The top cloud services provider now provides a toolkit to support one of the most used IDE platforms.
Ideally, .NET 4 + VS2010 is used across the board. VS 2008 is still usable, but at this juncture it's about time to step up to some current tool/tooling.
Apache 2.0 License - This basically means: 1. Any changes can be made to the software, but you need to let others know in some way that you made changes. Such as a README file. 2. This licence must be linked, provided, or otherwise included in any distribution of the SDK. 3. The notice.txt file must be included with the SDK. ...which can be summarized as "keep users of any changes you make on the up and up and be honest about your work with the SDK."
AWS SDK also covers more Visual Studio versions than the Toolkit does.
When installing the toolkit, you get a standard windows wizard install. If the SDK already is installed, the toolkit installer will ask if you want to uninstall it. The installation, will also probably take a good 45 seconds to 2 minutes to install. As with many things Visual Studio related, there isn't any real indication what is going on, things just spin for a while and eventually just happen.
Verifying the Toolkit is installed.
Verifying the SDK Project Templates are available.
