Project management
1. PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Project Management is the process of planning and organizing resources,
procedures and protocols to achieve specific or daily problems. It is done to
make project work easier. Also, it is for the smooth running and execution of a
particular task.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROCESSES
Initiation Process: This stage involves organizing the group members to carry
out the first process, allocating a group leader, collection and organization of
tools to be used for the project. Also, how funds for the project will be
controlled, the method of communication among the group members.
Planning Process: This process involves task division that is; dividing a big
project into smaller manageable task and scheduling each subtask that is;
setting a time deadline example, one week for project requirement analysis,
two weeks for interim report, four weeks for programming, one week for
testing, one week for modifications, two weeks for final project report, one
week for project presentation preparation and so on. Setting the scope, fixing
the main objective and knowing your goals for the project. it involves knowing
the type of risk involved, what type of resources are going to be
used, management of time to meet deadline and also how to control and
manage the project. Also, developing a work breakdown structure of the
technical and functional requirement.
Execution Process: This deals with carrying out the planning process,
monitoring and controlling the project progress and also communicating the
status of the project among the group members. And also maintaining the
project workbook for the group.
Closing Processes: The project documentation and records must be finalized
in order to conduct the final review of the project. All the group members must
know that the project has been completed.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT TOOLS
• PERT chart (Program Evaluation and Review Technique)
2. This is a type of project management tools used for the scheduling and
planning of a task within a project. It is very useful, as it would make our
project work easier to be coordinated.
• GANTT chart
It shows calendar time task in days, weeks or month and helps in knowing
the required amount of time for the project. Also, it helps in tracking the
progress of the project and in budgeting. It is very easy to use and
understand. It helps in knowing the resources needed and when the project
is not on track, it allows the project members to know and also to take
action in order to bring it back on course.
• SWOT Analysis
It is used to assess the strength, weakness, opportunity and threats
involved in a project. It would help us to know the internal and external
factors involved in the project. The strength and opportunity are the
internal factors of the organization while the opportunity and threats are
the external factors of the organization.
• TRELLO
It is a project management software tool that helps in the organization of
the resources going to be used to manage a particular project. It is for
scheduling, tagging and many more.
3. • FACEBOOK
It helps in communication among the members of the group for a
project. It also helps in sharing pictures, videos, links and ideas. This is a
screen shot of it.
• GOOGLE APPLICATIONS
It helps to collaborate project work together. Some of its applications like
google docs. Helps to create and save documents, also for sharing
documents among the group members. Google hangout helps in
communication, video chatting(instead of coming together to have a
meeting at night, video chatting is done), and offers a lot of fun.
• GITHUB
4. It helps in programming and it also helps in detecting issues in a project. It
would help us in managing our project work. Instead of sharing codes via
email, github gives the opportunity to be able to share, copy and run a
code on it. If the codes are broken down, it gives the opportunity for
members of the project to correct it.
• WIX
It is an easy software application tool that helps in sharing. It was created in
2006 to enable people have a web presence that is functioning. It helps in
sharing ideas to the rest of the world. My profile and contact can be seen
and if anybody wants to know about a particular project work, the person
can get in touch with me. Also, it gives opportunity and knowledge to a
student who wants to know more about the modules studied in computer
science at Coventry university.
