Started in 2005 by Pete Cashmore in Scotland Completely self-funded company 2006 = Social Networks 2007 = Resources and lists posts (like “20 ways to claim your identity online” to “30 games to play while bored at work” to “30 Social Networks that aggregate your feeds”… The Mashable team grows by 4 people, including me and 3 writers, 2 of which are still writing today I created our First Events… called “MashMeets” here in NYC and DC… but soon people wanted to have more I created the “Open Web Awards” an online competition, which was rebranded this year as the “4 th Annual Mashable Awards” 2008 = More Events (DC, NYC, Boston, Chicago, Israel, SF, etc)… our team beings to grow as does social networks and the beginning of social media 2009 = Rebrand as the Social Media Guide..
