Congress functions as the legislative branch of the U.S. government. The President functions as the executive branch, and the courts (The Supreme Court), in turn, function as the judicial branch. The United States is a representative democracy. This means that their government is elected by the citizens. citizens vote for their government officials. These officials represent the citizens' ideas and concerns in government.
